🚶 BENGALURU'S FOOTPATHS ARE GETTING THEIR SPACE BACK From July 1–10, the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) is running a 'Safe Footpath Campaign' across 1,000 km of road network — clearing encroachments from footpaths in all five city corporations. 📊 WHY THIS MATTERS 30% of every 1,000 road accident deaths in Bengaluru are pedestrians. For many years, apartment owners have called for a new law that better addresses their needs relating to ownership, governance, and management. Our Government has taken note of these citizen demands. Under the guidance of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri D. K. Shivakumar, the Government has prepared a draft Bill. Before taking it forward, we would like to seek the views and suggestions of all stakeholders. Accordingly, a stakeholder consultation has been scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, 15 July, at conference hall of Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium. The Hon’ble Chief Minister will be present at the consultation. It’s a politically risky and unpopular decision. But, necessary for the sake of Bengaluru. At least some footpaths should be reserved for pedestrians. I request people to respect the fundamental right of public to decent footpath. Pls voluntarily remove encroachments or obstructions. It is the law. It may inconvenience you. But, it is for the larger good. ಇದು ರಾಜಕೀಯ ರಿಸ್ಕ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಕೆಲವರಿಗೆ ಹಿಡಿಸಿದ ನಿಲುವು. ಆದರೆ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಜನರ ಅವಶ್ಯಕತೆ. ಕನಿಷ್ಠ ಕೆಲವು ಪಾದಚಾರಿ ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳಾದರೂ ನಡೆಯುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಮೀಸಲಾಗಿರಬೇಕು. ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರಿಗೆ ಸುಗಮ ಪಾದಚಾರಿಮಾರ್ಗದ ಮೂಲಭೂತ ಹಕ್ಕನ್ನು ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಗೌರವಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ವಿನಂತಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ಸ್ವಯಂ ಪ್ರೇರಿತರಾಗಿ ಒತ್ತುವರಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಅಡತಡೆಗಳನ್ನು ತೆರವುಗೊಳಿಸಿ, ಇದು ಕಾನೂನಿನ ಅವಶ್ಯಕತೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದರಿಂದ ಕೆಲವರಿಗೆ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಅನಾನುಕೂಲ ಉಂಟಾಗಬಹುದು ಆದರೆ ಇದು ನಮ್ಮ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರ ಹಿತಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿರುವ ಕ್ರಮವಾಗಿದೆ. #GBA #GreaterBengaluruAuthority

It has been my honour and privilege to serve in the Revenue Department. This work added real meaning to my public life. Together, we were able to deliver better services and good governance to the people. We went to their doorsteps and accomplished what many believed was impossible. We addressed issues that had remained unresolved for decades. It was, in many ways, a silent revolution. The journey was tough and challenging, but that is what made it all the more satisfying. We demonstrated that meaningful change is possible, even in the Revenue Department. We took it upon ourselves to solve people’s problems instead of waiting for them to come to us with applications. While we have not eliminated corruption entirely, we plugged loopholes, fixed systemic issues at their source, introduced online systems and automatic approvals, and significantly reduced opportunities for corruption. Through technology and digitisation, we brought governance to people’s fingertips. To the people we served: I hope our work made even a small difference in your lives. I hope we were able to resolve some of your long-pending problems. It has been my great fortune to have had the opportunity to serve you. The quiet affection and trust I received from the people are priceless the greatest asset one can earn in public life. I sincerely thank the public for their unwavering support. Your encouragement was my driving force. I also thank my team of officers, whose dedication made all of this possible. We in Karnataka are proud that state’s own tax revenue (SOTR) contributes 77% our revenue receipts. Perhaps the highest of any state in India. It’s a self-reliant state. We get so little from the central govt, as a share of our budget it’s probably the lowest in the whole country. Drone based resurvey of all lands is being piloted and tested in Uyyamballi Block of #Ramanagara Dist. Last survey was done around 1920 ! If pilot is successful, we want to take up resurvey of whole state. That will revolutionise survey records, clean out disputes and give us tamper-proof advanced digital land sketches.
