BREAKING: Assistant U.S. Attorney Joe Thompson exposes the true level of fraud in Minnesota. "Every day we look under a rock and find a new $50 million fraud scheme." "[Minnesota] is an outlier in a bad way. You don't see fraud on this scale in other states." "Traditional Medicare/Medicaid fraud is people overbilling. Upcoding. Instead of billing for a service with a relatively modest reimbursement, you claim you're providing a higher dollar value service. You're maybe making 20% more - padding your bills." "What I think is unique to Minnesota is that's not what we're looking at. What we're seeing is programs that are just entirely fraudulent. These aren't companies that are providing some services but overbilling Medicare and Medicaid, these are companies that are providing NO services. They're essentially shell companies created to defraud the program. That's unique to Minnesota."

🚨🚨NEW: Governor Walz INTERRUPTS a reporter who was asking about fraud at today's budget forecast press conference: Reporter: "When did you first become aware of... I mean growth in these programs -" Walz: "We can... we can put out anything on there. Yes, you know there's -" Reporter: "It has come up in these forecasts before, some of the programs that were exploding in growth. Housing programs, autism services, that didn't raise any alarm- " Walz: "These are new programs, a lot of them. Some happened ahead of time. And I think for all of us there have been these incidents whether it's in Medicaid, Medicare, whatever it would be." What does that even mean? Why can't the Governor answer the question?

🚨🚨Was Minnesota's record-breaking $18 billion surplus from 2023 stolen by fraudsters? Governor Walz seems to think so. When Governor Walz announced last year that he and the DFL trifecta turned the $18 billion surplus into one of the largest deficits in state history, most Minnesotans wondered where the money actually went. Walz explicitly said in the press conference "This is where the debt's coming from... disability waivers... that's what's driving the spending... You saw in the charts that it's growing." Today, the Walz Administration announced that they are implementing a MORATORIUM on ALL new HCBS licenses for two years. What is HCBS? Home and Community-Based Services are funded by the Developmental Disabilities Waiver, and several HCBS programs have been identified as being at high-risk for fraud, including: Adult Day Services Individualized Home Supports Integrated Community Supports Night Supervision Services Transportation Services In their internal memo, the Walz Administration says: "The average annual number of active licenses rose by 55.3%, and new license applications grew by 283.3%." "As of mid-November, there are 2,549 active licenses and 2,314 pending applications."

Yesterday, the Walz Administration asked the Housing Committee for more taxpayer dollars. But during the hearing, Rep. Nash uncovered that they were already sitting on so much unspent cash, it generated nearly $100 million in interest. Minnesotans don’t need more spending - they need accountability.

WATCH: Speaker Demuth's full response to today's budget forecast where it was announced that Minnesota is facing a $3 billion deficit. "Last year, Governor Walz blamed increases in social service spending as the main driver of the deficit that was created." "But we now know that much of that increase was the result of fraud."

WATCH: Full press conference of Hennepin County law enforcement leaders speaking out against Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty's decision to NOT prosecute felony cases that stem from low-level traffic stops, a move House Democrats support. "In May, our deputies made a traffic stop for illegal window tint in Minneapolis. The two occupants were wearing ski masks and gloves. A 9 millimeter handgun that was modified to be fully automatic was found during that traffic stop. Through our investigation, we discovered the firearm was connected to a shooting in Minneapolis and a homicide in Robbinsdale." "On this topic, we weren't included in the discussion... It caught us off guard." "Criminals say it to us every day: 'you're not supposed to chase us. You're not supposed to pull us over.' Criminals are paying attention. This will put more lives at risk. The county attorney is prioritizing offenders over public safety."

WOW! Now that Walz's political career is over, Democrats have been given the green light to throw him under the bus and FINALLY acknowledge the widespread fraud in Minnesota. Democrat state representatives are now repeating things Republicans have been saying for YEARS. Rep. Brion Curran (D-Vadnais Heights): "We aren't getting information about who is making decisions. We aren't even sure who decided Optum got that contract. We don't know who's making those decisions. We ask and we're not told." "To Representative Murphy's (R-Underwood) point, I have the same questions. How long have we known about some of these things? Who knew about it? Why haven't we fired anybody? Why? This has been a crisis." "At this point, Minnesotans are very well aware that we are in a deep hole that has been dug... My ask as we move forward in this conversation about fraud... I would love to see state agencies and the Walz Administration stop the efforts to save face in all of this and just own up to what's been done." "Something I expect from a commissioner or even a governor and haven't gotten yet is an apology. Is an 'I'm sorry - you were right, community members. You were right, legislators. We didn't know what we were doing, and we messed up.' That's all we need to hear!" "The people who have been responsible for the work that has been done refuse to take accountability and apologize."

BREAKING: In a shocking report, KARE 11 confirms the Walz Administration’s Department of Human Services IGNORED repeated fraud warnings for over a year. Hundreds of millions of dollars kept flowing while vendors billed deceased clients for services and falsified records. The Walz Administration did nothing. "Fancy cars, fly-by-night companies... fake meetings, forged names, homeless veterans and dead people billed for phantom services. Real needs, exploited." "All of these allegations were known to the state agency that was supposed to be the watchdog." "Despite all they knew, DHS actively downplayed to legislators the extent of fraud on the agency's watch."

... What? Rep Pinto (D-St. Paul): "Yesterday, there was a presentation from a group seeking to change how we address organized retail theft... It would have been good to make sure that they would study the benefit of shoplifting and of retail theft because perhaps people are relying on that and sort of using that, and maybe it's assisting them in some way. These folks were describing people violating the law, but I suppose it could be useful to look into that."

"You failed at your job as Chief Compliance Officer, and then you were promoted. Now you say you're taking swift action, but nothing has been done. Nobody has been fired." Rep. Knudsen (R-Lake Shore) grills current DHS Commissioner and former Chief Compliance Officer Shireen Gandhi, who was in that position while fraudsters stole billions and DHS staff were backdating documents and giving huge grants to sketchy organizations. "We have a report in front of us showing that somebody gave $600,000 to an organization, then turned around and quit to go work for the same organization that was given $600,000. We need a serious change of culture in this state. This has gone on far too long, and you have been there for the majority of it."

Representative Scott (R-Andover) asks Democrats why they blew the $18 billion surplus on pet projects instead of upgrading critical IT infrastructure: "For the love of all things obvious, why, when we had an $18 billion surplus, didn't we fix this problem? We've known it's existed for a very, very long time."

Leader Niska responds to a House Democrat who said we should "Study the benefits of shoplifting" today: "If you listen carefully to those comments, I think you'll understand why Democrats have been so unserious about the billions of dollars of fraud that have been flowing out of our state."

House Democrats just voted down a bill that would make sure Minnesota stops directly funding fraudulent nonprofits. "Just months after a nonprofit was ordered to repay over $1.1 million because of 'fraudulent claims,' the Democrat trifecta gave that same organization another $1 million in direct funding."
