“We are VIPs, We Cannot Stand in Queues: KSCA Should Give 5 Tickets to Each MLA and Minister of Karnataka,” says Congress MLA Vijayananda Kashappanavar Bengaluru Congress MLA Vijayananda Kashappanavar has strongly criticized the Karnataka State Cricket Association (#KSCA) for denying tickets to legislators and ministers for the upcoming Indian Premier League (#IPL) matches starting March 28. Speaking to reporters, Kashappanavar said that despite availing government facilities such as security, KSCA has failed to show respect to elected representatives. “They are not issuing tickets to MLAs, ministers, or their families. Instead, they are asking people to book online. We all know how online booking works,it leads to black marketing. Tickets worth ₹5,000 are being sold for ₹35,000,” he alleged. The MLA demanded that at least five tickets be allotted to each legislator along with separate seating arrangements. “We are VIPs; we cannot stand in queues. Last time, we were made to sit in the general gallery with the public. This should not happen again,” he said, adding that the issue has been raised in the Assembly and taken up with the Speaker. Kashappanavar further revealed that the Deputy Chief Minister has assured legislators of resolving the matter by arranging tickets and ensuring proper seating. On the Home Minister’s meeting with KSCA, Kashappanavar dismissed claims of effective guidelines being issued. “There are no proper guidelines. KSCA has become too powerful because IPL matches are happening. They are collecting money and enjoying it. If this continues, we will fight against it,” he warned. Gangster Aluva Athul Murdered in Broad Daylight in Keralam Kollam, Keralam A notorious gangster was brutally murdered in broad daylight in Karunagappally, #Kollam district, #Keralam, on Saturday, reigniting fears of escalating gang wars in the region. The victim, identified as #AluvaAthul, was the prime accused in the 2025 murder of gang leader #GymSanthosh. Athul had recently been released on bail. On Saturday, while traveling in his car near Puthiyakavu, a group of five assailants rammed their vehicle into his, forcing it into a roadside ditch. Trapped inside the vehicle, Athul was fatally attacked before he could escape, while his associate sustained injuries. CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced, showing the attackers swiftly executing the assault before fleeing. Police revealed that the car used in the crime was not registered in Kerala, raising suspicions of outside involvement. The killing is believed to be retaliation for the murder of Gym Santhosh on March 27 last year. On that day, Athul and his associates stormed Santhosh’s residence and attacked him. Drunk Driver Crashes Into Indiranagar Restaurant, Pedestrians Escape Narrowly,Car seized. Bengaluru A major accident was narrowly averted late Thursday night on #Indiranagar’s bustling 100 Feet Road when a drunk driver lost control of his car, jumped a divider, and rammed into a popular restaurant. At around 11:35 pm, CCTV cameras captured the speeding #Skoda driven by 42 year old Derrick hurtling down from the 18th Main Road toward 100 Feet Road. Unable to negotiate a scheduled left turn due to excessive speed and intoxication, the vehicle mounted the central divider, struck a parked two-wheeler and slammed into the exterior wall of the restaurant. The dramatic footage shows the car missing a group of Pedestrians by mere inches.Fortunately, the incident did not result in any major injuries. #Bengaluru Traffic Police confirmed that Derrick was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Police seized the vehicle, registered a case of rash and negligent driving and detained the driver. A formal legal notice has been served. Bengaluru Road Accident: Bank Employee Killed in Motorcycle Collision Bengaluru A 27 year old woman lost her life after being struck by a speeding motorcycle while crossing Dr. Rajkumar Road in Rajajinagar on Monday afternoon. The victim, identified as Yogeshwari, was employed with #HDFC Bank and resided in Kempegowda Layout of #Bengaluru. The accident occurred around 12:30 pm in front of the HDFC Bank branch, where she had stepped out for lunch with a colleague. While her colleague paused to let the motorcycle pass, Yogeshwari misjudged the speed of the approaching vehicle and was hit with severe impact. She was rushed to Suguna Hospital with critical injuries but succumbed to heavy internal bleeding despite medical intervention. Her body was later shifted to Victoria Hospital for post-mortem examination. The rider of the motorcycle, Deepan (22), also sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment. The Rajajinagar Traffic Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.

Man Arrested for Kicking Child Playing on Road in Bengaluru Bengaluru The Banashankari Police have arrested a 35 year old man after CCTV footage showed him kicking a five year old boy who was playing outside his house in Thyagarajanagar, South Bengaluru. The accused, identified as Ranjan, was produced before court and remanded to judicial custody. Police officials stated that preliminary inquiries suggested he was not in a stable mental condition. The incident occurred on Postal Road when the child, Neev Jain, was playing with his mother and relatives near their residence. The footage shows Ranjan emerging from his gate and suddenly kicking the boy from behind, causing him to fall face down on the road. Boy sustained abrasions on his face, legs and hands in the fall. His mother, Deepika Jain, who had come to her brother’s house with her son, lodged a complaint at Banashankari Police Station.

The incident began when a local resident’s male #cat reportedly impregnated a neighbor’s female cat. Tensions escalated after the female cat gave birth to four #kittens. According to police, the owners of the female cat arrived at the neighbor’s doorstep carrying the kittens. They demanded that the male cat’s owners take full responsibility, insisting: “Since your cat is the father, you must raise these kittens yourselves.” The demand led to a heated verbal altercation between the two families, prompting a call to the police to prevent the “catfight” from turning physical. Upon arrival, the Hoysala officers found themselves in the role of domestic mediators. After pacifying both parties, the police reached a creative settlement to preserve neighborhood harmony: neither neighbor had to keep the kittens. The bus, registered in #TamilNadu (TN21AU2699), was intercepted on R.G. Road around 3:00 pm following a tip-off. PSI Azaruddin M.S. and his team found multiple provocative slogans on the vehicle, including “Bombay #Underworld Dawood the Real Don”, “D Gangs of #Mumbai”, and “Real Criminal Don”. Officials stated that such glorification of a designated terrorist posed a direct threat to public order and national integrity, especially as the bus had begun attracting attention from local groups. The bus, operated by a #Coimbatore-based travel agency, was carrying 48 engineering students on a college trip to Dandeli in #UttaraKannada district. Police arranged an alternative vehicle to ensure the students’ safe return after the seizure. A suo motu case has been registered against the driver and owner under Section 197(1)(d) of the BNS, 2023. While the driver claimed he was only hired for the trip and had no knowledge of the stickers, police have summoned the owner, based in Coimbatore, to join the inquiry. 23 Students Booked as Ragging Incident Turns Violent at Devanahalli College,3 arrested Bengaluru The Devanahalli Police of #Bengaluru North East Division have registered a FIR against 23 senior students of #Akash Group of Institutions following a violent #ragging incident that escalated into a targeted assault and robbery. The FIR, filed on January 16, 2026, highlights a series of harrowing events that began as campus bullying and ended in a street-side brawl involving weapons. The ordeal began on January 14, 2026, when senior students from the MIT, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Diploma departments began terrorizing first-year BBA and BCA students. According to the complaint filed by Midhun Madhavan, the college's Admission Head, the seniors allegedly forced juniors to buy cigarettes and alcohol, carry their books, and follow arbitrary commands under the guise of campus "tradition". On the evening of January 15, around 5:00 pm, the harassment turned physical when seniors allegedly assaulted students Sushil Kumar and Harikrishna for failing to comply with demands. When Mr. Madhavan and a group of five students attempted to confront the seniors at a "Tea Hut" near Baichapura Road at 9:00 pm to resolve the matter, the situation turned explosive. Instead of a resolution, the seniors, allegedly joined by local outsiders, launched a coordinated attack. The mob used iron rods, wooden sticks, and stones to beat the staff member and the junior students. During the chaos, the primary accused, Bilal (A1), allegedly robbed a student named Krishnajeet of a gold chain weighing approximately 32 grams. A car belonging to one of the victims was also vandalized during the assault. The police have registered case under sections 115(2), 118(1) and 351(2). Additionally, charges were filed under Sections 116 and 137 of the Karnataka Education Act 1983, which specifically address the prohibition and penalty for ragging. Based on the complaint, police have booked Bilal, Ziril, Mishal, Arjun, Antony, Edrin, Saran, Adman, Noel, Baishudhen, Afail, Shiyas, Nishad, Junaid, Jainel, Shameel, Shanni, Shuhaib, Binto, Sabith, Adithyaraj, Mubashir,Naveen and others. Three Accused Bilal, Noushad and Afsal, all students aged between 21 and 22, have been placed under arrest. Police officials confirmed that the trio has been remanded to judicial custody, while efforts are underway to trace the remaining accused. Bengaluru College Suspends Three Staff Members After Student Forced to Remove Sacred Thread at CET Centre Bengaluru The Karnataka Examinations Authority (#KEA) has initiated an inquiry against three staff members following allegations that students were forced to remove their sacred threads (#Janivara) before entering a Common Entrance Test (CET) 2026 hall. The college administration has suspended the three staff members involved in the incident. The incident, which occurred on April 23, 2026, has sparked widespread outrage. The controversy surfaced after a student, appearing for Physics and Chemistry papers at #Krupanidhi Pre-University College, recounted his experience to the media. The candidate alleged that despite complying with rules regarding metallic objects, officials peeked under his clothing and demanded the removal of his religious thread. "I argued that I wasn’t wearing metallic items and nothing was written on it, but they wouldn’t let me in," the student stated. "They forced me to remove it. It’s our religious sentiment... I was so tense I could not write the exam properly." The student noted that at least three to four other candidates were subjected to similar demands. The Executive Director of the KEA addressed a formal letter to the District Collector of #Bengaluru City, expressing grave concern. The KEA clarified that explicit instructions had been issued during staff training,citing past controversies,stipulating that religious symbols such as the sacred thread and Lingayat Ishtalinga must not be removed. The KEA stated that if these guidelines were violated, it appears to be a “prima facie intentional act” by the personnel involved. Krupanidhi PU College Principal Ashim Afzal issued immediate suspension orders for three staff members: Mr. Sudhakar , Mrs. Saritha and Mrs. Girijamma. The suspension is pending a full investigation. Man Booked for Assault on Neighbour’s Pet Dog in Bengaluru Bengaluru In a shocking incident of animal cruelty, a man identified as Gopi allegedly assaulted his neighbour’s pet dog in Avverahalli on April 9. The attack reportedly followed an altercation after the #dog barked at his wife. According to police, the accused, said to be under the influence of alcohol, entered the neighbour’s premises and struck the tied dog multiple times with a wooden log, leaving it unconscious near the gate. The pet’s owner rushed the injured animal to a veterinary facility, where it received treatment and is now out of danger. The assault was captured on CCTV cameras installed at the residence. Acting on the complaint filed on April 11, Madanayakanahalli police registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita , 2023, Sections 325 and 329. Investigations are underway to determine further legal action. Animal welfare groups have strongly condemned the incident, demanding strict enforcement of laws to prevent such acts of cruelty.

7 Killed in Tragic Highway Accident Near Hosakote Bangalore Rural A devastating road accident on the Hosakote–Dabaspet Highway claimed seven lives on Friday. Lost Kerala Trekker Rescued After Four Days in Kodagu Forests Kodagu, Karnataka Sharanya, a 24 year old #IT professional from #Kerala, was found safe after surviving four harrowing days in the dense forests of the Western Ghats. Sharanya, a native of Nadapuram in #Kozhikode and employed in Kochi, had joined a 10-member trekking group to Tadiyandamol Hill, #Kodagu’s highest peak, on April 2. She became separated from her companions while returning, losing her way in the thick canopy. With her phone battery nearly drained and only a single bottle of water, she relied on her instincts to endure the ordeal. “I knew rescue teams would use drones to search,” she told reporters after her rescue. “So I tried to stay in open clearings where I could be spotted from above.” Her disappearance sparked a massive search operation led by the Karnataka Forest Department, Kodagu District Police, Anti-Naxal Force and local volunteers. Advanced technology, including thermal drones and a dog squad, was deployed to comb the rugged terrain. The breakthrough came when members of the #KudaTribe, renowned for their deep knowledge of the forest’s hidden trails, heard unusual sounds and discovered Sharanya sitting in a clearing. Though exhausted, she remained calm and composed. Forest Minister Ishwar Khandre praised the coordinated efforts of officials and local residents, calling the rescue “a testament to community spirit and resilience.” Sharanya was taken to a nearby medical facility for routine checks. Despite the physical strain of her ordeal, she was seen smiling and expressing heartfelt gratitude to the volunteers and officials who ensured her safe return. This remarkable survival story has not only highlighted the dangers of trekking in dense forests but also underscored the critical role of local communities and modern technology in rescue operations. Woman Suffers Severe Injuries in Dog Attack at HSR Layout; Owner Booked Bengaluru A morning walk turned tragic for a resident of Teachers Colony in HSR Layout, #Bengaluru, when she was mauled by a #PetDog, leaving her with severe injuries. The incident occurred around 6:00 am on January 26 at 13th Cross Road. According to the FIR filed at the #HSRLayout Police Station, the victim, Shalini Dubey, was attacked by a dog belonging to local resident Amaresh Reddy. The complainant, her husband, stated that the attack was so forceful it knocked his wife to the ground. The #dog bit her on the face, hands, and legs, resulting in significant blood loss. The family prioritised medical treatment for Shalini, which led to a two-day delay in approaching the police. The FIR was formally registered on the evening of January 28. The case has been registered under BNS Sections 117(3), 125 and 291 against Amaresh Reddy.
