DELTA STATE POLICE COMMAND PRESS RELEASE POLICE ARREST POPULAR CONTENT CREATOR ( POPULARLY KNOWN AS ODOGWU OF ASABA) OVER ALLEGED RAPE OF 20-YEAR-OLD WOMAN The Delta State Police Command has arrested Ifeanyi Ogbonna, male, aged 40, also populary known as “Odogwu of Asaba,” in connection with the alleged rape of a 20-year-old woman, who later died. The arrest followed a petition received by the Command alleging that on 1 June 2026, the deceased travelled to Asaba at the invitation of the suspect, who had offered to train her in content creation, a programme he reportedly promoted through his social media platform. Upon her arrival in Asaba, the suspect allegedly took her to a hotel, where he allegedly raped her and subjected her to physical violence. She later returned home visibly distressed and disclosed the incident to her parents. In the aftermath of the alleged assault, the deceased made a video recording in which she recounted her experience and the emotional distress she suffered following the incident. She subsequently commited suicide by ingesting a toxic substance and later died despite efforts to save her life. Upon receipt of the petition, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, psc, acipm, mnips, directed the Area Command Effurun to carry out an immediate and thorough investigation into the allegations. Acting on the directive, operatives of the Command swiftly commenced investigation, leading to the arrest of Ifeanyi Ogbonna, also known as “Odogwu of Asaba.” During preliminary investigation, the suspect reportedly made useful statements to the Police, while further investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the case. The Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, psc, acipm, mnips, has assured the family of the deceased and the public that the case will be thoroughly investigated and that no aspect of the allegations will be overlooked. He further reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring that the investigation is conducted professionally and that appropriate legal action is taken in accordance with the law. SP. Do you still remember this video? Case of alleged injustice, brutality: IGP personally intervenes, orders thorough investigation. The IGP today attended to the case in a video that went viral recently, where one Bawa alleged the police operatives attached to Nasarawa CID of brutality, wrongful detention, etc The IGP eventually directed a team of investigators at the FHQ to investigate and report as soon as possible. As NPF-NCCC Apprehends Anonymous Hacker In an effort to protect national security, maintain public order, identify and apprehend those engaged in criminal activities threatening the stability of our nation, the operatives of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Center (NPF-NCCC) have apprehended an Anonymous hacker in connection with alleged criminal conspiracy, offences against the Official Secrets Act, leakage of classified 'restricted' documents, acts likely to cause breach of public peace, sedition, fraud, and tax evasion. The complaint, filed by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, (OSGF), alleged that an anonymous blogger using the Twitter handle 99% OPPRESSED. published and distributed a restricted document on a sensitive matter of national security. A discrete investigation was initiated to identify those responsible for the leakage, which led to the identification of Bristol Isaac Tamunobifiri, Michael Temidayo Alade, and David Hundeyin, as suspects in connection with the alleged crimes. The principal suspect, Bristol Isaac Tamunobifiri was apprehended at a hotel in Port Harcourt on Saturday, 5th August 2024, by NPF-NCCC detectives, and in an attempt to resist arrest, the suspect locked himself in a hotel room, smashed his phone, and flushed it down the toilet in an effort to destroy evidence. He also refused to surrender his phone's password, claiming he had forgotten it, thereby concealing information. Subsequent investigations, after his arrest, revealed several suspicious activities between the principal suspect and his accomplices. Investigations also revealed that the suspect was responsible for leaking a sensitive restricted document generated from the office of the President to the Secretary of the Government of the Federation. The suspect had also illegally accessed police-restricted data and posted directives from the office of the Inspector-General of Police, and many other restricted documents with the aim of jeopardizing the security network in Nigeria. It has also been established that the suspect also raised funds through anonymous means to sponsor cyberterrorism and other related crimes. Evidence of this was derived after critical forensic analysis of the suspect’s crypto wallet transactions. The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun PhD. NPM., has reaffirmed the commitment of the Force to maintaining peace and also reiterated that the Nigeria Police Force remains vigilant to take swift and severe action against any individual or group threatening the country's stability, ensuring they face the full force of the law. The IGP assures members of the public that further investigations will continue to uncover all facets of this conspiracy. The suspect has however been charged to court and remanded in prison custody. Incident of Police Misconduct in Kwara State: We have taken action in response to the recent incident involving officers from Kwara State Police Command who were captured assaulting a member of the public in a viral video.
