#AtariSTE 50fps racer: Spent recent days optimising hard to free up enough CPU time for 4 on-screen opponent cars plus banging chiptune track (thanks Dma-sc!) to accompany digital effects. Chiptune sounds great and adds some urgency to the proceedings, don't you think?

Latest build of #AtariSTE FASTER (formerly "50fps racer") running on real hardware - an 8MHz Atari STE with 1 meg of RAM. The closest to Super Scaler you can get on your STE! Note the new smoothly scaling lampposts. Speedo code has just been rebuilt to use less CPU/Blitter time.

FASTER for #Amiga OCS/ECS: I never imagined saying this in a million years, but I seem to be struggling to get the performance I need out of the blitter, and I don't even have all the stuff on screen yet! Anybody know a faster way of rendering bobs than the cookie cutter method?

Do not fear, FASTER for #AtariSTE is still very much alive and kicking! Just waiting for a few audio assets to come in before I build the final version to submit to Silly Venture 2024 WE on 5th - 8th December. Binary release and source code will follow after the compo. 🚗🏎️

FASTER for #AtariSTE: this is the feature complete v1.0 build that I'll be submitting to the Silly Venture 2024 WE demoparty game compo from 5th - 8th December 2024. The game will be made available to the public right after the demoparty, and the source code will follow. 👍🚗

#AtariSTE 50fps racer: a couple of people have suggested that the road is too narrow. Here's how it looks with a wider road and four lanes rather than 3. Thoughts? I feel like it'll play a bit better but I'm also feeling a bit of a loss in the sensation of speed too.

This is news to me. "Prime Mover" is a 1993 racer for the OCS/ECS Amiga that appears to run at 50fps. Thanks to Toni Gálvez - Batman Group - for bringing it to my attention! ➕ Tons of colour, and hills! ➖Big status display, cramped playing area. Very, very impressive use of the Amiga!
