Dear Commissioner, MCG Pradeep Dahiya ji, This is a formal escalation regarding Nirvana Central Road, Sector 50, Gurugram. Around 8 weeks ago, a perfectly serviceable road was stripped of its bituminous top layer. Residents and commuters have since endured weeks of severe dust pollution, followed by the onset of the monsoon, with potholes, an uneven surface and water accumulation creating entirely foreseeable road safety risks. This follows an entire month of dust pollution during the median works in April. Residents have now been subjected to months of avoidable hardship due to poor planning and execution. The question is simple: Why was a usable road stripped when there was no realistic plan to restore it before the monsoon? This was an MCG public works project executed at the ward level. Who is accountable for this planning failure? What message does this send about compliance with CAQM’s dust-control directions and the responsibility owed to citizens? We request your immediate intervention to inspect the road, ensure temporary repairs to address the current hazards, prioritise recarpeting as soon as weather permits, and fix accountability for the planning failures that have compromised public health and road safety. We had raised this issue with the Ward Councillor, Bharti Manish Harsana, on 13 June, but no effective action has followed. Just recorded a clip from a moving car of the kilometres-long footpaths outside the Lutyens Delhi bungalows. Wide footpaths, thick trees and hedges, clean well-paved roads, no dust flying around, no dirt piled on the sides, no potholes, beautiful dense foliage - for many of us living in NCR this honestly looks like Switzerland. These stretches are perfectly suited not just for walking, but even for cycling. At a time when there is a broader call to walk more, cycle more and reduce fuel consumption, one wonders why such standards of walkability remain limited to select zones. The contrast becomes even sharper when one thinks of the broken footpaths, dust pollution and unsafe walking conditions across large parts of Gurgaon and other cities. How quickly can such standards become normal for ordinary citizens as well? This is your construction site near Bhaktawar Chowk, Sector 47, Gurugram. IKEA IKEAIndia - I wonder if your construction sites in other parts of the world, including Sweden are managed in a similar manner? For the past 4 years, this area has effectively been a dust bowl during construction. The service road was completely broken thanks to plying of heavy construction vehicles - it has only recently become somewhat motorable, but air quality around the site remains severely impacted. Recorded this today around 7 pm (19/05/2026) in and around Sector 50 & Nirvana Country, Gurugram, extending toward Sector 65. After noticing very poor air conditions, I drove roughly 1.5 km through the area for a wider check. What I saw on ground is hard to process. The worst conditions were concentrated around Sector 65, blanketed in dust - multiple active construction sites and large projects with effectively zero dust control measures. Along with this, broken and unpaved stretches and constant movement of vehicles over loose soil are creating continuous dust clouds. In several areas visibility dropped so badly that cars were using fog lights in broad daylight. Respected Commission for Air Quality Management ,Central Pollution Control Board and HSPCB GURUGRAM NORTH kindly note this is not normal dust or routine construction impact. It is uncontrolled dust pollution in a densely populated residential belt. The dust clouds are enveloping our areas. Neither the project proponents nor the public land-owning / road maintenance authorities appear to be making any effort to contain this massive dust generation, nor are they complying with basic construction dust containment guidelines (NGT norms). This is especially severe around Sector 65, directly impacting facing sectors like 49,50,51, 64, 67 and also worsened by dug-up stretches along GCER, turning the entire belt into a continuous dust zone. This is directly affecting residents and school-going children along these roads. 7 prominent schools in and around these sectors ! With GRAP Stage 1 now imposed by the Commission for Air Quality Management, enforcement is supposed to be stricter. But what is visible on ground is clear non-compliance. This needs immediate inspection and strict enforcement. Stop Work Where Norms Are Being Violated .
