"It took 10 years. Every day, with dreams in my eyes, I would ask myself if this was just a dream or if it would ever come true. Today, July 11, 2024, it became a reality. Yes, dreams do come true.” says Amita Prajapati. Sharing a heartwarming video on LinkedIn, Amita captured the emotional moment of hugging her father and crying tears of joy as a decade's hard work finally paid off. Amita's journey wasn't paved with privilege. Growing up in a slum and facing academic challenges, she battled societal doubt and financial limitations. Yet, she refused to be deterred. "Some people used to say, 'slum-dwellers, with unbelievable minds,'" – This became her fuel. Amita's success wouldn't have been possible without the support of her father, a Delhi tea seller who silently endured taunts questioning their financial choices and Amita's potential. As Amita reveals, some questioned her father's choices, saying, "They used to say you can’t afford to educate her so much by selling tea. Save money and build a house instead. Anyway, one day they will leave as they are someone else's wealth, and you will have nothing left." Today, Amita stands tall not just as a Chartered Accountant but as a beacon of hope. "And now," she adds with pride, "I am capable enough to build a house for my father. I can fulfill all his wishes." Every Day, This Couple Travels 54 KM To Water The Saplings They Planted! Ramesh Kharmane, a forest guard from Dhamankhel village in Junnar taluka, Maharashtra, and his wife are setting an inspiring example of environmental conservation. In 2012, Ramesh left his job in the Army and returned home to care for his mother during her treatment. It was during this time that he made a commitment to protect the environment, with his wife supporting him at every step. Together, they spent 60 consecutive days carrying out around 300 hours of voluntary labour on a hilltop, digging 70 pits by hand to conserve rainwater. Their work covered an area of approximately 412 metres and aimed to help rainwater seep into the ground and ease the village’s water crisis. Their efforts also earned them a place in the Indian Book of Records. Even today, the couple continues to plant native saplings, preserve seeds and care for the trees they have planted. Through scorching heat and difficult terrain, they travel 54 KM every day to keep their mission alive. For them, protecting the environment isn’t a one-day activity. It’s a lifelong commitments.

He spent nearly 3 years perfecting a set of measuring spoons, changed manufacturers 7 times, and travelled to China 16 times. Now, Indian entrepreneur Rahul Agarwal has struck a $350,000 deal on Shark Tank US. His innovation? Flat, magnetic measuring spoons that open up when you need them, measure both solid and liquid ingredients, and fold away neatly when you’re done. No bulky spoons tangled together in a kitchen drawer. No dangling, jingling teaspoons. Even actor Mindy Kaling, who loves cooking Indian food, was sold on the idea. “I think this is really ingenious,” she said during Rahul’s pitch, before teaming up with investor Lori Greiner to make him an offer. But getting these seemingly simple spoons ready for sale was anything but easy. Their tiny interlocking hinges made manufacturing so difficult that Rahul had to change manufacturers seven times before he could finally start shipping the product. The persistence paid off. His company, Plygons, had recorded $4 million in lifetime sales, including $1.25 million in the previous year. And despite those numbers, Rahul said he paid himself a basic salary of just $500 a month. He walked away with a deal worth $350,000 for 8% equity, plus an additional 2% in advisory equity from Kaling and Greiner. His bigger ambition? To redesign everyday household objects so they take up less space when we don't need them. #SharkTank #IndianEntrepreneurs #StartupStories #ProductDesign #Innovation [Indian entrepreneur Rahul Agarwal Shark Tank deal, Plygons flat magnetic measuring spoons, Mindy Kaling Lori Greiner investment, space saving kitchen measuring spoons, Indian founder startup success story, innovative kitchen gadgets for small spaces, Rahul Agarwal product development journey]

In a heart-stopping moment of courage, Bhavesh Mhatre, a passerby from Thane, became a real-life hero when he ran to catch a two-year-old girl falling from a 13th-floor balcony in January. The child, who had been playing on her balcony, slipped and was left dangling for a moment before falling. Although Mhatre couldn’t fully break the fall, his swift actions softened the impact, preventing a tragic outcome. Thanks to his quick reflexes, the toddler survived the terrifying fall with only minor injuries. “I was passing by the building and didn’t think twice before moving forward,” Mhatre shared. His bravery and selflessness have won the hearts of thousands. His heroic act earned praise from civic officials, who have announced plans to honour him publicly for his bravery. #RealLifeHero #ThaneHero #BhaveshMhatre #EverydayHeroes #InspiringStories #DombivliRescue #Mumbai

For years, Kala-Azar was a death sentence for some of India’s poorest families. And treatment itself felt like punishment. 15 injections. Every alternate day. A drug that sometimes caused dangerous heart complications. For many families, surviving the disease wasn’t the only battle, a month away from work often meant losing the income that kept food on the table. Prof. Shyam Sundar from Banaras Hindu University looked at this reality and asked: What if one dose is enough? In 2010, his landmark study in the New England Journal of Medicine showed that a single-dose liposomal amphotericin B treatment could cure Kala-Azar with a 95.6% success rate. One breakthrough changed everything. He also helped introduce rapid diagnostic strip tests that cut detection time from weeks to minutes. WHO updated treatment protocols. The medicine that cost nearly ₹19,000 per vial started reaching India free through donation programmes. Today, India has moved from battling Kala-Azar outbreaks to pushing toward elimination. And behind that story is a professor who spent decades making sure poverty didn’t decide who lives and who dies. #PadmaShri #HealthcareHeroes #MedicalInnovation #PublicHealth #IndiaNews [Padma Shri, Kala Azar, Public Health, Medical Innovation]

For three long days, a pregnant Gangetic dolphin fought for survival after getting trapped in a fast-flowing canal in Uttar Pradesh's Maharajganj district. The 7.2-foot-long, 147-kg dolphin had been swept into the Paratawal canal during heavy rains. An initial rescue attempt failed, but the teams refused to give up. On Monday, the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department, Gorakhpur Zoo, TSA Foundation, the Irrigation Department, Uttar Pradesh Police, and the Namami Gange Gangetic Dolphin Rescue Ambulance came together for a second rescue mission. To ensure she reached safety without delay, authorities created a 20-km green corridor from Bhatkhat to Rajghat. The rescue ambulance then covered 52 km in just 1 hour and 5 minutes before releasing her safely into the Rapti River. The Gangetic dolphin is India's National Aquatic Animal and an important indicator of the Ganga's ecological health. This wasn't just the rescue of an endangered species—it also saved the unborn calf she was carrying. Here's to every person who made this extraordinary mission possible. 💙 🎥 Credit: Namami Gange (Namami Gange ) #WildlifeConservation #NatureLovers #InspiringIndia #ConservationSuccess #PositiveNews [Gangetic Dolphin, Ganga Dolphin Rescue, Pregnant Gangetic Dolphin, National Aquatic Animal of India, Namami Gange, Uttar Pradesh Forest Department, Gorakhpur Zoo] Original post by द बेटर इंडिया (The Better India - Hindi)

The celebrations may be over, but someone still has work to do. After Ganpati Visarjan in Songadh, Gujarat, the streets were left covered in gulal, flowers and waste from the festivities. As the crowds moved on, sanitation workers stepped in. With brooms, tools and hours of hard work, they cleared the roads and helped bring the city back to its usual rhythm. Their work may happen after the music stops and the crowds disappear, but it is an essential part of what comes next. This Ganpati season, these workers remind us that celebrating a festival also comes with a responsibility towards the spaces we share. #GanpatiVisarjan #SanitationWorkers #CivicSense #SMEdit [Songadh Gujarat post Ganpati Visarjan cleanup by sanitation workers]

Imagine being greeted at a luxury hotel by someone with four paws and a wagging tail! :feet: Meet Thumki, the beloved mascot of Taj Bengal. Born on the hotel campus to her mother Chumki, Thumki chose to stay back while her sister found a new home. Today, she’s an integral part of the Taj Bengal family. Every morning at 4:30 am, Thumki takes her ‘perimeter rounds,’ inspecting the grounds, chasing birds, and doing her part to keep the campus lively. By the time guests start their day, she retreats to her cozy shelter near the parking lot, always respectful of her human visitors. Thanks to the compassion of Senior Vice President Operations K. Mohanchandran and his wife Seema, an animal rescuer, Thumki and other campus dogs now have safe shelters, vaccinations, and ongoing care. Even when Thumki curiously wandered into the grand hotel lobby one day, she was met with smiles and kindness before being gently guided back. Because true hospitality is not about marble floors. Technology gives precision. But beauty? It still flows through the sculptor’s touch. Meet Viraj Khatavkar, a third-generation sculptor from Pune carrying his family’s 70-year legacy forward. His grandfather was the first to craft a fiberglass Ganesh idol at Tulshibaug in 1975, after decades of handmaking Utsav Murtis as tall as 14 feet. When asked to recreate Honaji Tarun Mandal’s 125-year-old Ganesh idol — a rare 21-inch piece showing the deity in a tilted wrestling pose. Viraj knew precision by hand alone would be near impossible. So he earned his Master’s in 3D Modelling & Reverse Engineering. Using scanners, software, and robotic carving, he turned the original into a stunning 3-foot Utsav Murti. What usually takes 2.5 months by hand was finished in 1 month, without losing the intricate artistry. “This smart work and technology offer maximum accuracy,” says Viraj. And his journey goes beyond idols—on March 8, 2025, Viraj helped craft the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue unveiled in Tokyo—a proud Indo-Japan cultural milestone. If you could preserve one tradition with new-age tech, what would it be? Share in the comments. #VirajKhatavkar #Pune #3DModelling #VideoStandalone #ganeshchaturthi [Ganesh idol, Viraj Khatavkar sculptor, Pune, Ganesh Chaturthi]

For a newborn elephant calf, the Teesta River became a terrifying journey away from his mother. Only 3–4 days old, he was swept nearly 5 km downstream by the river’s powerful currents while crossing with his mother. As the calf struggled to stay afloat, five local fishermen spotted him and rushed into the dangerous waters, risking their own lives to pull him to safety. But getting him out of the river was only half the rescue. The little calf kept calling for his mother, so the fishermen and forest personnel from Baikunthapur Forest Division began searching the river-island area for her. After nearly two hours, they found her. The calf was reunited with his mother and was seen nursing before the two moved back towards the forest. #ElephantRescue #WildlifeRescue #TeestaRiver #WildlifeConservation [elephant calf rescue, Teesta River elephant rescue, elephant rescued by fishermen, wildlife rescue in West Bengal, Baikunthapur Forest Division]

At -20°C, when even reaching a hospital was a struggle, Dr Tsering Landol took healthcare to the women who couldn’t reach it. Ladakh’s first practising female gynaecologist didn’t just deliver babies. She challenged taboos, travelled to remote villages, educated women and girls, and kept serving long after retirement. From studying science in Urdu because she didn’t know English to being honoured with both the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan, her journey is a reminder that sometimes, changing a community begins with simply showing up. And Dr Landol kept showing up — one woman, one delivery and one broken taboo at a time. Scroll down to know her extraordinary story. → #TseringLandol #Ladakh #WomensHealth #BeingTheChange #PadmaBhushan [Dr Tsering Landol, Ladakh, Women’s Health, Maternal Healthcare, Padma Bhushan, Being The Change]

In 2014, an accident changed Prateek Khandelwal’s life forever. A spinal cord injury left him paralysed from the waist down and using a wheelchair. For a while, he shut himself away. Then came recovery, his first steps, and eventually a bigger realisation: the problem wasn’t just his mobility. It was the way India’s public spaces were built. In 2018, that realisation became RampMyCity. What began with a single ramp at a Bengaluru café has grown into an accessibility movement. From restaurants and schools to hospitals, police stations and public spaces, RampMyCity has helped make 500+ places more accessible, impacting 3 lakh+ lives directly and indirectly. Because accessibility is not a favour. It is the freedom to enter, travel, work, explore, and live independently. “People called me a witch. They said I looked like an alien.” But they never saw the little girl behind those words. At five, Soniya Gupta was healthy. Then her bones became fragile, her hair began falling out, and her body slowly changed. Doctors ruled out Progeria, but the stares and cruel comments continued. Dance became her escape—until her principal told her she could never be a dancer. She went home heartbroken. But her best friend reminded her: if they wouldn’t give her a stage, she could create her own. So Soniya began sharing dance videos online. The trolling was relentless, but so were the messages from people who said her courage helped them embrace themselves. Today, she keeps dancing—not just for herself, but for every child who has ever felt “too different” to dream. Because you don’t have to look like everyone else to deserve your place in the spotlight. ❤️ #InspiringStories #WomenWhoInspire #Dance #NeverGiveUp #PersonalStruggle [Soniya Gupta, Inspirational Story, Dance Inspiration, Overcoming Challenges, Self Belief, Inspiring Woman]

Some actors lead the story. Some become the reason you remember it. Mushtaq Khan was one of those actors. Across more than 500 films, he played countless characters, often in supporting roles. Yet, even with limited screen time, he had a way of making a character stay with you. From Welcome and Gadar to Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, his face became familiar across generations of Hindi cinema. His journey began with a love for performing that took him from school plays to theatre, and eventually to the big screen. Today, as we remember Mushtaq Khan, we remember the laughter, the characters and those little moments that made films feel more alive. Thank you for making even the smallest roles unforgettable. Rest in peace, Mushtaq Khan.❤️ #MushtaqKhan #MushtaqKhanDeath #Bollywood #HindiCinema #IndianCinema [Mushtaq Khan passed away Tribute]
