Follow-up care for Ebola survivors is an essential part of any Ebola outbreak response. After discharge from treatment centres, survivors need continued physical and psychosocial support, provided through dedicated survivor follow-up clinics. With support from OCHA Funds and Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, World Health Organization (WHO) has helped establish the first two clinics, in Bunia and Beni. 🎥 Follow the journey of an Ebola survivor at the Bunia clinic.

📍 In #Aba, Haut-Uélé Province 🇨🇩, health authorities in the #DRC and #SouthSudan, with support from World Health Organization (WHO), are strengthening cross-border cooperation to prevent the spread of #Ebola. A joint roadmap will guide efforts to enhance disease surveillance, share information and protect host communities and nearly 22,000 South Sudanese refugees living in #Méri camp.

Intensive efforts are underway to control the #Ebola outbreak in the #DRC, where it has become the country’s fastest-growing just over three months since it was declared. The priority now is to scale up key response measures further and faster - from disease surveillance, contact tracing and treatment to working even more closely with communities - to end the spread and save more lives.

In Beni, DRC, the #Ebola response continues to strengthen thanks to the commitment of government, communities, and partners. Chikwe Ihekweazu, Executive Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Health Emergencies Programme, and Julien Harneis, UN Senior Ebola Coordinator in the DRC, together with national authorities, Africa CDC, and partners, visited Beni to assess response efforts and support ongoing operations.
