Windows 11’s hidden CPU boost is now available in the May optional update! I installed KB5089573 (Build 26200.8524) and tested the Low Latency Profile again. For now, this feature does not make your apps launch faster, as that particular change is not included in today's update. However, the Low Latency Profile currently makes OS flyouts load faster. This means the Start menu opens with less lag, and Action Center feels smoother. Plus, right-click menus show less of that annoying rendering delay. On slower PCs, this should matter even more because Windows briefly pushes the CPU harder during shell interactions, then lets it drop back to idle. Some people call this a lazy band-aid, but that misses the point. macOS and Linux already have similar tricks. This is how modern systems make interactions feel instant. The real win comes when Microsoft combines this with native WinUI 3 work and less WebView2 bloat. Windows 11 finally feels like it’s being tuned for responsiveness again.

This is the new modern 'Run' dialog on Windows 11, coming soon. Modern Run is going to be an optional feature that needs to be turned on from Settings > System > Advanced. This means the new modern Windows Run won't replace the legacy Run dialog... at least for now. And since it's an optional feature inside the 'Advanced' settings page, we wonder if modern Run will eventually get new features...

Tested: Windows 11’s ‘faster’ File Explorer (preloaded) is still slower than Windows 10. On a 4GB RAM test machine, File Explorer used ~32.4MB of RAM without preloading. After turning on preloading, Windows quietly adds ~35MB more. So Explorer now sits at ~67.4MB in memory before you even open it. 35MB isn’t a big deal in 2025. Your browser eats that for breakfast. That's not the point of my testing. Why is the preloaded File Explorer still slower than Windows 10? I made a video to compare the two versions.

Microsoft denies rewriting Windows 11 using AI after an employee’s “one engineer, one month, one million lines of code” post on LinkedIn causes outrage. "Windows is *NOT* being rewritten in Rust with AI" -- Microsoft. Since this has Microsoft's attention, it's the right time to remind everyone about the lack of "native" code for UI-level features in Windows 11, as everything is moving to WebView2. For example, in recent Windows 11 builds, Notification Center's Agenda view is built using WebView2, and you'll notice spike in web resources (Edge-related processes) when you open Notification Center.

Microsoft still can’t decide what Copilot should be on Windows 11. Microsoft is testing a new Copilot docking experience, and it feels like Microsoft is quietly going back to the original sidebar idea. Copilot still opens as an app by default, but there’s now a new title bar menu with custom snapping options. You can keep it as a normal app, use picture-in-picture, or dock Copilot to the left or right side of the desktop. When docked, Windows 11 resizes your workspace around Copilot. Your apps move aside, File Explorer adjusts, and Copilot stays pinned to the edge instead of floating like a separate window.

Windows on Arm is finally getting ready for gaming! Fortnite now runs on Snapdragon-powered Windows PCs. It's one of the major changes being rolled out to Windows on Arm PCs. Recently, Microsoft also enabled new CPU features for Windows on Arm emulation tech called 'Prism.' It now exposes AVX/AVX2, which allows high-performance computing. This enables support for game engines and resource-intensive apps that expect AVX and won’t start without it. You’ll see big gains in compatibility and mixed results in speed. Unlike traditional PCs, Snapdragon PCs offer up to 22 hours of battery life with no drop in performance when unplugged.

Demo: Windows 11 just reboots when you try to bypass the Microsoft account requirement during OOBE (out of box experience, first setup screen). Microsoft has blocked start ms-cxh:localonly or start ms-cxh://setaddlocalonly oobe/bypassnro was already patched. Windows 11 will reboot in a loop when you try to bypass the MSA requirement. The setup does not proceed when you try to bypass again and again. In the case of Windows 11 Pro, you can still use Domain Join and create a local account. Windows 10 Home does not support Domain Join. These changes are only live in Windows 11 preview builds. Stable builds of 25H2/24H2 still allow you to bypass MSA.

Okay, here's a crazy Windows 11 bug... I connected to Bluetooth on Windows 11, and the volume keeps jumping from 50 to 100 on its own, and every time I try to bring it down, it immediately forces itself back, like it’s fighting user input 😂 It’s funny at first, but this is exactly the kind of basic reliability issue that shouldn’t exist in Windows 11. It's not a hardware issue, as restarting Windows and repairing Bluetooth fixes it. Microsoft says 2026 will focus on fixing core Windows problems, and honestly, Bluetooth stability and audio controls need to be part of that push.

Microsoft’s preload trick works for launch speed.... but it just doesn’t fix the deeper performance problems users have been shouting about since Windows 11 shipped. Watch the before-preload and after-preload comparison of File Explorer on Windows 11. It's faster. Video in slow motion.

This is the new Start menu in Windows 11, coming soon to your PC: The new Start menu uses a scrollable single page layout for everything, allowing easy access without clutter. And.... the "Recommended" section can now be hidden! Apps are now clearly grouped by categories like "Utilities & Tools," "Productivity," "Games," and "Entertainment." What do you think?
