To reduce the risk of wildfire and support public safety, we are planning for a likely Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) beginning on Saturday, March 14, around 2 p.m., potentially impacting about 43,000 customers in Boulder and Jefferson counties. The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for this weather event and has indicated this will be the warmest and driest day of this stretch of high fire danger. Wildfire risk and outages are expected to continue through the weekend. Prepare for potential outages now, especially if you use medical equipment that requires electricity. Based on current forecasts of extreme wind and critically dry conditions, a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) will be required for customers in Boulder, Clear Creek, Gilpin, Jefferson, Larimer and Weld counties on Friday, Dec. 19, beginning as early as 5 a.m. Weather conditions are expected to start improving around 6 p.m. Friday evening, though high winds that may create wildfire risk and cause outages are expected to continue through the evening. As with yesterday’s weather, there may be unplanned outages outside of the PSPS event due to high winds or Enhanced Powerline Safety Settings. For updated information on restoration efforts and potential areas of impact, visit: In the meantime, crews are working to restore power for all customers impacted by yesterday’s weather and our initial PSPS. We are preparing for critical fire weather and elevated wildfire risk in Colorado on Monday. Evolving weather forecasts from Sunday for Monday include very high winds, low humidity and dry vegetation. As a public safety measure to prevent wildfires, we are evaluating the potential need to proactively turn off power for customers in Adams, Boulder, Jefferson and eastern Denver counties, starting on Monday, Oct. 20, at around 11 a.m. Temporarily shutting off power – known as a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) – is not a step taken lightly and is only used when other methods are not enough to help prevent wildfires. We are planning for a possible Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) beginning on March. 14 around 2 p.m., impacting customers in Boulder and Jefferson counties. Weather conditions are expected to start improving around 5 p.m., March. 14, though high winds that may create wildfire risk and cause outages are expected to continue through the weekend. It is possible that customers impacted by weather-related outages on Thursday, March 12, may experience additional disruption due to either a possible PSPS or high winds on Saturday, March 14. We recognize that is a significant inconvenience and we work hard to limit the time customers spend without power. Prepare for potential outages now, especially if you use medical equipment that requires electricity. To learn more about the evolving situation, visit

We are preparing for forecasted extreme weather and may need to conduct a targeted Public Safety Power Shutoff for about 9,000 customers in Larimer and Weld counties, including in parts of Fort Collins and nearby communities to the north and west to reduce wildfire risk. Customers are encouraged to review the outage map:

We are closely monitoring and preparing for strong winds, low relative humidity and very dry conditions, resulting in high wildfire risk, forecast to start in western Colorado on Wednesday, April 22, beginning in the morning with peak winds expected in the afternoon, and along the northern Front Range on Thursday, April 23. Most of western Colorado is experiencing Extreme to Exceptional drought due to the record warm and dry winter. To reduce the risk of wildfire and support public safety, we are evaluating the need for a potential Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) for some customers in western Colorado beginning the morning of Wednesday, April 22. High winds also heighten the risk of damage to our power lines and may cause outages. We encourage you to prepare for potential outages now, especially if you use medical equipment that requires electricity. To learn more about the evolving situation, visit

We continue to plan for a likely Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) beginning on March 14th around 2 p.m., impacting around 18,000 customers in Boulder and Jefferson counties. Weather conditions are expected to start improving between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on March 14, though high winds that may create wildfire risk and cause outages are expected to continue through the weekend. Please note, due to anticipated high winds, outages could take place outside of areas impacted by a PSPS, impacting restoration times. Restoring outages from a significant weather event or PSPS may take several hours to several days. This is because crews must inspect power lines and repair damage before they can be safely re-energized. Prepare for potential outages now, especially if you use medical equipment that requires electricity. To learn more about the evolving situation, visit

Wind gusts reached 90-100 mph in some areas of the Front Range yesterday evening, and as soon as it was safe, crews mobilized to assess damage, patrol lines, and inspect equipment. Restoration work has started and will be ongoing for several days as our teams battle with an additional round of severe wind tomorrow morning. We appreciate your patience and kindness to our crews as they navigate difficult conditions.
