Meanwhile, our homeless and our veterans are struggling, people are living in temporary accommodation, and many cannot even afford basic meals. Around 8.30pm on Wednesday, a Delhi police officer was... chased and beaten up by a crowd at Sansad Marg near the Park hotel in central Delhi. He was hit multiple times on the head by sticks. Moments later, Cockroach Janta Party volunteers were brought in by police to help calm down the crowd. Once again at midnight, the Sindh police violently attacked... a peaceful protest organized in solidarity with the Baloch Yakjehti Committee’s Baloch Raaji Muchi and in opposition to the brutal crackdown on the movement. Three wanted suspects have been killed in a gunfight... with KZN police in Kranskop during the early hours of this morning. According to the SAPS: "Police acted on intelligence which uncovered the whereabout of the suspects and when they approached a residence at Mambulu area, a shootout ensued between police and an unknown number of suspects. Three suspects were shot and fatally wounded during the shootout and they were found in possession of firearms." The men are linked to this brazen cash van robbery in Kranskop in April this year, where one robber was killed in the explosion. During the incident, the gunmen also fired shots at the local police station. More armed suspects - who were able to escape arrest this morning - are still being sought. BYC condemns the use of force against the family... members of Zaheer Baloch and other peaceful protesters in the strongest terms. Today, the 11-day sit-in protest by the families of forcibly disappeared Baloch individuals was attacked by the forces when they were marching towards the Red Zone. Elderly men, women, and children were subjected to brutal violence, including live firing. Dozens of protesters were taken into custody and shifted to unknown locations. For decades, the state institutions' response to peaceful demonstrations has been violence and intimidation. The forced disappearances and genocide of the Baloch people continue, and when the families and civil society protest, they are treated with cruelty, beaten, dragged, and imprisoned. After facing severe crackdown, the protesters have reorganized and continued their protest. At this hour, rescue operations continue in Novhorod-Siverskyi following... a massive Russian drone attack on the city. Around twenty Shaheds were used, causing extensive destruction. Four civilians have been confirmed killed — two men and two women. At least seven people have been injured, including a 10-year-old girl who is being transferred to the regional children’s hospital. Large-scale protests have been continuing in Iran for five... days now. They were triggered by a sharp collapse of the national currency and a rapid surge in prices. Inflation has reached around 40%, while food prices have risen by 60-70%. The rial at one point fell to 1.4 million per US dollar. This led to demonstrations which, in several provinces, escalated into violent clashes with security forces. According to human rights groups and media reports, at least six people have been killed, dozens wounded, and more than a hundred protesters detained. There are also reports of casualties among security forces, including members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Basij militia. Amid the protests, demonstrators are burning symbols of the regime, including monuments to General Qasem Soleimani, who was killed by the United States on January 3, 2020. Authorities have introduced heightened security measures and effectively imposed martial law in certain cities. ATM Stolen in Early-Morning Smash-and-Grab at Southwest Side Gas... Station Thieves targeted a Shell gas station in Chicago’s McKinley Park neighborhood early Saturday, smashing their way into the business and stealing an ATM, according to Chicago police. The incident happened around 5:17 a.m. in the 3500 block of South Damen Avenue. Police said five suspects were involved in the theft, which left significant damage to the storefront, including a shattered front glass door. A damaged vehicle was also found at the scene.
