Today we're excited to announce NO_FLICKER mode for Claude... Code in the terminal It uses an experimental new renderer that we're excited about. The renderer is early and has tradeoffs, but already we've found that most internal users prefer it over the old renderer. It also supports mouse events (yes, in a terminal). Try it: CLAUDE_CODE_NO_FLICKER=1 claudeshow more

AI writing can sound robotic. But it doesn’t have... to. Enter: Compound Writing. Most people use AI for writing like a vending machine: one prompt in, finished piece out. Then they're disappointed when it doesn't sound like them. Katie Parrott uses AI to write every day, but she doesn’t let it draft a whole piece for her in one shot. Before she drafts, the model interviews her with 15-30 questions to draw out her thinking. Then it outlines, drafts, and reviews with her, one section at a time. When a session teaches her something worth keeping, she saves it to her voice and style files. The next piece gets a head start. She packaged the whole process as a free open-source plugin for Claude Code and Codex, with reviewer personas like /hitchcock (does the reader lean in?) and /sorkin (does it move?). Compound Writing, the ultimate guide:show more

Aware is (basically) a browser we're building to explore... personal computing and generative, malleable software. it keeps a footprint of the materials (pages, files) as a graph in a relational database stored locally. Been writing my paper in my own latex editor inside Aware. It's very satisfying when software fixes itself and fetches its own context and attach them to the right parts. The editor is an experiment of "interface as a skill": the editor's code and its skill live in the paper's repo, so the same agent that knows my code and data also lives in the editor. So i get: 1. an interface i can reprogram any part anytime (aesthetics i like, and the scratch pad i always wanted) 2. an agent living in the editor, with the whole project as context (a figure links to the dashboard, built from the real analysis code that made it) (though i have to admit, some of my focused writing time now goes to wanting to tweak the editor instead)show more

This scene captures Reed Richards more accurately than any... adaptation so far. He uses his powers to take someone’s luggage space instead of finding another spot, because to him it is simply the most efficient choice. In the comics, he is often so focused on efficiency that he ignores how it affects others.show more

Relocating quickly to make yourself a threat is one... of the most underappreciated skills. The longer it takes you to relocate the longer it is before you are a threat. That is an advantage for the defense.show more

clipping agencies rent offices now, $500,000 a year ten... editors, a manager, a lease, and the only thing any of them is paid for is noticing noticing is 310 lines of python, and i gave it away it runs on Robinhood Chain, so the clip pays whoever cut it CUT never sees a single frame of the stream. it reads chat, because chat knows before the editor does, before the dashboard does, before the streamer does [what those 310 lines do] 1. measure the last 10 seconds against that stream's own 5 minute baseline 2. never a global number, a big channel idling still beats a small one peaking 3. count how many people just typed clip it 4. call the clip api in the same second, not after the room reacts that last one is the whole thing. a twitch clip only keeps the 90 seconds before you hit the button, so if you noticed the moment yourself, you already lost it no key to read chat. it cannot post for you. it runs on your machine, not mine one command replays three minutes of recorded chat offline and fires a real moment on your screen, so you can watch it work before you trust itshow more

It can build 3D models I built 5 different experiences using MiniMax and recorded them for you:show more

Jamie Foxx's character in Collateral was originally going to... be played by Adam Sandler, as a 'Woody Allen kind of cab driver in New York' in 'one of those funny screenplays.' But when Michael Mann came aboard, he took the project in a totally different direction. He explains why: "Nothing’s wrong with Adam Sandler, but...the Jamie Foxx character was a badly-written Jewish cab driver, with the kind of stereotypes that can only come from someone writing that kind of a character who’s foreign, who’s not American, that doesn’t live in New York.” (The script was written by Stuart Beattie, an Australian) …I didn’t like the screenplay, I didn’t like the dialogue, I didn’t like (the) writing, but if you took the screenplay, and put it under an MRI, or an X-ray machine, and took a look at it, you realize this thing has beautiful, beautiful bones. It’s one of the most beautifully constructed stories I’d had ever run into. And it was gemlike, and it all took place in one night, and the roles each guy played in the other’s realization of himself, and it was just a beautiful piece of writing by Beattie. But I loved the story structure of it, so I rewrote it."show more
