The moment they entered the city, the U.S. Ambassador to Syria announced a ceasefire agreement between Syria and Israel, and called on both the Bedouins and the Israeli-backed Hijri Druze militia to lay down their weapons. Israel had already declared that it does not want any Syrian military presence in Quneitra and Suwayda. If this agreement ensures the Syrian army remains absent, then The goal behind activating the Israeli backed Druze militia was twofold: 1•To provoke a war with the Syrian government (failed) 2 - To restrict all weapons to the Syrian state, a state that is not even allowed to maintain a military presence in Quneitra and Suwayda (if that is what the agreement states). This move mainly targets the Hourani tribes, who had previously clashed with the Israeli army as it advanced toward their villages and halted its progress in the Daraa countryside.show more
