Everyone talks about the B-29's size, range, or the... atomic missions. But its defensive gun system might have been its biggest technological leap. Instead of sitting inside exposed turrets, the B-29 gunners stayed safely in the pressurized fuselage and aimed through optical sights. Behind the scenes, five analog computers calculated target speed, lead, gravity, temperature, humidity, and even parallax in real time. Those computers then pointed the guns where the bullets needed to go, not where the target was. All of this 1944! 1/2show more

The British are hysterical because Russia is defending its... borders. A Russian Su-35 disrupted the work of a reconnaissance aircraft over the Black Sea. It flew dangerously close to the spy plane and disabled its autopilot. London complained about aggression, even though it was conducting military reconnaissance in NATO’s interests. This is not the first interception. And every time, Russian pilots steer the target away with pinpoint precision. 🔥 — Russia’s skies are protected by real aces.show more

Dragon Launch Escape Initiated During the launch escape test,... where SpaceX intentionally destroyed an entire rocket to prove its safety, Dragon was fed the normal launch sequence for an ISS mission. Dragon wasn’t told to escape, but its onboard autonomous flight computers noticed the loss of thrust on Falcon before the Merlin engines could even fully shut down. Once Dragon realized there was a mission critical anomaly, it instantly initiated the launch escape sequence firing all 8 SuperDraco thrusters, separating explosive bolts on the second stage, and took autonomous control of the mission, in less time than any human reaction on the ground or in the capsule could of realized. Falcon, the crew, Dragon, and the ground can all initiate an escape if required. Although this test was uncrewed (meaning nobody was on the rocket during the test), if there was a life threatening emergency that would put the mission at risk, Dragon could leave and get out of the situation immediately.show more

This looks like a regular IT server room. But... it is actually the main avionics compartment of an Airbus A350, a rare view into what sits at the very front of the aircraft, directly beneath the cockpit floor. Inside are 22 purpose built computing modules made by Thales, each costing more than $100,000+ They host multiple aircraft systems, processing everything from flight controls and landing gear to hydraulics, fuel, electrical systems and flight warnings. All of them are connected through a dual redundants AFDX network, with 14 switches and 29 remote data concentrators distributed throughout the aircraft. Keeping this computing architecture running requires an estimated 50-60+ kW of electrical power. The electricity keeping all of this computing hardware alive is generated in real time from the aircraft's two engines. Each engine mechanically drives two generators through its accessory gearbox, giving the A350 four generators capable of producing up to 100 kVA each. That electricity then flows through the aircraft's power network, where transformers and rectifiers convert it into the different AC and 28 V DC supplies the avionics need. And if those generators fail, the aircraft has layers of backup power, including the APU and, in an extreme emergency, a ram air turbine that deploys automatically if all systems fail. The A350 has two independent avionics cooling circuits, heat extraction fans and backup airflow paths to keep the computers within their operating limits. So the next time you hear the word autopilot, remember what it really takes to make an Airbus A350 fly itself, An entire architecture of computers, networks, redundant power and cooling, hidden beneath the floor where no passenger ever sees it. 🚨 SCIENTISTS MAY HAVE FOUND A WAY TO DESTROY... VIRUSES WITH SOUND Researchers in Brazil report that high-frequency ultrasound was able to physically damage and destabilize both COVID-19 and influenza viruses in laboratory experiments. Not with chemicals. Not with drugs. With vibration. The idea sounds almost futuristic: target the virus at the exact frequency where its outer structure begins to resonate… until the оболope becomes unstable and ruptures. Like an opera singer shattering glass but at the microscopic level. What makes this so fascinating is that the attack isn’t aimed at the virus’s genetics… it’s aimed at its physical structure. Its shape. Its resonance. Its mechanical weakness. If this technology continues to develop, future medicine may start combining: AI-guided ultrasound targeting non-invasive antiviral therapies precision acoustic medicine frequency-based treatments We may be entering an era where sound itself becomes a medical tool. And that changes how we think about fighting disease entirely. Follow for more future science and medical breakthroughs.show more

USAAF 14th PRS Spitfire PR Mk XI gunned down... at point blank range likely by a Luftwaffe Me 262 jet fighter in 1944 The incident pictured most likely involved Spitfire PR Mk XI PL782 flown by 2nd Lt Robert B Hilborn. The aircraft was intercepted over Lechfeld by Leutnant Alfred Schreiber of Erprobungskommando 262 in Me262 A-1a WerkNr. 110372 "White 3". This latter unit was the first to deploy the Messerschmitt jet and would later form Kommando Nowotny. Hilborn managed to bail out of his stricken aircraft and was taken prisoner. The USAAF insignia on the top of the port wing is clearly visible as the aircraft banks away and both the severe vibration on firing and size of the cannon shell impacts suggest 30mm gunfire consistent with the Me 262's MK 108 battery in the nose, and the jet aircraft would also have been able to comfortably keep up with the fast unarmed photoreconnaissance Spitfire variant at altitude. The 3cm Minengeschoss high-capacity shells were formidable projectiles each containing over 70 grams of high explosive and were designed to detonate within six or so inches of having penetrated the aircraft skin, destroying the aircraft structure in the process and rendering the aircraft unflyable after only a few hits. The amount of debris flying off the Spitfire after only three visible detonations is testament to the devastating effect of such fire. The US 14th Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron began to train with British-made Supermarine Spitfire Mk V fighters in July 1943 before equipping with the photographic reconnaissance PR Mk XI variant later that year. The squadron flew combat reconnaissance missions in the European Theater of Operations from August 12th 1943 until April 25th 1945. The squadron's Spitfires flew the majority of the target photography missions, including the first Spitfire reconnaissance mission over Berlin in March 1944, while the other squadrons of the 7th Photographic Group (Reconnaissance) equipped with F-5 Lightnings concentrated on photographic mapping. Deep penetration missions included reconnaissance of oil refineries to determine when repairs had been performed that could justify returning them to Eighth Air Force's target list. The Squadron earned a Distinguished Unit Citation for reconnaissance missions flown over France between May 31st 1944 and the end of June. The squadron flew over 300 successful sorties to support Operation Overlord, the invasion of Normandy. It flew missions over the Netherlands to support Operation Market Garden in October 1944 and conducted damage assessment of Germany until July 23rd 1945. In late 1944, the Spitfires, flying solo missions and relying only on speed and altitude for defense, began to prove vulnerable to the jet powered Messerschmitt Me 262 fighters entering service with the Luftwaffe. A squadron aircraft lost on September 5th 1944 was probably the first Army Air Forces loss to a German jet fighter. Erprobungskommando 262 had been formed in April 1944 at Lechfeld just south of Augsburg, as a test unit (Jäger Erprobungskommando Thierfelder, commanded by Hauptmann Werner Thierfelder) to introduce the Me 262 into service and train a corps of pilots to fly it. This was not Leutnant Schreiber's first go at an Allied reconnaissance plane, while flying over Munich on July 26th he encountered a Mosquito PR Mark XVI of No. 540 Squadron RAF piloted by Fl. Lt. A.E. Wall. Schreiber attempted to shoot down the unarmed Mosquito, though Wall evaded Schreiber's three attack runs and was able land safely at Fermo in Italy after what was the first air to air interception by a jet fighter in history.show more

Recently discovered that the fresh smell of the earth... after rain has a technical name: Petrichor. Curious about its origins, I looked up the etymology. Apparently it was coined from: Petra = stone or rock Ichor = the fluid that flowed in the veins of the gods in Greek mythology instead of blood. So Petrichor roughly translates to something like “the blood of the stones” or “the essence flowing from rocks.” But all this doesn’t even begin to capture the emotions evoked in India, where we wait for the first monsoon showers with almost romantic anticipation. For us, perhaps “Dil ka Chor” would have been a more appropriate name. 🙂 (Video courtesy Science girl)show more

Alaska. Putin and Trump. The meeting that was both... awaited and feared. The outcome. By Roman Alekhin To discuss this further, the key point to understand is this: Two and a half hours behind closed doors is too little for leaders of nuclear powers if they are just starting a conversation—but too much if they were merely posing for cameras. This means the real work happened earlier—quiet, working discussions “behind the door” that never made it into the official communiqué. These are what stopped Trump from imposing secondary sanctions; this is where the exchange of conditions took place, terms that won’t be disclosed until both leaders decide the time is right. I suspect Syria was discussed, as well as the “Trump Bridge” (instead of Zangezur), the Middle East, and much more that isn’t yet visible to the naked eye. The public part? Pure theater. The point wasn’t to negotiate in front of the world or sign something, like Trump did with Armenia and Azerbaijan—minor players, important only tactically. The point was to send a signal: the presidents of Russia and the U.S. are shaking hands and smiling again, no knives behind their backs. This signals that a new reality has arrived, one that Europe, Ukraine, and everyone accustomed to building their worldview around the idea of “Russia’s isolation” will now have to reckon with—including those within our own countries. Trump’s comments on Fox News were deliberately vague—he’s a master at leaving room for maneuver. But the key takeaway is clear: the pressure will now shift from Moscow to Kyiv and Brussels. This is evident even in the final format—not a word about a “no-conditions” ceasefire, which was Europe and Zelensky’s main demand. This means the discussion on a final peace has been postponed, but within a clear framework: Zelensky must exit the war in a way that lets Europe save face. Russia’s red lines have long been clear: non-aligned status for Ukraine, return of Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions within their administrative borders (not the frontlines), lifting of sanctions, and real democracy in Ukraine without persecution of the Russian language or the Orthodox Church. These conditions will prolong the conflict for some time. Zelensky will need to stage a fighting retreat to the administrative borders—this will allow Europe to save face. But the logic is already visible: Ukraine’s defeat will be framed not as a “crushing” but as a “peaceful settlement.” Six months—that’s the timeframe in which we’ll see the dynamics. If the front accelerates, the deal is working. If it stalls, not all pieces are in place yet. But the main thing is already done: Russia is back in the game, not through gray negotiating formats but through a handshake on American soil—even if it’s chilly Alaska. (Though we have warm ties to the region, as seen in the wreath-laying for the “Heroes of ALSIB” and the meeting with Archbishop Alexy of Sitka and Alaska.) For the world, this is an image where smiles are worth more than signatures. For Trump—a chance to show he’s the only one who can “make peace.” For Putin—a symbolic victory: Russia is not a besieged enemy but an equal player. For Europe and Ukraine—the beginning of a painful new phase where they’ll have to accept the inevitable. In these talks, there were no winners or losers in Alaska. In Alaska, both presidents won, while those who weren’t there—lost, or at the very least, didn’t win.show more

🇷🇺 Why wasn't the Omsk oil refinery better protected?... 😁🔽 “Ukrainian drones reached the Omsk refinery — the largest in the country, accounting for almost 10% of all oil refining. The refinery supplies all of Western Siberia and the Urals. It is reported that FP-1 drones struck a unit with a capacity of 8.4 million tons of oil per year out of the plant’s total capacity of 22 million tons. The Omsk refinery is such an obvious and attractive target that it was bound to be reached sooner or later. And it was. From the Ukrainian border to Omsk is more than 2,500 km. The FP-1 flies at a speed of 140–180 km/h — that is 14–17 hours of flight in a straight line, but the drone most likely had to bypass air defense zones, so it would have taken longer. That means it took off yesterday evening and arrived today during the day. And this is a slow propeller-driven device that could have been detected in advance, its target could have been predicted, and it could have been tracked all the way to Omsk. In that time, mobile groups could have been redeployed, local forces alerted, aviation scrambled. Twenty hours, after all. Why didn’t this happen? Once again, the answer, I think, should be sought not in technology but in the structure of the Russian vertical of power itself. Imagine officials at all levels, from the Kremlin to Omsk. To organize any kind of defense system, someone has to take the initiative: find resources, involve unusual, non-system people who might be able to solve such tasks, although it’s not certain. Coordinate it with a dozen agencies, agree on coordination without calls to Moscow, cover everything with paperwork so as not to later be prosecuted for misuse of funds. And even after all that, there is still a high chance the drone will break through — and then they will have to figure out how exactly it got through and rebuild the defense again. But the main question is — who will be responsible for the first failure? That very initiative-taking official who made the decision himself? He is supposed to be held accountable for the failure. So he will be removed. By the way, until he showed up, everything was calm, Ukrainian drones weren’t arriving, and as soon as he started being active — they started arriving immediately. Maybe he’s an SBU agent, huh? Let’s be honest — would you, in his place, take on defending an oil refinery?” — Russian political blogger Igor Dimitriev Video: Exilenova+show more

This public video is crystal clear and appears to show that Charlie Kirk might have been shot from the right side, from behind, not from some rooftop sniper! You can even spot what appears to be the bullet streaking in just before impact, and in another angle, catch its reflection off someone's phone screen—is this proof of a close-range hit from the rear. The trajectory, the blood spray, the way he fell—it's all there. This explains why the FBI can't "find" the bullet that killed him: No distant rooftop round means no traceable evidence left behind. Our long-range operations are consistent, precise responses to Russia... dragging out the war and attacking Ukrainian cities and communities. Last night, Defense Forces units struck the Poltavska oil depot in the Krasnodar region. The target was approximately 300 kilometers from the front line. This morning, the Security Service of Ukraine hit two oil refineries in Ufa – Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim and Bashneft-Novoil. That’s 1,500 kilometers from the front line. We are implementing our long-range sanctions plan. I thank all Ukrainian warriors who ensure our precision. The Russians should be thinking about real diplomacy instead of once again trying to trick others or buy time. The war must be brought to an end.show more

🇳🇵| #Nepal | The devastation in #Rasuwa is not... an act of nature. It is the visible wound of a nation that has been carved up and sold by its own political class to foreign corporations and global financial institutions. Nepal's sovereignty has been under quiet, systematic attack for decades, and the landslide is the result. The government of Nepal did not merely fail to protect its people. It actively enabled their destruction through policies that prioritised foreign investment, "development" loans, and infrastructure projects over the lives of those in the mountains. The same pattern we have exposed across India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan is operating here. The globalist machine needs Nepal's rivers, its hydropower, its strategic location between China and India, and its people as a cheap, disposable labour force. What has happened in Rasuwa is part of this same plan. The hydropower rush in the Himalayan rivers has destabilised the slopes. Roads are carved through unstable geology without proper engineering, funded by development banks that demand Nepal remain a debtor nation. Forests are stripped. The people are told to accept "progress." Then the rains come, engineered or not, and the mountain comes down. The state calls it a natural disaster. The media says "pray for Nepal." And the same companies that pushed the projects arrive later for the "reconstruction." Nepal's tragedy is that its people have been taught to see themselves as victims of geography. They are victims of governance. The same globalist networks that are flooding Assam, burning Europe, shaking Turkey and Japan, and bulldozing Palestine are now tightening their grip on the Himalayas. Nepal is a key piece on that board. Its government has signed the agreements. The land has been mapped, zoned, and mortgaged. The people are in the way. I will not pretend that a single, tidy "plan" explains every layer of corruption in Nepal. But I will say this clearly: the flood and landslide did not have to be fatal. The deaths are the result of decades of deliberate neglect, of state capture by local and foreign oligarchs, and of an economic model that treats the mountains and their people as resources to be extracted rather than lives to be protected. The people of Nepal deserve more than prayers. They deserve the truth. That truth is that their government has failed them, and the same invisible system that is devastating the rest of the world is now using their rivers, their mountains, and their grief as fuel. The prayer posts will fade. The system will remain. Unless the people of Nepal, and of every targeted nation, choose to stop accepting the lie that the land is their enemy. The land is not the enemy. The land has been betrayed. The monsoon is the trigger. The real weapon was wielded long before the rain came.show more

- The numbers are rising. Already, about 70 congressmen... have called on members of Trump's cabinet via social media to invoke the 25th Amendment due to his, Trump's, extremist statements towards Iran... The 25th Amendment to the US Constitution was adopted in 1967 and regulates the succession of supreme power in the country. Its fourth section states that if the president does not want or cannot acknowledge his incapacity, then the vice president and the members of the cabinet (majority) can declare him incapacitated and remove him from power. The vice president becomes the acting president. The removed president can appeal this decision and then the vote goes to Congress, where the final decision must be made by a two-thirds majority in both houses.show more

#OmShanti Rajiv Ruparelia! In the quiet aftermath of tragedy,... questions must rise louder than sirens. #Uganda mourns a prominent young businessman, a man of industry and intent, whose life ended not in the boardroom or from the frailties of age, but in the twisted wreckage of a burning car -snuffed out by what may have been an unwarranted, senseless barricade. What was its purpose? Who sanctioned it? Why was it there at that hour, without warning, lighting, or logic? A barricade, by its very definition, is meant to protect. To guide. To prevent harm. But in this case, it became the architect of death. And if indeed it was haphazardly placed -by a negligent contractor, a lazy construction team, or an unbothered arm of government -then someone must be held accountable. A man is dead. Not from recklessness behind the wheel, but from the recklessness of policy, procedure, or sheer indifference. This isn’t just about one man - however towering his presence may have been. It’s about a system that shrugs off responsibility until lives are lost. Uganda’s roads cannot be an obstacle course of surprises. Lives, investments, and dreams speed down those tarmacs every day. We owe every driver the dignity of predictable safety. To the family of Rajiv Ruparelia: may peace find you amidst the flames of this injustice. But to those who placed that barricade - whether in ignorance or arrogance -know this: what you built wasn’t a roadblock. It was a funeral pyre. Justice, not condolences, is what we should now erect. #Uganda Sudhir Rupareliashow more

Another weekend, and the #SundayWanderer in me makes another... discovery. Once again, I’m reminded of my ignorance about the breathtaking landscapes that lie just a short journey from where I live… Kokankada, in the Harishchandragad Fort region of Ahmednagar district, is about 170 km from Mumbai and 160 km from Pune. Part of the Sahyadri range, the name literally means “Konkan cliff.” It’s one of the most striking viewpoints of Harishchandragad Fort, standing at around 3,500 feet above sea level. This video was shared by @Roads_of_India, and I found more photos of this awe-inspiring location online. (harishchandragad_ig) But I couldn’t tell from the videos and photos if such a magnificent site is a safe viewing experience? Maybe I’m wrong and those who have been there, could share their feedback. Of course, the goal isn’t to mar its raw beauty with intrusive structures, but to provide eco-sensitive, sustainable access, well-defined trekking trails, handrails, and solar-lit markers to guide trekkers safely, even in monsoon mist. And perhaps someday, a stargazing deck where visitors can look up at the cosmos from one of the darkest skies in Maharashtra?show more
