Mississauga has received up to 45 cm of snow.... All of our resources are currently deployed: ▪️Crews have been working around the clock to clear major roads for emergency vehicles and transit. ▪️ Overnight, equipment began moving into residential neighbourhoods to complete the first round of plowing on roads, sidewalks and to clear space in driveway windrows. This work is ongoing. ▪️ Work is also underway this morning to begin clearing bus stops. With so much snow on the ground, clean up on all surfaces will take time. Multiple rounds of plowing will be required to clear snow aside and additional work will be required in the coming days to remove snow from areas where it can’t be piled, such as bridge decks and intersections. ⚠️Reminder: A Citywide Winter Parking Restriction remains in effect until further notice. 🚨 An absolutely LUDICROUS amount of Snow is about... to fall out West as a TRAIN of Storms pushes onshore. ❌This comes as our West Coast brotheren have been dealing with RECORD low Snowpack, with many ski resorts forced to close parts of their mountains due to a lack of Snow. That is ALL about to change next week as an Atmospheric River delivers a near constant FEED of moisture into the West. ❄️ The heaviest Snow remains on track to fall in the Sierra Nevada, where 4 to 8 FEET or more could pile up early this week. 🏔️ Heavy Snow will also dump into the Rockies, including Colorado and Utah. Here, 1 Foot or more could fall over several days. 🌲 The Cascades will see PLENTY of Snow as well, with 1 to 2 FEET likely in the higher elevations. 🌧️ Lower elevations along the West Coast, including Seattle, could see a few Snow Flakes mix in, but little to no accumulation is expected. ✅This is FANTASTIC news for our mountain loving brotheren out West who have been DYING for Snow. SNOW-EFFECT SNOW?!? ❄️ As Arctic air surged south across... deep snow cover in the Central U.S., it was able to pick up moisture, similar in concept (but weaker) to classic lake-effect processes. Once that cold airmass moved over snow-free, relatively warmer ground, low-level instability increased. That promoted rising motion and cloud formation, much like when Arctic air pours off the continent and out over the ocean. 🌨️ The end result: scattered snow showers and flurries showing up on radar across parts of MS, AL, TN, and KY.show more

Another interesting angle with this Winter Storm: one of... the biggest rivalries in sports - Ohio State vs Michigan - could see snow in the second half. It won’t be a full on snow game since the heaviest snow arrives Saturday night, but there could be enough flakes to affect things late.
