Coding software is a joke compared to building hardware.... Because when a software fails, it can be fixed quickly. In hardware, one mistake can set you back for months or end you. In hardware, every decision is cash flow. Every tiny error can cost tens of 1000s of dollars. You don’t get second chances. You get lessons, paid for in time and money. But when you finally get it right… You don’t just ship a product. You build a legacy. Something people touch, use, and trust for years. That’s the beauty and the pain of building in the real world.show more

People get so emotional about DNA issues that they... refuse to think reasonably. If you, on your own volition, wake up one morning, and decide to go have a DNA paternity test of "your" children, then you must also be ready for the results that will come back to you. You must have reasonable cause to go for the test. That reasonable cause means you are not 100% sure if the kids are yours and hence need a confirmation test. The DNA centers are supposed to take you through counseling before you sign on to do the test. Don't go for a test and later come and disturb us online with the results. Nobody asked for it. The situation is different if you need to have the DNA test to help you complete some documentation for traveling etc. That one you didn't request for the test out of your own volition. So I can understand you if you are surprised when the results come. There is an Akan proverb that says "if you go searching for stuffs in the eyes of dead person, you will definitely see a ghost."show more

WIRED magazine just gave a 10/10 rating to a... piece of hardware for the first time in a decade. It is a robot vacuum. Meet Matic. You do not use an app to control it. You literally treat it like a pet. You can point at a coffee spill and say "Hey Matic, clean this." You can even tell it to "follow me" and it walks behind you. It spent 9 years in development to solve the biggest smart home problem: privacy. It has 5 cameras, but it processes everything locally on an Nvidia chip. Your data is deleted in real-time. Hardware is finally getting fun again.show more
