What was your favorite new course you played in... 2024? My choice is easy. The Old Course at St Andrews. We teed off at 5:30PM after I waited for hours praying for a spot. We finished in darkness, I couldn’t see my ball flight here on the famous 17. Nothing else like it. Met and bonded with so many other golf nomads trying to get a spot off the wait list, it’s truly unlike anything else. A course I want to play 1000 times.show more

Bryson DeChambeau’s next event after LIV Golf Andalucia is... the US Open, where he’ll attempt to win his 3rd gold medal. He spoke to Flushing It Golf at Valderrama about his preparation ahead of Shinnecock Hills and whether he feels any pressure after missing the last 2 cuts in majors: “Well, Valderrama is a ball striker's golf course. So you have to control your golf ball and hit the right shots under the gun with a lot of wind out here. It really is a great ball strikers paradise. The same as, you know, in the US Open. I think this is a great test.” Bryson shot rounds of 70, 71, 71 and 70 to finish T11 at Valderrama. Does he feel any pressure to perform after missing the cut at the Masters and the PGA Championship? “No. To be honest, missed cuts are gonna happen. I might miss all 4 of them in majors this year. That's just golf. Like, I’m playing great. I just haven't shown up when it mattered most. But I've played well out here on LIV, and I’m working on my golf swing really hard, and, I feel like it's in a really solid place. It's very close to some of my best golf ever. “Last week (in Korea) I had a great opportunity to win for the third time this year and didn't close the door. And that's just more learning, you know, if I had a little bit more knowledge of what to do in the golf swing, to get the ball to go straight in a few scenarios. I could have taken that championship down too. “So, I feel like I'm actually playing the most consistent I've ever played on LIV, which is great. And I think it's attributed to the switch to four rounds. No question.” Bryson says he’s going to head to Shinnecock early to get some extended work in and thinks it will be a huge benefit after not playing the course since the 2018 US Open. If he were to win it, he would join Tiger Woods and Hale Irwin as the only players to win 3 gold medals. It would also put him just 1 championship shy of equalling the all time US Open winners record of 4, held by Jack Nicklaus, Ben Hogan, Bobby Jones and Willie Anderson. So, as he’s a great student of golf history, does he ever think about it? “I'm very blessed to have done what I've done so far. I know this may not be a big deal... to some but I noticed it immediately. The eye contact. One thing that was instilled in me at a young age was the importance of making eye contact when someone is speaking to you. It’s a simple habit, but it says a lot. It shows respect. It shows that you’re present and paying attention. That’s why it’s something I emphasize at every clinic I run. When I’m teaching, I expect athletes to look me in the eye. Not because I’m trying to be super strict, but because learning how to communicate, listen, and show respect will take them much further than anything I can teach them about fielding a ground ball or swinging a bat. While I don’t know Coach Murphy or Jocelyn Briski, the fact that this is something she naturally does tells me a lot about her character and the program that helps shape her. The past year has seen me have a renaissance,... in the truest sense… I won’t go into details now but will at some point before long. What has brought so much happiness to my life and those around me this past year has been my falling back in love with sport. Cycling has, and always will be, my number one. Yet I’d forgotten that I simply love sport, not for results but for the sheer joy of doing it, I’d completely forgotten that the health of my mind is intrinsically connected to the health of my body. I’ve rediscovered the love I had for sport that existed before the world of professional cycling took over in the way it did. I’ve been pushing myself and trying new things this past year, indifferent to the results, just out having fun and at times going deeper than I thought I was capable of anymore. Last week I got on a TT bike for the first time in a decade, Factor Bikes built me a bike, I’ve been looking at it for two years and decided it was time to get fitted, getting back on it felt like going home. Anyway, the long and the short of this is that it’s inspired me to create a club to inspire and be inspired. A community for us to share our love for getting out there and doing it, because I’ve realized that although I spend most of my sporting life on my own I derive the most pleasure when feeling part of something. It’s in its early days, I’ve called it Sporting Club CHPT3 aka SCC3, I’d love you to check it out and join. It’s still in its infancy, but I hope it’s going to grow into something that will inspire you as much as me.show more

What’s your attitude when you get a windy day... on the course? One of the best things about playing links golf is you get used to the wind. You go from fearing it to craving it. (When the course is made for wind.) We had a super windy day at Kennemer in Holland. Had 180 yards straight into the breeze on 9, went with a dead hand 7 wood and struck gold. A great shot is always satisfying. But the more variables you take on, the more satisfying it is. Learning to treat wind as an opportunity to really play golf completely changes your enjoyment level.show more

Enjoy this journey while you can. There will be... a day when you don’t have anyone to throw with or lift with or play pickup racquetball and then hit the sauna after with. There will be a day when you can’t immediately roll from your workout into breakfast/lunch/dinner with 8 of your best friends. There will be a day when disputes cannot be settled with a game of madden, 2K or the show. You will realize that showing up late for work pales in comparison to the fear you had about showing up late to the field or the weight room. You can say that you’ll still train hard, keep yourself in shape, hold YOURSELF accountable. It’s easy to say when you have a goal you’re working towards with a collective group. But when you don’t have that, damn it gets hard. So enjoy it. Take advantage of the time and the energy. For some guys it happens after 6 years of pro ball. For others it happens after 4 years of college. But it will leave you. Let me repeat that: IT WILL LEAVE YOU AND IT SUCKS WHEN IT DOES.show more

Why it’s a good idea to play golf with... me- or hang out with me. I have been present or have hung out with people who have had 9 hole in one’s. Today I spent the day at Mt Lake. My host gets a hole-in-one on the very last day the course is open. The course goes under restoration tomorrow!!! Last week it was an albatross on the MacKenzie Course at 21 Golf Club. Even saw one at Augusta National. I am a lucky charm!show more

Is it weird that one of my favourite things... about cruising is… WAVING?! They don’t promote that in the adverts! 😂👋 I can’t explain it but it fills me with lots of joy. I love it when people wave at me and I wave back, like here. 😅🌟 I’ll often spot somebody and do everything I can to get them to wave back at me. When they do I feel like I’ve won a game nobody knew we were playing. 🏆🥇 It’s pretty common for everybody to wave when a cruise ship sails away from a place. I love it even more if it’s a ship sailing past a ship, then you have hundreds and thousands of potential wavers!! 🤣👋🏼 Anybody else love it as much as me? It amuses me so much, maybe my waving friend and I don’t even speak the same language but it doesn’t matter, waving is universal. 😅👍🏼show more
