An unarmed Black man, in Milwaukee, was shot in the head three times after being tased and restrained by five officers. Meanwhile, just 80 miles away, a white man was actively on top of a police officer, assaulting him… and was taken into custody without being shot. We have seen this same disparity play out over and over again. And we will continue to see this happen because… American policing is deeply rooted in systems created to control and hunt down Black populations... and ICE was created from a system rooted in racial exclusion, and the criminalization of immigrants. And we see the consequences of that history every single day. The problem is not just a few bad officers/agents, or a lack of training. The problem is not just that the wrong person was hired… These systems were built on racism. They were built to use state violence against certain people. You cannot reform a system whose foundation is rotten. You cannot train racism out of a system created by racism. You cannot reform your way out of a structure that is operating how it was designed to operate. At some point, we have to stop asking how to make these systems work better… And we have to start asking why we keep defending systems that were never designed to protect people in the first place.show more

I was working through Steam Early Access requirements for... VRUnderground and I had a really spooky realization. The whole conversation around training images and videos is not the important part. The media itself is just a bridge. What is actually being extracted is cognitive patterning. Models learn how people think, not just how they draw. The images are only the residue of the process. The real map is of the minds that created them. It reminds me of poker. A great poker player is not "stealing your cards". They are reading the patterns in your behavior and mapping your decision space. In that sense, training AI on human-created data is not about automating tasks. It is about mapping cognition through metadata and behavior trails. If that is true, then the internet starts looking a lot more like a poker table. Distressing content that breaks my heart! BULLYING! 😡😡 Being... a kid that was bullied at home by a parent, at junior school and down the park which was basically my whole life for a time, I feel I can speak on this subject. This is temporary, I always knew it was and I hope all that are going through this know this. I was lucky as I got to 6ft 1 at 12, my dad had left when I was 11 so that was over and suddenly I grew my wings and fought the older bullies back. I only extracted revenge on the few horrible ones who hurt all of us younger lot which was their way of simply masking their own weakness but it was glorious.❤️ I hope all kids and adults being bullied experience that euphoric moment when it’s over, it makes sure you never bully anyone yourself going forward.
