I havent seen anyone post about it but one... thing that stood out to me the most from the MW4 briefing is how sick the Tactical Nuke animation is. Tactical Nuke is back but the animation is completely different. You call it in a small phone and then a buckle into a skyhook a plane grabs right before the nuke drops and you look back at the map getting nuked. You also flip the map off as you fly away Its one of the sickest things I saw. The video below is an example from MW3 of what i mean.show more

Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of jelly-like UI... components, so I decided to make my own in #glsl, running on WebGL! I adapted the volumetric raymarching technique I use in my shaders and built a custom SDF for an iridescent keycap-style button that works as either a slider or a simple push button. The jelly feel comes from elastic easing functions that drive the SDF deformation. The scale, rotation, background, and color palette are all fully configurable.show more

By controlling how heat moves at the atomic level, researchers are opening a path to more efficient energy recovery systems without relying on scarce resources. For all those who doubt me, here is a... video demonstration of this: This is a 0.223 caliber 5.56 NATO bullet shot from an AR-15-style rifle with a muzzle energy of 1300 ft-lb (1763 J). The substance it is being shot into is a ballistics gel specifically engineered to replicate human tissue. As you can see in the video when the bullet stops, the kinetic energy is transferred to the surrounding area, creating that puff effect you see from Charlie’s shirt.
