Ukrainian UAVs once again attacked the Ust-Luga and Prymorsk... Ports in Leningrad Oblast, resulting in large fires breaking out at both locations. These are the two largest Russian Baltic Sea ports. It appears that these drones once again utilised Polish, Lithuanian, Latvian, and possibly Estonian airspace to reach the ports, with drones just "magically" appearing in the region near the Latvian border, even though no alerts were issued in regions which the drones would usually have to fly through. This is the third day in a row that Russia's Baltic Sea Ports have come under attack, and the third day in a row that Ukrainian drones likely used NATO airspace to avoid Russian air defence.show more

During his interview with CNBC, Elon confirmed that there would be fully autonomous Teslas on the streets of Austin by the end of June. I predicted that Tesla would not have non-geofenced, unsupervised Full Self-Driving Teslas in Austin by July 1. Today is July 1, and Elon's predictions were completely wrong. By his own definition of intelligence, he is not that smart. I have always been better at predicting things about Tesla Full Self-Driving than Elon Musk is. That's why No Safe Words crowned me the "world's leading autonomous vehicle safety expert". As I predicted, Tesla's "Robotaxi" is geofenced to a small area in Austin. It is not autonomous, and is supervised both remotely and from the passenger seat. The only passengers it has carried so far are Tesla Cultists and shareholders. Tesla has not launched a real robotaxi service like the one Waymo operates. The 11 supervised robotaxis it has deployed made at least 17 safety critical and driving errors in just the first week of operation. Elon predicted in October 2024 that Tesla would have a 30% growth in sales in 2025. Tesla's sales fell 13% in Q1 2025 and tomorrow's delivery numbers are expected to be similarly terrible. I predict that Tesla's sales growth in 2025 will be less than 30%. Elon also predicted every year for the past 11 years that Tesla would solve autonomous driving by the end of the year. His predictions have been wrong every single year for over a decade. I predict that Tesla will not solve autonomous driving this year. No great size or mobility gifts… but what he did have- was the heart of a Lion. And that determination and discipline led to some great gains in his first year at PVS. He had a goal of 90 mph on the mound at PBR in Feb of 2023. He came up short in a memorable display of determination : 88 mph @PBRPennsylvania He dusted himself off and put his efforts into pitch design and command. He became one of the WPIAL’s best pitchers in the toughest baseball section. After that- he went to the Youngstown Class B summer league and pitched well there and committed to UPJ. After his commitment - we sat down and devised a plan. A plan most kids don’t have the patience to execute. It was rooted in Alan Jaeger Jaeger Sports principles of Weening off volume and building two weeks for every down week. We are talking 5 months folks. Throw by throw execution for five months. Five months. Along the way- we built him up using several Randy Sullivan MPT, CSCS concepts as well as tried and tested in house methods. Today was his first “Go day”. And he hit that 90. His boys were as pumped for him as they would have been for themselves. Our plan has just begun - More lay ahead. June 4th, 1994 our lives forever changed. We said,... “I do!”. With those two words, we said, yes, to all the highs, the lows, and everything in between. God has blessed us with four absolutely amazing children who are now amazing adults, with their own best friends/significant others (that they’re doing life with), we have three incredible grandsons, and a beautiful granddaughter on the way. We’ve lived where we both grew up (on the East Coast), and have now been out here in San Diego for just over 11 years. We’ve gotten jobs (and lost jobs), we’ve had more times than we can count where we couldn’t make ends meet, even though both you and I were working two, and sometimes three jobs at a time, and we’ve been blessed in ways that we could’ve never dreamed of. We’ve watched both my parents pass on, and are now dealing with the overwhelmingly difficult challenge of seeing your parents struggle with their own health in ways that no one should have to go through. Through it all (even in the midst of the chaos), we’ve been blessed to be by each other‘s sides! I thank God for you every day, Jillian! I love our adventures together (the big ones where we fly to somewhere we’ve never been before, and the little ones where we hop in the car with no agenda, and just drive). I love when we find ourselves in deeper conversation, laughter, and tears of joy then ever expected, and in the moments of silence, where no words are even spoken, but when we’re together, just being where our feet are. Avg SI velo (2024) 📈 • w/ PIT: 93.0 mph • w/ BOS: 93.8 mph NOTE: Remove his first two appearances where there wasn’t really any changes made, and his avg SI velo now sits at 94.2 mph. Games where SI sat 94+ mph 📈 • w/ PIT: 2 (of 23) • w/ BOS: 5 (of 10) He’s comfortably hit 96 and topped 97 mph for Worcester (seen in video attached), and has been grinding on a velo program this winter as well. Other top velos, just for fun… • FF: 96.3 mph* • SL: 92.3 mph • CU: 83.5 mph* • CH: 92 mph* • FC: 94.4 mph* *indicates top velo was w/ BOS — On top of this, we all know that Bres/Bailey & Co. love their whiff and secondary offerings. Priester took a huge step forward last year in both of these categories. When the body of SOG jawan Amjad Khan reached... home, the room fell silent — until his 1-year-old daughter cried out, “Papa, Papa.” In Jammu and Kashmir, a Special Operations Group (SOG) jawan, Amjad Pathan, was martyred in a fierce gunfight in Sohan village, Majalta tehsil, Udhampur district last evening. Security forces had launched a search operation after receiving intel about three terrorists, believed to be linked to the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit. Two other SOG personnel were injured in the exchange of fire. While the initial gunfight has been contained, the area remains under a tight security cordon with all escape routes sealed. The Nagrota-based White Knight Corps shared updates on social media, and IGP Jammu, Bhim Sen Tuti, highlighted that a very small SOG team bravely engaged the terrorists. Forest combing was challenging due to darkness and difficult terrain. One terrorist is believed to have been injured in the initial encounter. The operation was suspended overnight and resumed at first light, with reinforcements rushed in to strengthen the cordon and neutralize the holed-up terrorists.show more

The inauguration of Noida’s Jewar International Airport today comes... with a rather bizarre backstory, one that neatly reflects Akhilesh Yadav’s understanding of priorities. As UP’s CM between 2012 and 2017, he strongly opposed the airport’s location in Noida, perhaps because he did not want to go to Noida due to the old superstition that any CM visiting Noida loses power (a myth later broken by Yogi Adityanath), or perhaps because a world-class airport in Saifai would make life easier for his visiting Bollywood guests of the now-defunct Saifai Mahotsav, or maybe a bit of both. In 2015, he even wrote to PM Modi opposing the project, proposing Saifai or Agra instead. By 2016, his govt had formally declared Saifai as the only “feasible” site for an international airport. Imagine an international airport of the scale of Noida at Safai. What would have been the point of that? Fortunately, his proposal was rejected by the Centre. And then, with the efforts of the double-engine govt, the airport saw the light of day in record time.show more

Was very impressed on Friday by East Carolina RHP... Trey Yesavage, who allowed just 1 ER and struck out 11 across 6 IP. FB sat 93-96, topped out at 97. Jumped out of the hand from his near over-the-top slot. Plenty of carry through the zone, shape of the pitch is outstanding. Control and command of it were both impressive, threw it for strikes 73% of the time. 55, borderline 60 pitch. Mixed in two distinct breaking balls with a high-70s CB and mid-80s SL. It's clear on Friday he didn't have the best feel for his CB. Threw a couple good ones that flashed plenty of depth, but it lacked its usual sharp, downward bite. Will typically flash plus. Gyro SL was a lot better. Threw it with conviction, confidence in the pitch was there. Flashed late teeth with some depth, generated 7 whiffs. Would give it a 55. I was most impressed with his SPL-CH. Got nice separation off his heater with a 10+ MPH difference. Threw it to both LHH and RHH. Flashed ultra-late tumbling life; seemingly fell off a table ~1-2 feet in front of the plate. Kills spin really well. Maintained arm speed. Looked like a plus pitch. Yesavage this year has a 1.80 ERA with 19 Ks to just 3 BB across 10 IP. He is one of the premier college arms in this year's draft class and has first round upside. (📽️: ACC Network)show more

One the lesser known cases of Christian persecution is... the crucifixion of 26 Christians in Japan in 1597. Worried about the growing popularity of this foreign religion, the Japanese authorities started a campaign of persecution against both foreign missionaries and Japanese converts. Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Japan's ruler at the time, saw Christianity as a threat to his authority and the stability of Japan, fearing that the Christian converts would only have allegiance to the Pope and the Church in Rome. The anti-Christian campaign started after the Spanish galleon San Felipe, heading from the Philippines to Mexico, was shipwrecked in Japan in 1596. The local ruler decided to loot the galleon and then told the Hideyoshi that he had been informed by the crew that Spain had a practice of using missionary work as a prelude to conquest. He claimed to have been shown a map and have been told that this was how South America and the Philippines had been conquered by Spain. The executions in 1597 were followed by a more systematic policy of persecution under the Tokugawa shogunate, which aimed to eradicate Christianity entirely. The anti-Christian campaign largely managed to stem to growth of Christianity in Japan with freedom of religion being introduced first in 1871 during the Meiji Restoration. Today around 1% of the Japanese population is Christian. However, they have been overrepresented in politics for the past 100 years, with 9 Japanese Prime Ministers having been Christian: 3 Catholics and 6 Protestants (including the current PM Shigeru Ishiba).show more

This was filmed yesterday at Second Chance Animal Shelter.... The veteran is David. The dog is Scout, a four-year-old Border Collie. Eleven months ago, David lost his housing and had to surrender Scout. It destroyed him. Last month, David got into a transitional housing program specifically for veterans. First thing he did? Started searching. He called, visited, and emailed 52 different shelters across three counties. Found Scout listed online two days ago at Second Chance. When David walked in yesterday with his case worker, Scout froze. Completely still. For a full ten seconds. Like his brain couldn't process that David was real. Then Scout started spinning. Frantic circles. Crying. High-pitched whines. Then he launched himself at David. Wrapped his paws around David's neck and wouldn't let go. Both of them collapsed. Scout was shaking so hard. David was sobbing. Staff gave them thirty minutes alone in the room. Scout never stopped shaking. Never unwrapped from David's neck. David told us: "| promised him I'd come back. I promised." Sometimes eleven months feels like forever. But a promise kept is worth the wait.show more

The vet had been honest with the Hollands. Baxter... didn't have much time left, and the kindest thing they could do now was make whatever he had left count. So on a warm Saturday in June , instead of a normal quiet day at home, they loaded the old Bernese into the back of the van and drove him two hours to the coast. Baxter had never seen the ocean. He was 13, and his whole life had been the backyard and the same worn spot on the living room rug. The kids wanted him to see something big before he went. He moved slow getting out of the van. His back legs weren't what they used to be, and the boys had to help him down onto the sand. For a second he just stood there at the top of the beach, nose up, taking in all that salt air and open water like he couldn't quite believe it. Then something in him shifted. He started down toward the surf on his own, stiff and determined, the way he used to trot to the door when the kids came home from school. When the first cold wave washed over his paws, his whole face lit up. He didn't run, he couldn't, but he waded in up to his chest and stood in the shallow water with the sun going down behind him, and the whole family just watched. Nobody said much. They didn't need to. They stayed until the light was almost gone, taking pictures, letting Baxter rest against their legs, giving him one perfect afternoon to hold onto. The vet was right about the time. Baxter left them a few weeks later, at home, surrounded by the people who loved him. But he saw the ocean first. And every one of them is glad they gave him that.show more
