SHOT reports that a small but visible trend in... Russia, some young men leaving office jobs and trying their hand at farming. According to the outlet, it's becoming fashionable, in some circles, to leave cities for rural areas, raising livestock such as cows, sheep, goats, and chickens. Regions like Dagestan, Astrakhan, Chuvashia, and Stavropol are cited as hotspots. The appeal, they say, is a quieter life and closer contact with nature. The examples here are telling, but also a bit selective.show more

Some idiot has painted a cross on one of... the hedgehogs, presumably so they can identify it, for some reason. If you want to identify hedgehogs, do it the proper way: pay attention to their size, shape and albedo. It's not hard if you're not lazy. Painting them is a bad thing. Don't handle hedgehogs (or *any* other wild animals) unless you need to and don't paint a target on them to mark them out by sight or smell to predators. It's stressful for them, the paint might be toxic and it can make it hard for them to curl up when they sense a threat. Just don't fuck with wild animals at all, they are not toys. They are not here for our entertainment. We should be delighted when they visit, not mark them as property.show more

🚨Paul Pogba BLASTS Liam Rosenior’s managerial struggles at Chelsea:... 🗣️ Pogba: “I remember when he sat there as a pundit at Sky Sports and said I make players around me worse… funny how football works, no? Now he has a whole team and they look lost. He’s made the entire Chelsea squad worse than before he arrived, and the players don’t even understand what he’s trying to do.” “Honestly, it’s strange how Sky Sports allow people with zero ball knowledge come into their studio and say nonsense. Chelsea need a competent and a real football manager if they want to compete for titles—because right now, he looks more like a P.E teacher than a Football manager.” #CFCshow more

❤️ AWESOME HOBBY MOMENT ❤️ Jacob Misiorowski gave this... young collector a moment he'll never forget. Ryan Shorey took his 7-year-old Aaron to their local card shop over Memorial Day weekend and joked on the way there, "Wouldn't it be cool if we saw The Miz?" Misiorowski was right inside when they walked in and offered to sign Aaron's card if they pulled one from a box, as long as he got to pay for it himself. They pulled his card, got it signed on the spot, and Misiorowski even left Aaron with some pitching advice before they walked out. (via Ryan Christopher/FB)show more

It's the little things that make me excited about... the future. Many people are (rightfully) worried that AI and robotics will take their jobs. Yes, it's about money they need to live on, and solutions are needed. At the same time, it's often work that's strenuous and tedious. So we can be glad when robots take these tasks off our hands. Furthermore, robots don't need breaks, vacations, or sleep. They can be scaled quickly and are efficient. Globalization, and humanity as a whole, can therefore benefit massively from this increase in efficiency.show more

🚨 Reporter asks João Cancelo after Cristiano Ronaldo’s second... goal as Portugal thrashed Uzbekistan 5-0 in the FIFA World Cup: 🗣️ Reporter: “João Cancelo, what did you make of Cristiano Ronaldo’s performance tonight, especially that second goal?” 🗣️ João Cancelo: “I was watching the play develop and thought the defenders had everything under control. Then suddenly Cristiano accelerated, got into position, and finished the chance like it was the easiest thing in the world.” “He’s 41 years old and still making defenders look like they’re chasing shadows. At some point you stop trying to explain it and just enjoy what you’re watching.” “People will talk about the finish, but for me it was the movement before the goal. The timing, the intelligence, and the desire to attack the space were incredible.” “The funny thing is that everyone in the stadium knows what Cristiano wants to do, the defenders know it too, and somehow he still finds a way.” “At times I’m not even watching him as a teammate anymore, I’m watching him as a fan. What he continues to do at this age is something very special.” “Most players his age are talking about retirement. Cristiano is still scoring goals at the World Cup and breaking records. It doesn’t make sense, but that’s Cristiano Ronaldo. {beIN SPORTS }show more

Pest Control “secret” for those small annoying flies that... bug you while watching tv (feel free to repost since we’re moving into bug season in many areas): As we move into late spring/early summer months in US, many people like to leave doors open. Sometimes you’ll get an influx of small flies. There are 3 main species of flies that buzz around your head while sitting on the couch. The fruit fly, the phorid fly and the fungus gnat. If you see a small fly just “sitting” on your wall or a few small flies hanging out on the wall near your garbage can, it could be the fruit fly. I won’t go into boring details of how to tell various species apart, but will share one trick that can help reduce their population. First, keep your doors shut as much as possible. They gain entry usually that way, then find a source to breed in. To help reduce the breeding adults, 1) Grab a clear bowl or glass and place some red wine (or a few pieces of banana) in the glass. 2) Put some clear Saran Wrap or cling wrap on top fairly tight. 3) Next grab a pencil or pen and poke 4-6 holes in the wrap. This will allow the aroma of the fruit or wine to be strong as it comes out of the glass and will attract the flies 4) The flies will be immediately attracted to the bowl/cup and make their way into the holes you poked. Once in, they’ll drink the wine, or feed on the bananas and can’t get out. I prefer wine since they get drunk and drown. Bananas won’t kill them. Wine will. 5) Discard every 7 days and repeat. The best approach is to find the source of their breeding. Garbage disposal? (Bleach doesn’t work by the way) Garbage can? Debris under refrigerator? Also, re the fungus gnat species. This will not work. They feed on fungus, generally from overwatered potted plants inside or doors left open near extremely damp exterior area. One other method that is highly effective are the small plug in light traps. A combination of the above along with a plug in light trap will keep most fly issues at bay.show more

There has always been some amount of elite hypocrisy.... Still, I prefer what I call the “John F. Kennedy model of hypocrisy” to what we have now. JFK was a flawed man, but the image he presented to the American public was that he was a good husband, a good father. In his private life, though, he was a philanderer and often an absentee father and had other shortcomings. But he thought it was important to set an example for the people. And now we have the opposite. Today, our elites get married, they have kids, and for the most part, they live a very stable, conventional life. But if you ask them their opinions and attitudes around sex, family, around marriage, around law abidingness, hard work, punctuality, integrity, honesty, and so on, they take a very relaxed attitude. "Non-practicing libertines," as the Yale Law School professor Daniel Markovits calls them. Elites used to pay lip service to conventional values but privately strayed. Now, they publicly support straying, but privately behave in a more conventional way.show more

Background if you don’t know: the large office-to-resi conversion... in the old Pfizer building on 42nd had major structural deterioration that quickly manifested sometime this morning, and the surrounding blocks are closed to traffic. A few buildings around it have been evacuated. I’m currently looking at the building down the block (the blue-gray one to the right of the brown one in the photo). There are small but noticeable crowds on both sides of Third Avenue just watching, and people are clearly pausing on their way to wherever to take pictures and video (myself included). It reminds me of how Midwesterners go out on the porch to watch a thunderstorm or a tornado. We just need to see it.show more

Tomorrow is a big day for me. I’m going... to do an activity in my daughter’s class (she’s 5), and I’ll be teaching them what AI is. She’s excited about it, but honestly, I think I’m even more excited. I’ll tell them a little bit of history, we’ll play some games… I’ll try to make it as fun as possible, but always with a focus on ethical and responsible use. Of course, it won’t be a tutorial on how to use any tools, lol. They’re still very young, and in my opinion, it’ll be years before they actually need to start using these tools. But I think it’s important for them to start getting some awareness so they can be prepared for the future that’s coming their way.show more

✨ Every week a new AI model comes out... and it suddenly makes my half broken features work a lot better Yesterday Seedream-4-Edit came out and it made my [ Hold product ] feature on Photo AI a lot better You can now go from: 🎁 Product photo -> 👱♀️ Talking video with your AI model while holding your product. In just a few minutes! Here's a photo I took from the weekly farm box we get in our kitchen, I set it as the product and then with Photo AI made it into a talking video where my trained AI model presents it It's not perfect, as the objects inside the farm box still move around a bit, but pretty close. If the product is more uniform (like lip gloss, a product box or a book) it does a pretty good job at keeping it exactly the same This "consistency" as they call it is quite important for actual real world use. Product sellers don't want to have an image or video of an AI model if the product doesn't look exactly the same as what they sell With that, I'm getting pretty close now and every week with every new model that comes out, a bit closer And it's interesting cause now I'm finally moving from B2C a bit more to B2B where businesses can use Photo AI more, designers and stores already use it for trying on clothes etc. but now they can generate content for real products! 😊 LIVE now on Photo AIshow more

Look what they put on my hamburger! 🍔 Young... children aren’t the only ones who make sense of the world by connecting new experiences with prior knowledge - it’s just that there are so many new experiences to be had at their age. Take this little one, who has opened her cheeseburger only to find that it is unexpectedly covered with small, white, rectangular objects. Drawing on her prior knowledge of objects matching this same description, she makes a well-reasoned (if inadvertently hilarious) inference: someone at the restaurant has covered her burger with TEETH! 🦷 🦷 🦷 What an amazing window on her thinking. In this case she’ll have to accommodate for some new learning today: adding onions to her mental inventory of small, white, rectangles. But for now her reasoning is more than just funny. It’s really quite clever. Has your child ever encountered something new, only to mistake it for something to which they’d already been exposed? I’d love to hear your stories! 🎥 This amazing video - and genius little learner - was shared on TT by brandywilson566.show more

Angel was visibly emotional, wiping away tears as she... watched her little brother, JuJu, play live as an NBA player for the first time. 🤎🫶🏾 Although JuJu had already appeared n a couple of NBA games after earning his call up from the G League, this was Angel’s first opportunity to watch him on an NBA court n person. A beautiful full circle moment for a proud big sister. Watching someone you’ve supported every step of the way see their dream become reality is special, and when it’s your sibling, it hits even harder. Some moments are bigger than basketball. 🤍🙏🏾show more

Not gonna lie, $KAMIRAI has been on my radar... for a while now and it's finally starting to make some serious noise. They just burned 150 BILLION tokens in a single month. Total supply wiped out is already past 226 billion. That's not a gimmick, that's conviction. And they're not stopping there. KYORAI, their own DEX, drops next month, which means actual utility is coming, not just promises. The branding alone sets it apart. A thunder god samurai, a fire dragon, a whole universe being built around it. This feels like a project with real staying power. Presale is still open but it won't be for long. 👉 #KAMIRAI #KYORAI #Crypto #Presaleshow more

There’s an interview Pep gave during the Club World... Cup where he spoke about Pep Lijnders. He said Lijnders “opened his eyes” in a short period of time and that he’s been “drinking knowledge” from him, just as he has with his other brilliant assistants. A lot of people take that at face value or underrate the impact Lijnders has clearly had on Pep. Some around the club didn’t even want him in the building at first. But that impact doesn't hide. You see it in how they interact. It's there in every little shared celebration after a big goal, like they're dialled into the same wavelength. It’s a proper football connection. We should be more grateful to have him.show more
