It's interesting that while many #Browns fans are irate... about the reverse play call that resulted in a fumble, no one is complaining about the back-to-back trick plays Kevin Stefanski called earlier in the game. That's because the T-formation play for the touchdown worked, and the RB snap reverse toss to the QB almost worked (the pass was dropped). But when two players failed to execute a toss on a simple reverse, Stefanski was once again the worst play caller ever. Also, earlier in the game, Harrison Bryant took the snap on 3rd and 1 and got the first down. But it was called back on a false start. Then, on 4th and inches, Bryant took the snap and fumbled. We've been running QB sneak plays with Bryant all season, and yet failed player execution cost us a turnover. We promise the Browns don't practice fumbling snaps or botching simple tosses or dropping passes in their hands. Skill players should be able to execute plays that require simple skills. Right? Whether you like Stefanski's play calls or not, we just ask Browns fans to be consistent. Did you like the RB reverse toss to the QB when it worked? LB popped some during A Day and a guy... that’s in the rotation who probably isn’t getting enough kudos is Cayden Jones. I like this rep from the junior, even though it resulted in a TD. A couple of things first - OL gets a good jump off the snap. But Jones has instant play recognition and immediately dials in on the mobile design to the right - tracking his responsibility - the QB. Also have to acknowledge that it feels like Daniel Hill gives up on the play early - which in live action would’ve led to clean lane for Jones to hit the QB.show more

I’m not one to blame officials for losing games, but when it’s obvious, sometimes, it does need to be pointed out. Like the non-pass interference call to Darren Waller in the Week 6 game vs the Bills that ended the game. That was as blatantly bad as it got. In the Giants 33-25 loss yesterday to the Eagles, the officials were pretty bad to where several non-calls were that obvious. “I think there were some flags that could have been thrown, but that is not our place. That is not fair. If it’s a call, call it. It shouldn’t be a last-play mentality. If it’s a call, and if it’s blatant, then it should be called. It should be honored like it is the first play of the game.”- Giants QB Tyrod Taylor. “I’d say, any official questions, you can ask those guys.”- Giants head coach Brian Daboll, who clearly looked angry when he entered the press conference room, probably knew he’d get a massive fine if he said what he wanted to, so he kept it simple.show more

Officially moving on from Tech game after I get... this thought off my chest. I more than welcome anyone smarter than me in regards to the football to chime in. I truly, truly, truly cannot wrap my head around the thought process here. These two plays I'm sure anyone with brain can agree officially sealed KU's slim chances in having a chance to win this game. The play calling to me seems like completely flipped in logic at best? First one, you are down 4, on your own 30 so you are not going to go for this. Ignoring that we were getting dominated in the trenches in this game and that the 'obvious' play is a run, I don't get why we make the decision in a must get spot to take the ball out of our QB's (who at the time was rolling) hands. Jalon Daniels is our best player. In an absolute must get/need, we should be relying on him to make a play. Then the second one. I obviously don't know the answer here, but I feel somewhat confident that the reason we didn't run here was because of how the earlier 3rd & 1 run went. While I don't necessarily agree with the premise of decision making on this alone, I can appreciate the recognition that we are going to struggle to gain a yard in an obvious run situation. But the thing is, we are in go for it range so the one thing you absolutely cannot have is a massive negative play. Literally anything else is okay (obviously not a turnover). I truly don't think there's a good chance we run the ball on this attempt and get a yard. But THIS situation gives you a free shot at it if you want to take it. I think this play call would have worked if we didn't let their best player run at our qb freely but I'd just argue this play had a ton of potential risk that wasn't necessary. Hell even a play action pass out of out shot gun or something rolling JD out to the left would have given us a good shot at first down with an escape route to bail out on the play if something went wrong. I'm once again for the millionth time saying I know and understand that this entire staff knows more about football in their pinky than I do. But I do think the game has evolved and game + clock management doesn't really require football knowledge/have a direct correlation to one's football knowledge. It's not as simple as ESPN's graphic says GO so you should go etc, there are variables and human behavior etc to deal with and I understand that. But we are just getting these situations downright wrong. We are flipping a coin that has a 20 pound weight attached to the heads side and calling tails almost every single time. S/O anyone who read all this but would just love some insight if there's anyone who disagrees and is a lot smarter than I!show more

We used Quad formations to create a light box... and ran QB run game to the single-WR side! - Quad tag brings four receivers to the field, pulling the entire defense heavy that way and leaving the boundary side lighter - Our Long Trap scheme still leaves the backside DE unblocked while the pulling guard gives us a +1 at the point of attack. - QB takes the snap and runs it straight the RB path to the single-WR side where the defense is weak in numbers Did anyone else utilize Quad formations this last season? I’m starting to think Kevin Stefanski just wants Shedeur... Sanders to be a game manager, but that’s not who he is. Stefanski is all about safe checkdowns and keeping things simple, while Shedeur is built to make the big-time throws. So when Shedeur finally sees a chance, he’s letting it fly no matter what—because he knows he can make it. Stefanski trying to dumb him down is only going to backfire. Despite clear video evidence, Tony Grossi remains adamant that... Shedeur Sanders did NOT throw any touchdowns against the Bills in joint practice. "There were not touchdown passes by Shedeur yesterday. Live with it, realize it, accept it." Sanders connected downfield with Malachi Corley on a play where Corley easily scored. Later, Sanders threw a screen to KC Concepcion, who hit the crease for a score. People are making this QB Tracker drama about specific QBs; the part that we’re missing by doing this is…the BROWNS scored against the Bills defense. KC, Corley, these young guys made plays in this scrimmage that should be celebrated by fans; not scrutinized because of who threw the pass.show more

I have not seen enough about the decision from... Mike Vrabel and Tim Kelly to go for 2 down by 8 last night. Here’s why I loved it: 1) NFL teams this season have been successful on 55% of two-point conversion attempts. The odds were in the Titans’ favor. 2) Will Levis was dealing in the 2nd half. 3) Titans still had all three timeouts and the two-minute warning. 4) Miami struggled to move the ball on offense all night. Their three scoring drives went for 12, 7, and 59 yards. 5) If successful on the two-point conversion, a stop on defense and a TD wins the game. If unsuccessful, you can still send it to OT. 6) Titans offense marched down the field, scored the TD to make it a one possession game and essentially told Miami, “we are going for two because we know you cannot stop us right now.” The odds are in your favor. It’s a good mathematical decision. You want to psych out an opposing offense? Give them the ball knowing they need to run the clock out, or you are going to have a chance to WIN the game, not send it to overtime. They saw what your offense just did to their defense. They saw your QB on the sideline screaming and hyping everyone up. Cutting the lead to six put WAY more pressure on the Dolphins offense. You want to hype up your defense? Put them back on the field knowing your offense just did their job. Put them back on the field knowing a stop and a TD wins it. At that point, they aren’t in the mindset of “we need a stop to have a chance to go to OT.” They are thinking, “let’s go out here, get a stop, and give our offense a chance to WIN.” There’s a fundamental difference in playing to WIN and playing NOT to LOSE. This was a decision by a coaching staff that was playing to WIN. Brilliant game by Vrabel and Kelly. Brilliant execution late in the game by the offense and the defense. Completely out-coached one of the best offensive minds in the game. #Titansshow more

This runner at first was caught in a pick... off move by the pitcher. Pitcher throws to first and the first baseman fires to second and the umpire calls him out. He looked safe on the play. However, the umpire admits he was safe but said he called him out because the other team was losing 10-0 in the first inning. He said “he was so safe but I just gave it to them.” Basically saying we gotta’ get the game moving right? Fellow umpires, some coaches and parents said they respect the call and why. But many people said you are cheating that one runner by calling him out. They said no matter the score you have to have integrity even if it is 20-0. They said this is why kids grow up disliking umpires and why parents act the way they do. Tough one- I actually understand where he is coming from but if that were your kid, would you want him called out? I say call the game the right way 100% and let it play out the way it is supposed to. How is the other team supposed to get better if you are giving them calls? Do you agree with the umpire and why he did it? Or, are you totally against that and that should never happen?show more

Following 2 of the dumber play designs of the... year, the Eagles end up in 4th and 2. They go empty and the 49ers counter with C0. They know there are 2 things the Eagles like to do from empty: QB run and DeVonta Smith out routes. The C0 blitz stacks the box and helps eliminate the QB run, while the slot corner just sits on the out route. Hurts has to try to throw it, because every other route is just a curl or a vertical route. Not 1 route targeting the middle of the field against C0, and the Eagles turn it over on downs. You can't be that predictable.show more

If you think pre season is a joke then... you have no idea how difficult it is for players to stay in shape and most of this training are connected to how the team wants to play during the season. This is what the first few days in the pre season looks like and medicals like blood test, flexibility check, mobility test, VO2Max test, and the heart test to see if the heart is healthy. My personal view on pre season test is that I hated the VO2Max test and if you are not fit enough the pass the test which usually last for just 15 minutes. When I was at Vitesse Arnhem and Red star Belgrade my medicals took 3days to be completed and it was the longest I ever had. If you don't take your off season trainings seriously you will be exposed on the first day of pre season test and you will be in trouble with the coach.show more
