URGENT PUBLIC APPEAL TO AP Pollution Control Board, Central... Pollution Control Board & Deputy CMO, Andhra Pradesh Shri Pawan Kalyan garu Sir, Visible emissions were observed from the acid plant stacks of Coromandel International unit inKakinada during the nights of 14th & 15th March 2026, reportedly during trial production. As an Environment Conservationist, I urge the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board and Central Pollution Control Board to take immediate precautionary action in the interest of public health. According to the Andhra Pradesh Cancer Atlas (2021–2025), Kakinada district already has one of the highest cancer burdens in the state with about 8,101 reported cases. In such a sensitive public health context, any visible industrial emissions warrant urgent regulatory scrutiny / Pollution Audit. Legal & Public Health Concerns: • Under Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, particularly Sections 21 & 22, industries must comply with emission standards even during trial production. • Visible plumes from acid plant stacks can sometimes indicate inefficiencies in emission control systems, including scrubbing units meant to capture acid mist and fluorides. • Complex fertilizer manufacturing processes may involve emissions of volatile compounds and respiratory irritants, which require strict monitoring. Public Interest Requests In the interest of transparency and public safety, I respectfully request: Immediate stack monitoring and compliance inspection of the newly commissioned phosphoric and sulphuric acid plants. Public disclosure of Real-Time CEMS (Continuous Emission Monitoring System) data for 14th & 15th March 2026. Temporary suspension of trial operations if emission control efficiencies are found to be below prescribed standards. The people of Kakinada deserve clean air and transparency. Protection of environmental health is inseparable from the Right to Life under Article 21 of the Constitution of India. 🚨 AN INVISIBLE “FOREVER CHEMICAL” RAIN IS FALLING ACROSS... THE ENTIRE PLANET. Chemicals introduced to protect the ozone layer may have quietly created a growing global pollution problem. A new study estimates that CFC replacements and certain anesthetic gases have deposited more than 335,500 tonnes of trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) a highly persistent “forever chemical” onto Earth’s surface since 2000. TFA is now showing up in rainwater from every continent and even in remote Arctic ice. Why this matters: • TFA belongs to the PFAS family and resists breaking down in the environment for extremely long periods • It can travel globally through the atmosphere and is extremely difficult to remove once deposited • Levels are expected to keep rising for decades because some source gases remain in the air for a long time • Newer “climate-friendly” refrigerants (HFOs) are adding to the problem, especially in vehicle air conditioning The deeper implication is sobering: We solved one major environmental crisis (ozone depletion) by switching to new chemicals… only to discover those replacements are creating a different, potentially long-lasting global contamination issue. It’s a powerful reminder that every chemical substitution carries hidden risks we don’t always see until years later. How do we balance solving one environmental problem without creating another? The whispers are gone. Climate change is here, and... the water is at our doors. From Mumbai to Miami, from Dubai to Dublin, from Argentina to Australia, Toronto to Texas, cities around the world are facing a new reality – a reality of ferocious flash floods and towering tsunamis. The science is clear. Our planet is warming, causing erratic weather patterns and rising sea levels. This translates to heavier rainfall, more powerful storms, and a growing threat to coastal communities. We've seen it recently, haven't we?! The heart-wrenching images of entire neighborhoods underwater, the desperate struggle for survival against the unforgiving current. Closer to home, here in Lagos, we stand at a crossroad. We are a vibrant city, a center of commerce and culture. But we are also vulnerable. The rising sea level threatens our very foundation. Now is the time to act. We need robust flood defenses, and a collective commitment to sustainable environmental practices. We must protect our infrastructure, our homes, and most importantly, our people. Global warming is real. Ensure you keep your environment clean at all times and do not engage in any activity that can hinder the free flow of water. #CleanerLagos #HealthierLagos #AGreaterLagosRising The Lagos State Govt Babajide Sanwo-Olushow more

JUST IN: Meta AI introduces Voicebox, an all-in-one generative... speech model. Voicebox is an impressive breakthrough! It could do for speech what other models like GPT-3 and Stable Diffusion have done for text and images. Some key details: - Voicebox can synthesize speech across 6 languages - It's a general-purpose model that can perform tasks it wasn't trained on. It can perform noise removal, content editing, style conversion, and more - Supports in-context text-to-speech synthesis and cross-lingual style transfer - It's 20x faster than current models and outperforms single-purpose models through in-context learning paper: blog:show more

Love this from Taylor Swift about being mindful with... our most valuable resource: our energy and our attention. Too often we give it away (to social media companies who know its value and are desperate to take it from us), instead of investing it in ourselves and things that are worthy of it. #Pune: Private Builder Caught Dumping Untreated Sewage into #RamRiver... Since 2021, Environmentalists Demand Immediate Action ..... . . In a shocking revelation, it has been discovered that a private builder, a prominent real estate developer in Pune, has been clandestinely dumping untreated sewage into the Ram River since 2021. The magnitude of this environmental transgression has reached alarming proportions, with over 10 million litres of sewage having been recklessly discharged into the river. The modus operandi involves Rohan Madhuban, a high-end society in Bavdhan Khurd with over 330 flats and nearly 1000 residents. Despite the absence of a functional Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) within the society premises for several years, the builder has persistently managed the sewage treatment process. However, driven by cost-cutting motives, the builder opted to collect the wastewater in tankers, bypassing any treatment, and directly releasing it into the Ram River and other public areas in Bavdhan. The distressing aspect is that the unsuspecting residents of Rohan Madhuban are unwittingly complicit in this environmental crime, contributing to the significant pollution of the river. This egregious act has prompted swift action from concerned parties, with Krunnal Gharre, representing the Aam Aadmi Party, and environmentalists lodging formal complaints with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB)..........
