As an Environment Conservationist, I urge the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board and Central Pollution Control Board to take immediate precautionary action in the interest of public health. According to the Andhra Pradesh Cancer Atlas (2021–2025), Kakinada district already has one of the highest cancer burdens in the state with about 8,101 reported cases. In such a sensitive public health context, any visible industrial emissions warrant urgent regulatory scrutiny / Pollution Audit. Legal & Public Health Concerns: • Under Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, particularly Sections 21 & 22, industries must comply with emission standards even during trial production. • Visible plumes from acid plant stacks can sometimes indicate inefficiencies in emission control systems, including scrubbing units meant to capture acid mist and fluorides. • Complex fertilizer manufacturing processes may involve emissions of volatile compounds and respiratory irritants, which require strict monitoring.
