PAP (post-activation potentiation) or PAPE (post-activation performance enhancement -as... shown here) is a really useful physiologic phenomenon This is an extremely useful physiologic phenomenon that can: 1. Enhance power based rehab & performance 2. Potentially overcome inhibition preventing quality muscle activation during rehab PAP refers to: The influence of a muscle’s contractile history on subsequent performance Often we think about this from a negative influence, such as muscle fatigue, however in acute settings high-intensity dynamic muscle contractions, or a single maximal isometric contraction can enhance the next performance. I cover this in detail in all of my courses, including the online course 👉Strength & Conditioning For Therapists Which is ENROLLING NOW! #strengthandconditioning #powerrehab #postactivationpotentiation #postactivationperformanceenhancement #getbacktosport #sportsmed #fizio #strengthrehabshow more

Normalise RDL as a main movement. The Romanian Deadlift... (RDL) or Heavy Barbell Hip Hinge is a powerhouse exercise that has gained a lot of popularity among strength and conditioning coaches, powerlifters, and bodybuilders alike. This movement is often called an “athlete maker" in my mind due to its ability to build strength, muscle mass, and athleticism in both men and women. One of the primary reasons why the RDL is so effective for athletes is because it is triphasic, for the uninitiated meaning it involves three distinct phases of muscle action: eccentric, isometric, and concentric. During the eccentric phase, the lifter is lowering the weight, which creates tension and stress on the muscles, leading to greater muscle damage and adaptation. The isometric phase occurs when the lifter pauses at the bottom of the lift, holding the weight in a static position, which increases the time under tension and helps to build strength and stability. Finally, during the concentric phase, the lifter raises the weight, activating the muscles in a way that promotes greater hypertrophy. Compared to a traditional deadlift off the floor, the RDL places a greater emphasis on the posterior chain, specifically the proximal hamstring, glutes, and erector spinae muscles. The lift also engages the distal hamstring muscles in a nearly fully extended position, promoting greater muscle activation and strengthening. The RDL is an excellent way to develop strength and hypertrophy in these muscle groups, leading to improved overall athletic performance, including greater power, speed, and explosiveness. Given the numerous benefits of the RDL, it should be a main movement in any training program that aims to improve strength, muscle mass, and overall athletic performance. Incorporating heavy barbell hip hinge movements, such as the RDL, into your training regimen can help to promote better posture, improved mobility, and greater overall strength and athleticism. So, whether you are a powerlifter, bodybuilder, or athlete, consider adding the RDL to your training program to take your strength and athleticism to the next level.show more

A recent post circulating from Andrew Huberman claims that... low reps don’t build muscle and that high reps are necessary for muscle growth. However, this doesn’t align with the data I’ve studied. At the core of muscle building is the principle of overload and pushing your muscles close to failure. It’s often said you should leave about one rep “in the tank” — though this can be tricky to gauge. In my training routine, I start with warm-ups, then perform 1-2 intense sets before moving on. Each muscle group is worked 2-3 times per week. Now, consider this: can doing 12-20 half-hearted reps truly build more muscle than a few well-executed, heavy sets? The answer is clear—quality and intensity triumph over mere quantity. Support this page by shopping at Tiger Fitness !show more

Dry Needling: Ultrasound Diagnosis A patient presents with pain... along the semitendinosus muscle and a suspected muscle fiber tear. A thigh ultrasound is ordered. Ultrasound reveals multiple linear tracts of increased echogenicity in the proximal third of the semitendinosus muscle, which correlate with a history of dry needling performed 3 days before the radiological study. Dry needling is an invasive technique used in physiotherapy to eliminate painful muscle points (or trigger points) that can develop due to overuse. It is essential not to perform this treatment within 5 days of a diagnostic ultrasound or MRI, as it can hinder or prevent the diagnosis of a muscle injury, especially a grade I injury.show more

Put a footballer in an activity with moderate to... low emotional stress and they will execute actions with positive intent (approach behaviour) Now put them on the pitch in a game perceived to be important…behavioural inhibition can kick in This is one reason why session design and coach behaviour are prime mediators of player mental skills And it’s why coaches need a psychological framework as a template to help player and team mindset Attention Intensity Intent “In the most important games, our players compete in their High Performance Mindset…with attention, intensity, intent. I know this because every player has their own unique mental framework and our team is committed to High Performance Mindset as a collective… …I know this because we’ve trained High Performance Mindset in every activity in every session every day…through our designs and through our instructions” Every activity Every session Every dayshow more

Realizing people might not have realized that by "flower... game" I mean this end screen is a DIRECT reference to the book of unveiling in Destiny 2, which itself refers to a modified version of John Horton Conway's Game of Life; the book refers to this as The Flower Game, a zero-player game where the only move is the initial set up of the pieces and their behaviors. I think if this Durandal is the one from the end of Marathon Infinity, then perhaps he's found a way to influence the Flower Game, and is using that influence to re-write the universe to create a reality that allows his escape from reality itself.show more

Some replies on my previous post mentioned it’s normal... for performance to drop when there are lots of alpha effects/particles on screen. But in this broken game, you don’t need a lot, just a single roll can tank the FPS even on a 4070 super. 1/2 #MGSDeltashow more

Cormack et al. observed altered flight time to contraction time ratio up to 2 days after elite competition “despite little changes in jump height performance” Different movement solutions occur to maintain a desired “performance” metric such as jump height or power output Legg et al. suggested that altering CMJ mechanics assisted with maintenance of jump height while in a fatigued state, with changes in dip magnitude observed midseason despite no change in jump height. 2️⃣RSI-mod as an alternative variable ?? CMJ height alone may not always discriminate between rugby league cohorts, emphasizing the requirement for the associated underpinning force-time variables [to indicate jump ‘strategy’], or RSImod at the very least McMahon et al. reported that a group of combined professional senior SL and RLC rugby league players who performed the CMJ with a “higher RSImod” demonstrated higher force, velocity and thus power outputs. 3️⃣Sensitive to change of different metrics , Jump Height 🆚 RSI-mod? CMJ height was not sensitive to change in neuromuscular status of elite Australian Rules Football athletes pre- to post-match, from 48-hours pre- to 48-hours post-match 📌Conclusions - RSImod or FT:CT may prove more useful overall as an indicator of readiness, slow SSC activity, and neuromuscular fatigue as they impact the coordinative strategy and jumping performance. - A decline of 8% in FT:CT or RSImod would indicate a change requiring intervention as at this level of neuromuscular fatigue there are considerable changes to performance 📚 📕Hughes, S., Warmenhoven, J., Haff, G. Massive performance improvement. This is a bit more of... technical post, but man do I love this stuff! Units navigate the map using a 'Navigation Mesh'. Before, I was using one giant nav mesh that spanned the entire map. The more objects that were placed (especially on a large map such as this 'RadarAttack' map designed by Syphotic | Steel Command), the larger the 'lag' would be after placement. You can see here that there is a massive frame drop and the navmesh doesnt update for almost 5 seconds. Now, there are a ton of tiny navmeshes that connect to one another, and together they cover the whole map. Now, when an object is placed, the navmesh will update instantly, because it no longer needs to parse through every object on the map (potentially thousands!!!). It only needs to parse through the objects that exist in the mini navmesh that the object was placed in (probably only 1-5 objects now!). Performance XP Boost +100! Say hello to Boojum 👋: zkSync Era’s new high-performance... proof system for radical decentralization. Boojum is an upgrade that will transition zkSync Era to a STARK-powered proof system, providing world-class performance on consumer-grade hardware. 💡 Learn more: TL;DR 👇 Boojum is the name of our Rust-based cryptographic library, which we use to implement the upgraded version of the ZK circuits for zkSync Era and the ZK Stack. The name Boojum was inspired by Lewis Carroll's poem "The Hunting of the Snark," where the Boojum represents the most fearsome kind of Snark. We intentionally designed zkSync Era in a way that cryptographic upgrades can be made without a regenesis, meaning that the Boojum upgrade won’t cause any user disruptions. Why Boojum❓ From day one, zkSync’s mission is to advance personal freedom for all — making digital self-ownership universally accessible by building a blockchain network that is trustless, secure, permissionless, affordable, easy to use, resilient and limitlessly scalable. Boojum plays an important role in advancing this mission by delivering: 1. World-class performance zkSync Era’s current SNARK-based proof system is effective today, but it won’t scale to the volume that we envision for hyperchains. zkSync Era’s sequencer can already process over 100 TPS; Boojum orders of magnitude improvements to performance complements this well. 2. Reduced hardware requirements for decentralization Our long-term goal is to enable user-powered, decentralized proof generation. Boojum represents a breakthrough in this direction — with the prover running on consumer-grade GPUs requiring only 16 GB GPU RAM. Boojum’s Journey to Mainnet 🚴🏽♀️ Boojum is now live on Mainnet, generating and verifying ‘shadow proofs’ today with real production data so that we can carefully test the system ahead of fully migrating. Today, we’re also open-sourcing the repo; if you’d like to take a look, you can find it here 👇 This is the first of a series of posts on Boojum. We will provide updates on our progress, including more details on implementation, security, and performance. Watch here for more, anon ∎show more
