Don't really grind the tape much at 2-10, but... was talking to Isaiah Hodgins about how he was like prime Karl Malone with the effective (and legal) picks he was setting last week. The first one, Theo Johnson is the first read and he's open enough, but my goodness if Jameis saw Hodgins on the "roll"... The second one, that's a really savvy, subtle pick that opened up Wan'Dale for what should have been a huge play in OT. These are winning plays that don't show up in the box score. The Giants need more of things like this (and then obviously better execution)show more

Final three plays from the Steelers yesterday. First one... is double-slant/flat to the trips side. Rodgers expects MVS to continue inside but he whips back out. Second one is another miscommunication between Rodgers and MVS. Rodgers seems to be expecting MVS to hitch/post up but MVS runs a fade. Third one looks like a playground route where Rodgers said in the huddle, “Get open.” Really disappointing that they targeted MVS all three plays. With limited reps between him and Rodgers, the miscommunications are not a surprise. I get having Gainwell chip Garrett, but on at least one of these I would have liked to see them work the ball to Gainwell in space. These are quick throws. Cook could have handled Garrett without help. Also would have liked to work the MOF with Freiermuth. Feels like the Steelers should have had a concept they could run here rather than a bunch of isolation routes.show more

He's a really good ball player who grew up in South Dakota, went to Central Michigan, went undrafted, and has worked his ass off to get a Non-Roster invite to Spring Training. Lock is a big dude, but centers his hitting approach with the opposite field gap to "stay on" the ball, which is an approach that allows him to hit "gap to gap". Griffin catches, plays 1st base, can play the outfield, drive the bus, mow the infield, could definitely manage, or anything other thing a club might need him to do. Before receiving the ball, glances over his left shoulder (X2) to see where Ronald is. Sees Sheffield's LW move over to the left, so steps to the right to make the pass easier for Galbraith. On AEW Grand Slam Australia: Yes, the merch stand... was poorly planned out like last year. Yes, there were empty seats and some fans apparently were moved. Yes, a perhaps unwise choice was made with the booking of the first AEW match on the card IMO. But I'll say this, and you can't feel this through a phone screen, but it was such a fun atmosphere and a fun show for the most part. And my cousin (15), whose first ever live show this was, keeps talking about how cool certain spots and moments were (particularly the ladder match and crowd fighting). They made a fan out of him last night, and I just think that's pretty cool. Sure, it won't move the needle, but we were all that kid falling in love with pro-wrestling once upon a time. It's nice to see the tradition continue. So yeah, it was well done show on an emotional level, and on a wrestling level, if not entirely on a logistical level.show more
