Forecasts are calling for another round of potentially heavy... snow for eastern Ontario, arriving as early as overnight tonight and continuing throughout Wednesday (January 21st). Be prepared. If you have to be on the roads Wednesday, give yourself extra time, clear ALL the snow from your vehicle, adjust your driving to match conditions (slow down and leave extra following distance), keep full headlight system turned on and keep your eyes on the road. If you are behind a working snowplow, stay there. Consider adding an emergency kit to your vehicle, and make sure to top up your fuel and windshield washer fluid. Check for road conditions before heading out, and monitor local radio for road and weather updates while you're driving. #ONHwys #OttTraffic #ONStorm #DriveSafe ^bdshow more

This is Thursday.. 2:30pm at Circle. It’s the Same... distance but Different fare. The “short-short” routine is in full swing. Drivers load from Circle to Old Station, drop, reload to Mile 7, drop, reload again and each stop means another payment. Meanwhile, passengers are stranded, queues growing by the minute, and the cost quietly stacking up. If you don’t own a car, this is your daily reality. You either pay up or stay stuck. For many, this isn’t just a transport issue. It’s a survival issue. And so far, the response hasn’t matched the frustration on the ground. Circle and other stations right now tells a bigger storyshow more

We took a short drive on the road along... the river by our home this morning. As you can see, a bit overgrown due to cattle! This is exact same land on which we used to be able to see a herd of impala at 200 meters at this time of year, in the days before we began managing holistically. Now we could not see one at one meter. And this is what we are seeing following now over twenty years of poor rainfall. The river this year already drier than ever known. If only…….show more

Assess terrain from your desk with four new tools... in Google Earth. Terrain decides where sunlight hits, how irrigation lines run, how steep an access road gets, and how much dirt has to move before anything gets planted or built. Using these tools is as easy as point-and-click: 🗺️ Elevation contours: See how the ground rises and falls with on-demand contour lines down to 1-meter intervals. 📐 Slope: Check how steep the land is at 1-meter resolution to plan access roads and building pads. ☀️ Aspect: See which way the slope faces to check sunlight exposure across your site. ⚖️ Cut and fill: Calculate how much dirt has to move so excavation matches fill and keeps hauling costs down. These tools are available on all Google Earth plans. Standard allows you to generate one layer with a tool each month. Professional plans include expanded access and capabilities when you need more tools, a larger site, or both. Learn more:show more

There is something about running on the road that... a treadmill can never teach you. The road doesn't care if you're tired, if it's humid, if you've had a long day at work, or if you didn't sleep well. It simply demands you to keep moving. During last two years, I've run on empty roads before sunrise, sometimes on streets filled with traffic, flyovers that tested my strength, and stretches where the only sound I could hear was of me losing breath. Every run on the road has been different but every time I run on road, it reminds me that running is far more mental than physical. When you run on the road, you can't control everything. There are potholes, traffic lights, barking dogs, unexpected distractions, humidity, rain, headwinds. You have to adapt instead of complain. You must stop waiting for perfect conditions because progress rarely comes on perfect days. Road running has also taught me patience. You don't become a marathoner in a week. Every long run, every early alarm, every extra kilometer is an investment. There are no shortcuts, you need to be consistent. The biggest challenge is never the distance. It's the voice inside your head that tells you to stop. There were times when my mind wanted to quit but every time I chose to keep going, I finished the target only to feel more stronger, not just physically, but mentally. One thing I love about running on roads is that they constantly remind you to stay present. You have to watch where you step, be aware of traffic, adjust your pace, and make decisions every second. Running on road rewards focus and punishes distraction. It's a lesson that extends well beyond running. Another lesson is that the most challenging routes usually offer the greatest results. The steep climbs while running on bridges make your legs stronger. The long runs build the deepest confidence. Running on roads has also taught me that discomfort is temporary, consistency beats motivation, and growth begins the moment you choose not to quit. The roads of Karachi are more than training ground for me. They've seen me on my happiest mornings and my toughest days. These streets have quietly become my therapist, my teacher, and my coach. They've listened when I had no one to talk to, challenged me when I wanted to quit, and reminded me that no matter how chaotic life gets, the only way forward is one step at a time.show more

A reminder for everyone getting carried away by BTC... these past few days: A 15% rally doesn’t mean the bear market is over. Look at the last two midterm election years: 2018: BTC rallied nearly 50% from August to September. 2022: BTC rallied more than 20% during the same period. Both were followed by another major drop. History tells us one thing: A single rally isn’t enough to confirm that the bear market bottom is in.show more
