People of Namibia 🇳🇦 I now have ONLY 22... years left to PENSION counting from FRIDAY 28 August 1987. I spent the day Working Amongst the masses of our people. I particularly spent the day in the POLICE HOLDING CELLS here in Katima Mulilo. I looked into the faces of the young men in those cells and TOLD them that all is not lost. Life can still change. They can still be exceptional Namibians. They can still Lead, build and develop our society. These police cells, opened by B. J Voster in 1967, was meant for 80 inmates but is now overcrowded with 212 inmates. It gets worse, the whole of Zambezi Region has no holding cells for women. Yes, the whole region has no female holding cells. But let’s return, thank you for your kind wishes on my time measurement. As I continue to recover well following a major and life-threatening surgical procedure, my heart is filled with gratitude. Fellow Zimbabweans, allow me to sincerely thank two remarkable brothers who made sure that I received the best possible medical attention and care when I needed it most: Dr. Kudakwashe Tagwirei and Hon. Kudakwashe Mnangagwa. Without hesitation, they stepped in and ensured that I had access to specialist healthcare and the support required for a successful procedure. Their concern for my wellbeing was genuine, and their actions reminded me that true brotherhood is demonstrated through deeds, not words. I would also like to express my deepest appreciation to the team of Zimbabwean specialist doctors and medical professionals who carried out such a complex procedure with exceptional skill and professionalism. By the grace of Almighty God and through their expertise, the operation was successful, and I am now on the road to recovery. From driving me to specialist consultations, hospital visits, reviews, and follow-up treatments, he has been a pillar of strength and unwavering support. This experience has taught me that wealth is not measured by money alone, but by the people who stand beside you during your darkest moments. I have been truly blessed by God with brothers, friends, and medical professionals who refused to let me walk this journey alone. This is her story: She attended the rave alongside her boyfriend, Oz Ezra, who was also slain that day. The pair tried to flee the onslaught of terrorists, and Oz was shot in the shoulder but continued to run for safety. At the Shaar Hanegev junction, Naomie was killed by a group of terrorists while on a video call with her friends. She was buried in Ashdod on October 9. She is survived by her mother, Simona, and her siblings Livnat, David, Noa and Aviv. Born in France, she and her family moved to Israel when she was 13, following the death of her father, Jacky, according to a eulogy posted on the Ashdod municipal website. I will never forget how my stunned little heart felt the day you and Jeff offered me Head of Story. It has been one of the great thrills of my life to shape this story with you. Thank you. I was in the middle of boarding The Egg Hatches scene, when I got the news that my mom had unexpectedly passed away from a complication during surgery. And part of me feels like there is some beautiful symbolism there that right when I lost her, this thing was being born for me to help me deal with her loss. As story artists, we have to live in the scenes that we work on for hours each day. And this film (from peter brown! ‘s beautiful book) gave me a place to live. In scenes and a story that could honor my mom, and all mothers. And that is just a gift that I can never repay any of you for. I still ask myself sometimes, how did I get so lucky that they offered this to me? But I’m so glad they did because I think I needed this project even more than it needed me. On one of my last days in London watching the record of Kris Bowers’ beautiful score, sitting in the converted church that is Air Studios, I could somehow feel my mom speaking to me through the words of the lovely choir: I’m gonna live forever in you, long as the sky and oceans are blue, I’ll always love you and I’ll never stop. I’ll always be there even when I’m not.” And everything came full circle. I miss you Mom. I hope that this film will always stand as a love letter to all moms. As it was the place I put all of my unexpressed love for you.
