UPDATE: Army Sergeant Asked for Reduced Bond, Left with... One Even Higher Paul Thames, 29, asked a judge Thursday to reduce his $200,000 bond but left court with a $1 million bond. Thames' attorneys filed a motion arguing that he is jailed unlawfully because he is entitled to a reasonable bond. Thames told police he had been the boyfriend of the child's mother for a few months. He said the boy didn't want to work on his ABCs, so he took him outside the apartment to discipline him. Thames' attorney argued that if Thames made bond, he would immediately go into the custody of Army officials at Fort Hood, who have also charged him. The judge not only decided to keep the bond but also raised it by $800,000. No trial date has been set in Thames' case.show more

In the USA in 2022, a Muslim man applied... for a job at a private company that helps people find jobs. The interview was going well. The company had even started looking for jobs for him. Then he said that on Fridays he would need extra time in the afternoon for Jummah prayer. If the office happened to be near a mosque, maybe it wouldn’t even be necessary. The moment he said that, the company stopped the interview. They said that because of the schedule and the prayer, he would not be given the job. Later, when he asked whether he had been rejected because of the prayer, the company also barred him from any future jobs. Then that person filed a complaint with the EEOC. In September 2024, the EEOC filed a lawsuit against the company in federal court and alleged that he had been subjected to religious discrimination and that retaliation had been taken against him after he complained. In 2025, under pressure, the company had to settle for $217,500. Isn’t this an abuse of the law? The man had come asking for a separate schedule for namaz along with the job, and the law there gave him so much money that he doesn’t even need to work. Religious freedom does not mean that workplace rules should run according to one’s own wishes. The one giving the job — their work hours, shifts, and customers’ needs also matter. So, I got on a train from London to... Twickenham today, except it became apparent after a little while that it was heading to Weybridge and wasn’t going to Twickenham, so I randomly decided to get off here at Staines upon Thames. Now I’ve always known it as just Staines, but they’re obviously more upmarket and posh here now. A bit like Henley or Richmond. I walked from the station through the market to the river and have found a most pleasant pub. If I don’t get a job with the Staines upon Thames tourist board with this post and my photos, there’s no justice. So anyway, come to Staines upon Thames; it’s the place to be.show more

Here's why Jack Lowden would be perfect as James... Bond: • Scottish legacy - He'd be the first Scottish Bond since Sean Connery, just how Ian Fleming described the character in his books. • The right age - At 36, he could make the role his own over the next decade. • Already a spy - His performance in Slow Horses has shown he can play a convincing spy. He's tough, charming and believable in action scenes. • A fresh face - He's well known but not yet a global superstar, so audiences would see Bond, not a celebrity playing him.show more

Actual reality of Professor Sooryanaryana, who has been suspended... 🚨 Amrit is his student. He had many fights and disagreements with Doolla. They rarely had any agreements. But despite everything, Prof. Doolla was always there for students in need. Whenever Amrit went to his office, he received more financial help than he could have imagined. Once, he asked for hostel fees and the professor paid him for almost 3 months. He helped students even at 3-4 AM, stood by those who were ill and supported students admitted to hospitals. Amrit doesn't know the full truth about the current situation, but based on his experience, he believes Prof. Doolla is not someone who would threaten a student. Even a student on Twitter claimed that the professor failed him in one subject but he never harassed him. Instead, he was encouraged to do better. This is the kind of man people want arrested. Prof. Doolla deserved a better education system. We have failed him 🙏show more
