When History Warns Us, We Must Not Ignore It... We never expected the Chief Minister of Keralam to take such a position under any circumstances. But on this issue, we need to look back at history. Because the people of Keralam have every right to ask: whose political pressure is behind this decision of the Chief Minister? When we examine the history of Vande Mataram, one thing becomes clear. This is not a political issue that emerged yesterday. During India’s freedom struggle, Vande Mataram became a symbol of national consciousness and the spirit of freedom for millions of Indians. The Muslim League was formed in 1906. During the 1930s, opposition to certain portions of Vande Mataram became increasingly prominent among sections of Muslim political leadership, including the Muslim League. In 1937, the Congress moved towards adopting the first two stanzas of Vande Mataram for official occasions. This remains an important episode in our history. But one thing must be made absolutely clear. This is not an allegation against the Muslim community. Many Muslims participated wholeheartedly in India’s freedom struggle and sang Vande Mataram as part of the national movement. Therefore, today’s debate is not against any religion. It is a debate about political positions concerning nationalism. But history also raises another important question. In 1937, political opposition emerged over the use of Vande Mataram. Subsequently, the politics demanding the partition of India became stronger, and ultimately, in 1947, the country was divided. That is why, when in 2026 a position is being taken in Keralam that Vande Mataram need not be sung, a natural question arises: Where will such political compromises take us? What will the state of Keralam’s national consciousness be ten years from now? If we begin making political compromises over one national symbol today, what will prevent similar compromises on other national symbols tomorrow? That is the question Keralam needs to debate today. We have even witnessed situations where a teacher faced serious consequences merely because a question about Veer Savarkar was included in a quiz competition. When a historical figure, an idea, or a national song becomes subject to political pressure, it should concern every democratic society. That is why the BJP is bringing Muhammad Ali Jinnah into this discussion today. This is not a discussion about one individual. It is not a discussion about one religion. Nor is it a discussion against any community. It is a discussion about the future of nationalism. If we want to ensure that history does not repeat itself, we must learn from history. Those who say today that Vande Mataram need not be sung—who can guarantee that tomorrow they will not question another national symbol? If we continue surrendering our national values to political pressure, what we ultimately stand to lose will not merely be the words of a song—it will be our sense of national unity. Therefore, our message to the Chief Minister of Keralam is very clear: Do not surrender nationalism to political pressure. No one needs anyone’s permission to sing Vande Mataram in Keralam. Every Indian has the right to embrace this national song, which inspired the freedom struggle of our country. Even if you do not sing it, Keralam will sing it. Even if you exclude it from government programmes, the BJP will ensure that Vande Mataram and the National Anthem are sung across Keralam. Because the Bharatiya Janata Party will stand at the forefront to protect the national consciousness of this land. As long as Narendra Modi leads this country, we will not allow politics opposed to India’s unity and integrity to take root on this soil. There will be no compromise on nationalism in Keralam. It is a social statement and, yes, it is an act of domination. Anybody who understands Islamism understands that the domination of public spaces is part of the modus operandi. It is done so Islamists can show who is in charge - and to show other Muslims and the wider public that the authorities will bend to their will. There is quite obviously no need to pray here. We hope that other major world powers will also take a clear stance that this war must end and that a reliable peace must be achieved. Of course, we discussed the situation in the Black Sea, including the existing threats to civilian shipping. We concur that it is absolutely unacceptable to block food supplies to regions where this is a highly sensitive issue and where people depend on these maritime routes. The Serbian community has deep roots in this city since its earliest days. Chicagoland is home to the largest Serbian community outside of Serbia and the Balkans. We are a huge, longstanding, and proud community in this city and we will not accept being disregarded or insulted. Without any consultation with our community, a decision was made to raise the flag of the terrorist and criminal “Republic of Kosovo” at Daley Plaza. This is an occupied territory that remains deeply painful for the Serbian people as this land is the centerpiece of our religion, culture and identity. For our community, this act is not symbolic or fun, it is a political statement that directly insults us. This action is unacceptable. If this terrorist flag of so called Republic of Kosovo is raised again in our city without dialogue or consideration of our community, you should expect a highly visible public protest at levels you’ve never seen before. Today in Lagos State, yet again, we witnessed an... ugly but all-too-familiar scene: thugs allegedly sponsored and elements of the police working not to protect the people, but to intimidate, harass, and silence them. During GRV’s event, what should have been a peaceful democratic gathering turned into a targeted attempt to suppress free expression and political participation. Yet, in the face of fear and violence, brave Nigerians stood tall. We are immensely proud of those citizens who acted with courage and unity to protect one another and ensure GRV and his supporters were escorted to safety. This is the spirit of true democracy the will of the people refusing to be broken. But we must say this clearly and without apology: the use of violence, intimidation, and state-backed thuggery to undermine political opposition is a stain on Lagos State’s democratic record. This same pattern played out during the last elections, where voters were attacked, threatened, and in some cases injured simply for supporting the candidate of their choice. It is worse than dishonest - it is an absolute lack of care. Penny Wong came to this country when she was 8 years old. She came to a country that afforded her the ability to become who she is, and she is now doing her part to destroy it. Back in the 70’s, when she came, Australia was a fair-minded place and a great place to be. Yet here she is... Here in Australia. Undermining our country and lying to our faces. Because she can’t tell the truth. Because if she did, it would destroy any semblance of care for Australia tied to her old party’s Labor brand. It would say the quiet part out loud. The truth. The truth that the Albanese government is more interested in the fortunes of the ISIS brides, women who chose to leave this country to go and fight against our people, than those of us that can’t find or afford a place to live here at home. Too much corruption, too many words too carefully chosen in a pantomime between to political forces that don’t really want to change anything. They just want to have their go, to have their turn to jam their grubby hands into the till. Surely with this major and catastrophic failure by the so-called Honourable Minister Senator Wong, the people will be able to see through the veil and into the absolute and irresponsible lack of care at the heart of this deceitful Labor government.
