It is an honor for me to be in... the Republic of South Africa today on my first visit. This morning, our country endured another Russian attack — a massive one, with over 200 aerial threats: missiles, including ballistic ones, and attack drones. Unfortunately, there have been destructions and losses in our capital and other cities. Over 80 people have been wounded in these strikes. Tragically, there are fatalities. In Kyiv, among those killed were a brother and sister — the young man was 21, and the young woman was 19. My condolences to all those who have lost their loved ones. Rescue operations are still ongoing. Because of this Russian attack, I have decided to shorten the program of my visit to South Africa; however, our Minister for Foreign Affairs remains here — as a sign of our respect and to carry out all the meetings that were scheduled. We are grateful for the respect shown to Ukraine, for the support, and for the shared sense — the sense that this war must be brought to an end as soon as possible. Today, President Cyril Ramaphosa 🇿🇦 and I discussed the importance of uniting global efforts as fully as possible now to apply the necessary pressure on Russia — pressure for the sake of peace. Bailey and Carl are both at the vets. Carl... is at the local vet with parvo, but we caught the symptoms very early and had him placed on IV immediately. He's eaten by himself for the first time today, so we're hoping he's turned a corner 🤞🏻 The vet said he should stay there until Tuesday to make sure he's on the mend 🙏🏻 Bailey had to be taken to the South with suspected distemper and quarantined 😞 He was also placed on IV straight away and seems to be doing OK, but he needs a few more days monitoring before they can give a verdict. We're being updated daily on his progress. It has thrown the whole Northern Hemisphere weather off-kilter. That means cool-dry weather this weekend for North-Central Florida about a month early! It also means hurricane killing wind shear across the Atlantic Basin! Here's the science: Warm air is being forced all the way up to the Arctic circle by an elongated jet stream. That will cause an "Omega block" to form this weekend over Central Canada - you can see the Greek Omega shape with cold air on either side. These "blocking" patterns are very tough to dislodge. Kīlauea Eruption Episode 46 Update May 5, 2026, 5:30... pm HST Episode 46 of lava fountaining in Halemaʻumaʻu at the summit of Kīlauea began at 8:17 am HST on May 5 and ended about 9 hours later at 5:22 pm HST. With the reduced ground and aviation hazards due to the lava fountaining episode ending, the USGS is dropping the Volcano Alert Level from WATCH to ADVISORY and the Aviation Color Code from ORANGE to YELLOW. We’ll share more details about this eruptive episode in our next post. Kīlauea has been erupting episodically since December 23, 2024, from two vents (north and south) in Halema‘uma‘u, in Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park. Who remember Pastor Taiwo Odukoya? A man I never... met one-on-one but was responsible for my life transformation. He lost his first wife, Pastor Bimbo Odukoya, to Sosoliso plane crash that happened in 2005. 60 Loyola Jesuit secondary school students also died in that crash. 110 passengers were on board with 109 losing their lives. Only 1 survivors who is still alive today. It was the deadliest crash ever in Nigeria history, It was a sad day for our nation. Pastor Taiwo Odukoya remarried in 2010. 5 years after the demise of his first wife, Pastor Bimbo. He married Rosemary Lulu, South African Pastor. Pastor Rosemary later died of cancer on 9th November 2021, r 16yrs after Pastor Taiwo first wife passed on. On the 30th of December, 2021, he lost his twin Sister Mrs Kehinde Hassan (Née Odukoya). These events left him devastated and he eventually developed some ailments which lasted for some months before he was flown to the United State for medical attention. He eventually gave up the ghost in August, 2023, His church, Fountain of life church, Ilupeju is today Pastored by his first son, Jimmy Odukoya and his daughter, Tolu Odukoya.
