#24YEARSOFKARGILWAR … #TIGERHILL 04 Jul 99…The Pakis had prepared formidable defences on Tiger Hill Top and provided it depth by occupying all the Spurs leading to top. Despite having suffered so many casualties in Tololing,the morale of my men was sky high... Beside enemy fire,our valiant soldiers had to negotiate the steep slopes of boulder strewn mountains, hostile weather, icy winds, pouring rain and sleet, slippery slopes and poor visibility for long hours.However, armed with self belief, profound faith of our cause and feeling of vengeance for our martyr fellow soldiers, our fearless soldiers inched their way up the top displaying nerves of steel and utter disregard for their personal safety. It was a multdirectional attack and Ghatak Platoon under Lt Balwan Singh assaulted Tiger Hill through most difficult and unexpected approach with a very steep gradient with the help of ropes and mountaineering equipment and that took enemy by surprise. As the Ghataks reached on Top, it was hand to hand fight, during the fight an enemy machine gun opened fire injuring Lt Balwan Singh and two soldiers. One of the injured soldier was 19 year old Grenadier Yogendra singh yadav (Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav Param Vir Chakra) who in complete disregard of his injuries,charged forward towards the machine gun bunker,lobbed a grenade and fired his weapon killing four enemy soldiers and silencing the machine gun.He then continued engaging the enemy and refused medical evacuation. This brave act further motivated other members of Ghatak Platoon and they were than able to establish foothold on Top forcing enemy to retreat to reverse slopes. The bravery and tenacity with which the men fought and gave the supreme sacrifice of their lives on my orders, I certainly could have not asked for any bit more as they were right in front and took bullets on their chest. It is here i strongly feel that the camaraderie, regimental spirit and above all the love for our motherland that motivates us during such nerve wrecking trying times. The enemy kept on sending reinforcements and counter attack force along Western Spur but Ghatak Platoon held on to Top. For this act of most conspicuous gallantry Grenadier Yogendra Singh Yadav was awarded the Param Vir Chakra and Lt.Balwan Singh was awarded Maha Vir Chakra.Capt Sachin Nimbalkar awarded Vir Chakra and Hav Madam lal awarded Vir Chakra posthumously. The capture of Tiger Hill (Pic 4)proved to be a major turning point which hastened Pak Army's defeat and amost ended Kargil War. THIS. IS. VERY. POWERFUL. Meet an IDF commander. He leads an elite commando unit. He led the battle against close to 100 terrorists in Kibbutz Kisufim on October 7, 2023. He and his soldiers then fought against Hamas terrorists throughout Gaza. At a later point he and his commandos were sent to Lebanon where they fought and killed Hezbollah terrorists. He was injured in Lebanon. But he worked hard to recover quickly and returned to lead his soldiers in Gaza. In fact, he helped lead the IDF effort to locate hostages. He got married this week. And at the end of the wedding ceremony, right before breaking the glass to remember the destruction of the Temple, he recited the names of his soldiers and a close friend who were killed during the war. Meet Havildar Digendra Kumar MVC – “The Cobra of Tololing” He is one of the most decorated soldiers of the 2 Raj Rif and a living legend of the 1999 Kargil War Awarded the Maha Vir Chakra -India’s second‑highest wartime gallantry decoration - he is widely remembered as the “Cobra of Tololing” for his role in capturing the strategically vital Tololing heights. Born:3 July 1969, Neem Ka Thana, Rajasthan Awards: Maha Vir Chakra – 15 August 1999 Sena Medal – 1993 (counter‑terror operations in Kupwara) Retired:31 July 2005. From IPKF to Hazratbal Digendra Kumar joined the Army in 1985and quickly built a reputation as a fearless commando: IPKF, Sri Lanka (late 1980s): Engaged in high‑risk jungle operations against LTTE militants- shooting down insurgents, destroying ammunition dumps, and rescuing captured paratroopers. Kupwara: Conducted intense counter‑terror operations and was awarded the Sena Medal for conspicuous gallantry. ❗️A captured Russian marine confessed to the execution of a Ukrainian prisoner of war in the Kursk region of Russia. According to a soldier of the 810th Marine Brigade, the murder took place on December 21, 2024. He said that the Russian army took two Ukrainian soldiers prisoner. One was severely wounded in the leg, and another one was tied to a tree by a marine and then taken "for evacuation." Upon his return, he received an order to shoot the wounded POW. "I contacted my commander of the 2nd platoon, call sign "Gryuza." He gave me an order to shoot the serviceman who had shrapnel in his leg. After that, I shot the serviceman," the captured Russian soldier said. Executing Ukrainian prisoners of war has become more and more frequent. Needless to say that this is a gross violation of the Geneva convention, a horrible example of Russian inhumanity and overall a terrible crime.

He just wanted to get back to serving with his mates. 🇬🇧 In 2013, Lance Corporal Josh Leakey of the 1st Battalion, The Parachute Regiment was awarded the Victoria Cross for extraordinary bravery during a fierce battle in Afghanistan. Under intense Taliban fire, he repeatedly exposed himself to enemy fire to rescue a wounded US Marine officer, man machine guns, and rally his comrades. His actions were credited with turning the tide of the battle and helping British and coalition forces regain the upper hand. Josh became just the 15th recipient of the Victoria Cross since the end of the Second World War. Remarkably, his distant cousin, Nigel Leakey, had also been awarded the Victoria Cross during the Second World War. Despite receiving Britain's highest award for gallantry, Josh remained remarkably humble. Speaking after the announcement, he said he simply wanted to return to his battalion and carry on serving alongside his mates. A true British soldier whose actions spoke louder than words. 🇬🇧
