3D printing PCB ,looks interesting , but the high printer costs make it less cost-effective when compared to traditional PCB manufacturing. #electronics #pcbassembly

Hi Rita, I recognized that circuit: that's a short from an atomic14 (@MrBananas ) video from about a year ago, where he discusses things in more detail: A link/some attribution might have been cool there.

I have worked with one of those machines and the reliability is garbage. The printing paste needs to be held in a cooling cabinet and as soon as the temperature rises the paste becomes runny and can no longer make nice tracks

Prototyping alone makes it worth it if you are focused on R&D

in the prototype stage, many design tweaks and iterations often need to be handled, 3D printing is also an option.

This + solder mask, such that you can stack layers up with buried vias, would be a compelling prototyping system. But yes, traditional pcb fab will always be more precise, cheaper, and higher volume.

single sided, gigantic minimal feature size i can do this on my 3 axis toy cnc show me something done with this tech I can't do with my cnc by engraving

I am a professional PCB designer and a hobbyist 3d printing individual. I became obsessed with the idea of using 3d printing to make electronics for a while. Studied all the different categories of printing circuits to find the most viable for real world manufacturing. It is still a young market, but some of the technologies available are very impressive, and there are things you can do with 3d printed circuits that you just can't do on the traditional manufacturing. Traditional pcbs will hold the high reliability flag for a long time though, because there is decades of research and refining that process to perform in hostile environments. Feel free to hit me up if you ever want to learn about it in more detail.

That's sick. It'd be awesome if they get affordable.

I've seen these...crappy construction--traditional is way better...

Seems really good for smaller scale and prototyping. Like 3d printing now vs injection molding.
