A game developer with 13 years of experience says he used Claude Code to build his own 3D asset pipeline. Describe an asset → Python drives Blender in the background → export a .glb with rigs, animations and collision geometry. Claude helped build the generation scripts, local API and... show more

13 years of experience plus claude is a dangerous combo, id ship them if the quality is there

13 years of game-dev scar tissue does help with the quality bar lol

that’s a serious workflow upgrade. the interesting part isn’t just generating assets, it’s making the whole pipeline repeatable from a description to a rigged, exportable file

yep, repeatability is the upgrade. one prompt, usable game-ready output lol

Now Astra can directly integrate assets into 2D games. How long until it will master 3D?

2D first, 3D next—just need to teach it what “game-ready” means lol

Astra can do pretty impressive things in 3D as well. I've coded FPS game also (but used Mixamo characters).

That looks really good for a Claude blender Mike doesn’t look that good

lol, Mike’s model quality is still very much a work in progress

is it opensource? if so where is it?

not open source right now, but I’m figuring out what I can share.

Keeping them for prototyping until mesh topology gets much cleaner

topology is still the part that needs the most babysitting lol

using AI to bridge technical pipelines is brilliant, but human refinement keeps production value high!

yep, AI builds the pipeline, human taste keeps it shippable lol

i ship physical goods so our dear agentic orchestrators have something outside the terminal .

someone has to ship the containers the containers run in lol

If the quality is there, why not ship them?

that’s the plan once the pipeline’s reliable enough lol

Showing the cost next to every version is brave. I'd stop at version 3 and say the truck is done.

version 3 truck, version 4 invoice lol

Rigs and animations coming out of a background Blender run is the part I would want to see. Static meshes are easy, clean skeletons usually are not.

that’s the hard part—clean weights and usable animation data, not just exporting glb.

thats wild claude code just scripting blender like that for a full 3d pipeline

yep, the fun part is making the outputs actually usable lol

想看看自动绑骨骼之后,动画跑起来会不会穿模
