A major problem facing U.S. Hispanics is that we do not conceptualize our corner of the country—El Norte—as a living, breathing region with a shared history, common identity, and collective destiny. Without this sense of place, we fracture culturally dividing ourselves into competing identities that prevent any meaningful political... show more

The number of Latinos in the United States that descent from that region is less than 6% majority of Latinos in the US are post 66 migration

The number of whites that descend from the pilgrims is like 10 of yall

shut up nigger

@El_Xico99 Cooked your ellis islander ass😭

@El_Xico99 when crusty old, cowardly nagger, loving baby boomers die it’s gonna be a breath of freedom for the rest of us like we haven’t felt in 100 years

bro it's St. Augustine and you know this

Idc about Florida. This is about the Southwest

I agree with everything you said but their is a reason John Wayne was so popular and old westerns were so heavily pushed. They are trying to claim that culture as their own when it never was. The Spanish were here hundreds of years before them. Look at the Dallas “Cowboys”

Western culture is Norteno culture but in English

My family came to CA with Anza in 1775. They were Spanish. Up until my grandparents’ generation they did not call themselves Hispanic, Latino, Chicano or Mexican.

At our core we are Spanish, everything else is a cope

Just water the plants Jose

A major problem facing us Hispanics is that we are not having enough trans girlfriends

Facts man

Addressing all U.S. Hispanics is kinda broad. Mexicans are the dominant sub group with the longest intwined-with-America history. But an American with say Salvadoran, Colombian or Peruvian heritage would not identify with the above and are forging paths in other regions.

Yeah they will have to assimilate into this identity or into the miamissphere if they wanna preserve their hispanicity.

I am of these people I’m a californio my ancestors were cryptic Jews from Spain who for some reason all went to the south west and married Indians mine married a quechen or Yuma Indian in my profile picture and their child is the first Mexican in my family

You should focus on the 32 countries in Latin America which is going through a depopulation crisis. You all flee to other countries so much that no one is left where you came from.

Correction The capital of the Rio grande or the republic of grande was Laredo not San Antonio

My family has been in Northern New Mexico since July 1598.

My homeland definitely feels more European when you actually go into the old towns of New Mexico

Wym European

Wrong choice of words. I would rather say old world.

Still doesn’t explain why Mexicans can’t drive

What a bunch of nonsense writing.

I’m proud our Anglo-Saxons dominated the Mexican army so completely it was a 2-year war and we beat them all the way down to Mexico City and then bought the Western US from Mexico because they had no ability to keep it. In 1848, it all became property of the Anglo-Saxon.

Presidio of San Francisco was founded in 1776

El Camino Real >>>

Oh boy!

Great job!!! 👏👏👏

I broadly agree with the sentiment, that a consolidation of a Latino American identity would be broadly beneficial Interesting dichotomy, east coast Latinos feel the baseline for a national Latino identity will be centered on Puerto Rico Mormons&Utah = Latinos&PR 🇵🇷 Statehood

I don’t understand what your trying to say here? Utah? Puerto Rico? What’s the connection

Those 4 states 4/8 Senators Latino 35/110 congress Latino Those numbers aren't small, but they aren't the dominant force in the heavily Latino states you point to UT has a dominant presence of Mormons in politics and business PR would be an equivalent that dynamic with Latinos

This implicates the demographic replacement of real Puerto Ricans and a destruction culture to be replaced with a pan ethnic shallow consumerist identity

Arizona is the root of this country. James Polk knew it, that's why he invaded old Mexico. Jefferson Davis knew it, that's why his CSA captured Tucson (one of the few areas conquered by the CSA), and why AZ was created at Mesilla in 1861. Plymouth rock can KMA.

This is correct about a lot but he is wrong about San Francisco, which is named after an Italian Saint.

Very well said brother 👍

How do you know these maps are correct??

@Based_Taco_ This video is so stupid. It assumes hispanos are still majority when they aren’t. Southern Mexican shave outnumbered hispanos substantially by this point and the culture has changed.

The Icelandic Vikings came to Newfoundland in 1000 A.D. , nearly 500 years before Columbus.

Spain was a kingdom & people were mere subjects under its divine rule. Today, it’s a communist shit hole. You’re welcome to go back. When US took control of the territories our federal government assigned land patents to the people occupying the land. They became human.

I’m a little confused, why do you call the sunbelt states el Norte? Btw, I live in SATX, I am Hispanic as well. I moved from the PNW to the South of Texas! 😅No hay nada como Los breakfast tacos!

True. Online, things as simple as saying "America" gets you shot down. Divided even in a dozen variance of beige skin tones.

Meheeco

Besides, be next to fucking Mexico makes them never forget Spanish and Mexican culture way one or the other.

Way to Manifest that Destiny!😉😂

What do you think all the ex colonies were like in Latin America after the Spanish Empire collapsed? They all had to work out new borders, some of them fought each other. There is nothing unique about the history of the US/Mexico border. Mexico was Spain’s colony. Spain did all the work. They conquered and slaughtered the natives. They weren’t the good guys when it comes to the history of the Americas. Also people from all over Europe and the world settled in the Spanish Empire in the Americas, they weren’t all Spaniards. So the US, Mexico and other ex colonies had similar histories with diverse immigrants living in these new countries.
