This marks the first phase of our plan to generate 100 megawatts, with 30 megawatts set to provide uninterrupted electricity to Abeokuta. Following the Federal Government’s removal of power generation, distribution, and transmission from the exclusive legislative list, Ogun State has not only passed the necessary laws but has also begun implementing this critical initiative.

The ongoing construction of the 100.5km Obelle–Ilaro–Papalanto–Sagamu Road in Ogun State is progressing steadily. This vital infrastructure project is being executed by the Dangote Group under the Federal Government’s Tax Credit Scheme, and our administration played a significant role in ensuring that this project became a reality for the overall benefit of the good people of Ogun State and other road users. About ten months ago, Alhaji Aliko Dangote and I paid an inspection visit to this strategic corridor, which holds immense significance for Ogun State and Nigeria at large. When completed, it will provide a seamless alternative route for commuters from Sango, Iyana Ipaja, and Itori, eliminating the need to use the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway or pass through Abeokuta to access the Sagamu Interchange.

The substation went up in flames in 2021, subjecting residents to power outages. Tshwane mayor Dr Nasiphi Moya visited the construction site today and announced that the rebuilding of the substation has now been completed. - This project is a PPP project between the Imo State Government and the Egyptian energy company Madkour Group - The substation is owned by Orashi Electrical Company Limited, formed in 2024 - The Orashi substation is located in New Owerri and is the pilot initiative for "Light Up Imo" which is supposed to bring power to all 27 Local Governments in Imo State - It reduces reliance on the national grid and allows Imo State to be energy independent and sufficient - it paves the way for 24/7 power to be established in Imo, leveraging its gas supply. Kudos to Governor Hope Uzodimma Hope Uzodimma for this initiative. We hope other Eastern Governors will copy Imo and Abia to electrify the region.

Gao Junction Ibiade Road is nearing completion in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area as the Ogun State Government confirms significant progress on the project. Governor Dapo Abiodun explained that the reconstruction was initiated to address the long-standing challenges faced by motorists and residents along the route, particularly around the Igele Bridge area which had for years slowed movement and affected economic activities. According to the governor, the road project has been substantially completed, with lane markings remaining as the final stage before full completion. Once finished, the road will improve connectivity between communities in Ogun Waterside, support the transportation of agricultural produce, and provide easier access to nearby towns and markets. He added that the Gao Junction Ibiade Road project reflects the administration’s commitment to expanding infrastructure across all parts of the state while boosting economic growth and improving the lives of residents. Phase 2 will deliver 7 upgraded existing power lines and 10 new ones, covering 544 Km and capable of carrying 7,140MW of power.
