Struggling to create the level of quality of 3D modeling some of the OAI employees and early accessers are posting with GPT 6 Astra It is OK, but one-shot performance is not mind-blowing like some people were claiming Do the better runs use Blender MCP? Or sth else? I prompted it to put it on a website the first time. On the second time, I prompted it to use purely blender, in a new session. It still ended up putting it on a website, with similar performance Space: === prompt: use blender to create a realistic exposition of the internation space station, orbiting earth, in an as realistic way as possible should give a tour of the space station, show insides, cross sections, different modules, what everything does, including humans that work on stuff, maybe docking shuttles and stuff, its phases through time, in a nice and cinematic way, that also feels like sims or some game should eventually be put on a static hugging face space, a website in typescript inspiration should be one of those books from star wars the phantom menace where you could see to the inside of the spaceship and such should be interactive and playable and fun not sure whether blender is needed, as long as you can put it on a website, anything works

The interesting part about GPT in CAD is not that it can make a shape. It is that through MCP, GPT can work directly inside Onshape and turn a plain-English description into actual CAD geometry you can keep editing. In this case, the model builds a radial mechanical part with a central hub, repeated ribs, an outer ring, and a full pattern of mounting holes, all inside the real Onshape document. There is no fake “3D-looking” render hiding the hard part. The geometry exists in the CAD workspace, can be rotated, inspected, modified, and used as the starting point for the next iteration. That changes the workflow from manually clicking through every feature to describing the structure, letting GPT build the first pass, then correcting what matters. Once MCP gets reliable enough, the boring part of CAD starts looking less like modeling and more like supervising.

The user asks for a better horn, Kimi edits the same scene, and the character starts moving. This is not another AI tool generating one lucky image. It is working with an actual editable 3D project, then changing the geometry after feedback instead of restarting from zero. This is much worse for 3D artists than another AI image generator. Claude takes one architectural reference, connects directly to Blender, and starts rebuilding it as an actual editable scene. It blocks out the buildings, matches the camera, adds materials, vegetation, lighting, and then renders the result. The interesting part is not the first generation. Claude inspects its own render, notices the composition and lighting are wrong, then goes back into Blender and keeps changing the scene. The final result is still rough. The materials look basic, the geometry needs cleanup, and an experienced artist would make it far better. But AI is no longer producing a flat image and pretending it understands 3D. It is operating the software, judging its own work, and iterating inside the real project. The “AI cannot do their actual work” argument is getting harder to defend.

The structure is coherent. The volumes are credible. It's fully navigable, walk through it like any 3D scene. Still a few inconsistencies, mostly around the windows, but at the rate this is improving, that specific class of flaw won't last long.

I had an early access to GPT-6 Astra and I can say, everyone in the world now has a 3D designer at their fingertips. I gave it an image of a house and asked to create it in 3D with all the details including toys, appliances and furniture. This a full 3D model reconstruction in Blender with geometry that you can manually tweak and run 60fps as a locally rendered "game" on device.

With just a quick look into some basic physics and logistics of putting a data center in space, the idea becomes comical. First, you have to put massive amounts of hardware, cooling systems, and power into space. Then you have to completely reengineer the data center for space. Then you have to think about maintenance. Oh, and cooling these things down in a vacuum is no easy task. Full Video: #datacenter #space

What is really useful is how GPT-6 Astra got better in spatial understanding. I'm still shocked how good it navigates 3D space. Here I gave it Blender MCP and Tripo P2.0 to generate optimized 3D models and put them together, rig and animate. Result is freaking awesome! Doing 3D objects procedurally with Astra is fun, but quality is not compared with what 3D Gen can do. Like you don't ask GPT to draw image with pen when there is GPT Image, same here. And token cost also speaks for it, 3D gen simply cheaper. But the way it assemble thing together, characters and scene, that is shocking ngl. And rigging of course, I have so much hope on it, it is most annoying part of 3d for me lol

Top is Luna 5.6 in fast mode modeling ship cannons with a firing animation. Watching the scene grow mesh by mesh in real time is a separate kind of dopamine. img2threejs 1.5.1 is out 🚀 Checkout: This release introduces a new approach to image → 3D → Three.js. Image → Tripo → img2threejs → reconstructed geometry → Three.js Instead of using the generated 3D model as the final asset, img2threejs uses it as a reference to rebuild the character into a representation that can be generated and rendered directly in Three.js. No Blender workflow, and no GLB required as the final output. The animation in the demo is still a bit rough because this release is focused on reconstruction, not animation. I’ll be improving that in the next release. Still experimental, but this is a big step toward where I want img2threejs to go.
