we're rolling out @cursor_ai 0.46 your feedback has been loud and clear. we have made agent default, unified chat and composer to a single interface and gave the ui a glow up other changes include MCP yolo mode, mcp.json, global rules, agent web search and many more fixes and improvements↓

new composer with three modes: - Ask: get answers about your codebase, just as with chat - Edit: makes changes to the current files, no tool access - Agent: access to tools, mcp and internet to make cross file changes you can shortcut between the three using cmd+.

MCP can now be configured with .cursor/mcp.json and it will follow existing yolo mode settings (so you don't have to approve every call). lots of bug fixes and general improvements shipped here

you can now make rules global. here's an example of a review workflow defined with a rule

Cool stuff - I think that we really need to have a better way of filling the gap from the knowledge cut off date to today for changes to sdks. Access to internet works but is sub-optimal. One way that might make it easier is for all libraries/frameworks to just have an LLM endpoint for their docs (with versions) that's just a giant markdown file. But I wonder if there is an opportunity for cursor to come in and create some sort of supported partners space that you can then easily plug into model context that becomes the standard so more devs are incentivized to publish docs to. Example I need to use Tailwind 4 So I go and add it from the list of sources (appears as a secondary tab option when you hit plus to add files) Now the model has the latest docs in its context It would also help with older libraries whose code has too many legacy examples the model was trained on so you get annoying stuff like require (commonjs) instead of import (es modules) in your code, but if you actively point to the latest sdk that problem is mitigated.

@tailwindcss why is this not in ask mode as well? i dont use agentic mode because i want to approve all changes but the internet search feature would be amazing.
