Mark Carney has now made it obvious: Ottawa will use the Clarity Act as a gatekeeping tool against Alberta independence. Quebec responded to the Clarity Act with Bill 99, a law asserting Quebec’s right to self-determination, defending the authority of its National Assembly, and recognizing that a referendum is decided by a majority of valid votes cast. Alberta needs its own Bill 99. The future of Alberta should be decided by Albertans, not by the House of Commons.

Let’s get one thing straight: Alberta does not “fund B.C.” — and B.C. isn’t some poor, helpless province clinging to Alberta’s wallet. They’ve got a booming economy, fat revenue streams, and oh yeah… a massive pipeline that everyone is lining up to applaud. Good for them. Seriously. Build it. Grow your economy. That’s what every province should be allowed to do. But here’s the part that magically gets ignored: If B.C. can build a pipeline and cash in, why does Alberta instantly get cast as the national villain for wanting to do the exact same thing? Why is resource development “visionary” for one province but “evil” when Alberta touches it? This isn’t about handouts. It’s not about who “deserves” more. It’s about the basic concept of fairness — you know, that thing Ottawa loves to preach but rarely practices. Alberta is done being told to sit quietly in the corner while other provinces run the same playbook and get showered with praise. If fairness actually means something in this country, it can’t magically stop at the B.C. border. Alberta has every right to build, grow, and protect its economy. And Alberta is CLEARLY done apologizing for it.
