As the referendum lead, my message is clear. The status quo needs to change. For the past 10 years this federal Liberal government has introduced policies that have slowed down Alberta’s economy, prevented pipeline projects and undermined our province. I believe in a strong Alberta within a united Canada. In the coming months, with my new role as referendum lead, I will listen to the concerns of Albertans and ensure that we can address the root causes of western alienation and fight for a stronger Alberta within a united Canada. I am proud to be an Albertan and a Canadian. I will continue to call on Mark Carney’s Liberal Government to listen to Albertans and to take the necessary steps to unite our country and strengthen our province. It’s time to act.

A partial government shutdown centered on the Department of Homeland Security began Saturday amid a stalemate over the Trump administration's controversial immigration enforcement policies. It's the second time in as many weeks that funding has lapsed for part of the government as Democrats and the White House remain at odds on restraints for federal immigration agents. DHS oversees Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection, whose conduct has been increasingly scrutinized since federal agents fatally shot Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minnesota. Though the impasse has revolved around immigration enforcement, the shutdown will impact other agencies under DHS' umbrella, including the Transportation Security Administration, the Coast Guard and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

I will continue to call out the NDP when they offer only outrage instead of working to right the wrongs of Ottawa these past 10 years, and I will keep standing up for Albertans who are rightly frustrated with the deal this province has received for far too long. We are turning the tide for our province and country. Let’s keep it up.

It is not unreasonable for Alberta to demand fairness from Ottawa. They have shown time and again that they will put ideology before practicality, which hurts Alberta families and our economy. We’re not going to apologize for continuing to stand up for Albertans so we get the best deal possible. Since Ottawa refuses to acknowledge their overreach and its negative impacts, even after losing battles at the Federal and Supreme Courts, we are putting in additional measures to protect our provincial jurisdiction to ensure our province receives our fair share of federal tax dollars and that those dollars are spent on the priorities of Albertans. During the interview, the questioner asked Bianco: “You were also talking about how some of your policies toward immigration would also help protect some of these immigrant communities here.” Bianco responded with criticism of the federal government (aka President Trump’s immigration policies): “We have to get to the reality to realize that we must fix our immigration system and that has nothing to do with California. The federal government has to fix the immigration system.” Bianco is no stranger to making pro-open borders comments that sound nearly identical to the policies of Democrat California Governor Gavin Newsom. As Riverside County Sheriff, last month, Bianco stated that his department would NOT be working with ICE U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to enforce the Trump administration’s immigration policies. It’s clear that Bianco is nothing more than Gavin Newsom with a fake R next to his name. Steve Hilton Steve Hilton is right. Bianco needs to drop out of the race, immediately!
