A large “oval” like outer track with what looks like a smaller oval track is definitely taking shape, and of course there will be support structures and more added as this project continues to make progress. Overall, the amount of construction around the Giga Texas project is approaching the original effort to make the main factory almost 6 years ago! It’s hard to keep track of it all, but I’m trying! Such an amazing story that has been, & continues to happen here just east of Austin!

How much construction is underway at Gig Texas? A lot more than most seem to realize so I thought I’d share this higher altitude flyover to help out much of it into context. This covers about 40-45% of the total land area and there is some additional construction just visible well off the the west of this flyover (the far right of the frame). I hope this is helpful and oh … lets you know where a substantial amount of all that CAPEX that everyone seems worried about is going. This is what everyone will be talking about in 2028 … all under construction right now.

Big news at the new Optimus 10m/y factory construction site today! The 1st steel structure has been erected & as expected the second phase of land reclamation is underway. This will allow this new factory to grow to nearly the same length as the main Giga Texas factory, although it will be a few hundred feet (~50 - 70 m) narrower. If you did not realize the massive size of this new factory, this should tell you all you need to know! A lot of steel beams & columns were being delivered to the site today and using the new staging yard in the nearby “lone tree” field. Check out this short clip showing the expansion, the steel structure & more of the foundation work!

On the south end of what I think may be phase 1 of the construction, the large depressed graded area has had about .5 to 1 meters of gravel and crushed concrete added and now GeoPier equipment is at work. On the middle section, dense footings of two primary types are being constructed, suggesting heave loading of the structure in this area. On the north end, it’s mainly flat grade with little footing work so far. I say I *think* this might be a two phase construction project because the north perimeter grade beam is laid out as if it is the final configuration, but the south end is not. There is a large field south of this area that, with reclamation work, could support a doubling of the structure, if that was desired.

Cybercab production over the past week or so has been noticeably very low, but today, we are seeing more starting to line up on the W side of the EOL at Giga Texas, but this time, many with the “Cybercab” logos on the doors and the hatches. Not sure if this indicates anything of note, but is worth keeping an eye on! I know there is a lot of interesting details in how and when these will begin to be part of the Tesla Robotaxi fleet & service, but I think we still have some time to go until that happens, but I hope its soon-ish!

My first drone flight over the location of what will be the most advanced chip fabrication plant & largest building in the world … and surprise, just like the Giga Texas announcement, construction is already underway! The approach is similar to what we saw with the main factory building when it began construction. Grade preparation & old sand & gravel mine reclamation work, while GeoPiers put in piers to support footings & then steel erection beginning int eh center part of the structure, then proceeding to the N & then S as the structure assembly progresses. Tesla construction uses an agile & Minimum Essential Capability (MEC) approach which means we are likely to see portions of the factory be completed more quickly than other portions to allow the start of equipment installation & initial testing before the rest of the structure is completed. I also think we are seeing this in two main parts … the first where the structure is rising now & the second, further south where ground reclamation work is still needed before grade preparation can begin. Again, this is very reminiscent of how the main factory was constructed in 2020 through 2022.
