Anthropic CEO: “software engineering will be FULLY automated in 12 months” software engineers are cooked.

He says we’re 12 months away every 12 months.

Me in 2026, spending 12 hours debugging a recursive loop that an Al wrote in 3 seconds

Why don’t Anthropic just use Claude Code 🤷🏻♂️

Meanwhile on LinkedIn

bro says this every fucking year

Meanwhile, Claude:

And someone is out they learning HTML 😭😭😹

software engineering won’t be fully automated. there’s creativity and nuance in problem-solving that machines can’t replicate yet.

Can't hear this blabla anymore

Look, every CEO says twelve months like it's a warranty. I don't know what to tell ya, the repo still ain't debugging itself.

4 month old clip btw lol

Can someone ask a proper date to these CEOs.. is it 9th April 2027? Should we lock that? okay maybe anytime in April 2027? if you are wrong 6 months of free claude code to everyone or you never utter this prediction again?

for sure this time 🤗

Don’t buy this horseshit Take a leap and attempt using these new ai tools . Try a api config and countless gateway restarts While there are big advances there are still huge challenges that humans have to dig into Having used these tools for a year or so they are slick and clever. But you will never not need someone that can actually read the book with eyes

Nah, coders are “cooked”, but software engineers will still have demand, there will just be fewer and more experienced guys.

People have been saying this for two years. The models just raised the abstraction layer. We used to manage memory allocation, now we manage 1M token context windows:

Yes, this is being said every few weeks before a model release. And then cycle repeats

Dude has been reposting this every 12 months

I can’t count how many times I’ve seen this. Anyway, the direction is right.

AI will replace all programmers tomorrow. If it didn't happen, read this again

Fully automated software is just a faster way to generate high speed digital slop. If no human is in the loop to verify the logic. you aren't building a product. You are building a liability. The engineer who can actually audit the truth is the only one with real power.

he says this every 6 months, is he locked in a loop?

Hasn't he already said that couple of times already? Also automated how? Like LLM is going to come up with an idea, implementation plan, then implement everything and go and sell it? I doubt it will be able to come up to with a solution to a complex problem without proper guidance from an SWE.

12 seconds 12 minutes 12 months 12 years casually waiting for the AI apocalypse

bold claim. i'll check back in 12 months while i'm still babysitting my AI-generated code in prod

Yeah, and why they are not using they magicall solution then?

the engineers who believe this are already building with it & the ones who don't are the ones who should be worried

Why’s he hiring then?

Feels more like hype to scare people and accelerate adoption than reality. Engineers aren’t “cooked”, the role is just evolving.

Does anyone vibe coding actually vibe coding fully automated? I mean I tried giving an ai shitload of tasks and be like do this. I get shit on a stick. Now im really one task at a time test adjust

hedge the inevitable with layoff coin on the solana blockchain @LayoffAI

And again his company is hiring SDE for $300k..

Didn’t he say that 12 months ago?

What do I do @grok 😭😭

“fully automated in 12 months” feels more like a provocation than a prediction. AI will compress a lot of coding work, no doubt. But software engineering isn’t just writing code. It’s judgment, trade-offs, system design, and understanding messy real-world constraints. Engineers who only write code are at risk. Engineers who understand systems, security, and context become more valuable.
