Apple CarPlay is not disappearing. Manufacturers are attempting to make it subscription based. It’s a cash grab.

My car is infotainment screen is both Apple and Android it just depends on what phone you have but at least I do not have to deal with the Internet and subscriptions

Those car makers want customers pay for map updates every year. That’s why they don’t want Apple Carplay.

My f150 requires $80/yr subscription for the map to work. CarPlay costs me nothing (ford still supports CarPlay).

I want new cars with no screens, three knobs for HVAC and two for the audio system. Looking over at the dashboard and screwing around with the menus in new cars is distracting and unintuitive compared to just reaching for a knob.
