Apple just announced Apple Upgrade, a new program that lets you lease an iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple Watch. Details in the video below. For some reason, leasing a laptop feels so much weirder to me than leasing a phone but I bet a lot of people will do it.

You don’t really lose anything. You’re not paying any interest penalty, and they mail you the box to send the old one back in every year.” “I think it’s just a way for Apple to sort of kneecap the number of people who are buying their iPhones with credit cards and paying interest penalties over time. Elon Musk: Apple and Google shouldn't have a heavy hand in their app stores. “Man, I sure hope we don't have to make a phone. That's a lot of work. The idea of making a phone makes me want to die. But if we have to make a phone, we will, but we will aspire not to make a phone. You know, I do think that the various companies, Apple and Google, Android and whatnot, they need to make sure they don't have a heavy hand in the app store, or they will create a forcing function for there to be a competitor. But man, I dread the idea of making a phone. But if that turns out to be necessary, we'll do it, but hopefully it is not necessary.” Town Hall in Philadelphia, October 18, 2024

BREAKING: Conservative commentator Glenn Beck has reportedly been banned from Apple/iTunes without any explanation. First I must say, I completely disagree with so much of what Glenn Beck has to say, and I think a lot of his politics are absurd. With that said, if Beck has actually been banned merely for voicing his free speech, I think it’s wrong of Apple to do. It will be interesting to see what reason Apple gives for this banning, or if it was done by mistake. I am unaware of any recent major controversy, or hateful over-the-top message that Beck has spread over the airwaves. What are your thoughts? Do you support Glenn Beck’s free speech or do you believe that for some reason Apple should ban his podcast?
