High risk for injuring a lumbar disc so should be avoided in non professional athletes

Nope. Best training is with your own weight.

Give it a miss. They are a back injury waiting to happen. Especially for a lanky "specimen" like you!😜😂💥👍

Pilates is the way to go for all round strength and flexibility if you’re not a pro athlete. You can pilaty with some light dumbbells to increase muscle gains💪

They’re great but I thinks squats take this one

1000 percent yes. Deadlifts & squats, in a pragmatic cycle, will always equal gains.

Deadlifts are the dumbest exercise that rugby players have done. Literally so many better options.

Might not be ultimate, but certainly very good.

Only my experience but regular deadlift really helped my lower back pain. When I first started it was agony, but the muscle around the spine has made such a difference

Weighted pull-ups are better. They keep you honest. I see way too many unfit men with beer bellies attempting deadlifts, but can't even lift their own bodyweight. Pathetic.

Nope. If you’re a powerlifter and your sole goal is to increase your deadlift, yes. Can’t think of another reason to do them. Risk V reward just isn’t there. Speaking as someone that pulled 3X body weight.

I can barely put my socks on, never mind deadlift a feather. Guess it’s time to fix this. I’ll put it on the goals list for 2026 to deadlift or curl more than a chicken bone. Desk jobs suck. Any advice on a basic routine to get started?
