Been testing different lockpicking minigames, which one do you prefer? Lock A, B, C or D? #Tehom #indiegame #gamedev

Keep all 4 and just be random rotation to keep players on thire toes. xD

Also heavily inspired by the fishing mini games in dredge btw. Lock picks will be limited, the thief skill tree will increase your effectiveness at picking and some locks will blow up in your face.

I like A. I would also make it a touch harder by making passing by the node also count as a failure. And you also get to add things like reversing directions randomly (or alternating) for even harder locks

How about have them all? I love mini games but they can get stale quickly, having a variety like this would be nice!

I think A would be the best but I can see people hoping for C because it seems like the least frustrating of them. B is personally nice for me but I imagine people will think it's tedious or too hard.

Do A and C

Lock A looks fun

C and A D type wasn't that good in Dredge either, since it's harder to control the difficulty of the rings well, and you cannot finish the puzzle faster even if you're good at it - it always takes a constant time.

A, B (needs some clean up) and C. I like these and having them be for different types of chests would be cool. I am also a Warframe player and we have 3 different locks.

I personally like A and C. C looks the closest to actual lock-picking via setting the pins.

answer A for me

C but missing one resets to beginning

I like A & B the most, D seems pretty unique too.

A is close to Atomic Heart's unlocking minigame B is based on timing C is Oblivion's lockpicking minigame with no control over the pick D is Dredge's salvage minigame I like A and B, but leaning more towards B

I like the one where I use a breaching shotgun on the lock - is that an option?

All of them for sure

Definitly not D. I prefer a lock picking minigame that can be complated faster based on your skill level. Also not a fan of B b/c it rotates to fast and I have tried that minigame before- it is a pain. I have a love/hate w/ lock picking.

Loathe lock D because of how long it takes and how little skill it involves; just tiresome. Lock A doesn't make sense for a lock because rotary locks that do back/forth will reset after a full rotation. Lock C is bleh because auto-moving pick. Thus, by default, Lock B.

B!! It gives you the precision feeling, while C Feels too much like typical fishing mechanic, which like it isn't but yeah, same with D but more reminds me of knife throwing minigames then lockpicking, love the work!

B

i like A and C

Only one I wouldn’t like is D it seems like it has the most likelihood of forcing a fail unless it’s specifically coded to ensure there will always be an available path,

I like B.

I think B the most tbh

D seem to be the funniest and more chalenging

C or A, those are basically the same. I don't even know what are the rules in D.

Why not all? Gameplay diversity is cool to have

I like A best. It seems the least hectic to me

As someone who kinda hate these kind of mini task, B feels the coolest. Looks mechanical and the speed is constant, no switching is cool

Keep all 4 and randomize them. Add an option to turn each off so players can pick and choose which one is fun for them

warframe

Not all locks are the same... You could have all four systems at once, for different situations.

A I think is the best concept here. D seems like it could be interesting but it's not intuitive. I legit don't know what even happened to succeed there
