About 250 shops encroaching on footpaths around Bengaluru Fort, Bowring Hospital & KR Market were cleared by Central Corporation on August 5 following a Karnataka High Court order, Karnataka Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda said. According to the minister, metal-fabricated shops had been erected using forged documents allegedly issued by the erstwhile BBMP, blocking the historic fort from public view and leaving little space for pedestrians in one of Bengaluru's busiest commercial areas. Officials have been directed to identify poor roads, prepare estimates, float short-term tenders and begin work immediately, with a target to complete projects within four to six months. How many times should taxpayers pay for the same road ? Just 2–3 months after patchwork was carried out, the asphalt has already deteriorated to the point where it’s difficult to even tell that repairs were done. When we spoke to the engineer, we were informed that the earlier work was carried out by BWSSB, and because of poor quality, a fresh estimate is now being considered to repair the same stretch again. This raises some important questions, not just for one road, one constituency, or one department, but the entire city. If public money has already been spent once, who is accountable when the work fails within a matter of months? Was the restoration inspected before being accepted? Have we our such contractor? Does the contractor have a defect liability period or maintenance obligation, and if so, why should taxpayers pay again instead of enforcing those contractual obligations? How much of Bengaluru’s infrastructure budget is being spent on redoing work that should have lasted much longer? This isn’t about targeting any individual or political party. It’s about demanding transparency, quality, and accountability in the use of PUBLIC funds. Every rupee spent comes from the people. Every failed project deserves EXPLANATION. Every contractor and every department responsible for public works should be held to the same standard. Karnataka Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda strongly came down on his own government machinery and the contractor during an inspection of the ongoing Metro Phase 2B project from Nagawara to Bagalur Cross on Sunday, openly expressing his frustration over prolonged delays, poor execution, and the hardships being imposed on the public.During the inspection, the minister pulled up Metro officials and contractors for incomplete pillars, blocked roads, and footpaths filled with construction debris, which have severely affected traffic flow and pedestrian movement. In 2020, a video from the city of Batumi in the country of Georgia showed a stray dog running into a busy crosswalk, barking at oncoming cars until they stopped, then trotting alongside a group of small children until they made it safely to the other side. He did this every single day. Sometimes he waited for the children for over an hour just to make sure they got across. His name was Kupata, which means “sausage” in Georgian, given to him by a local butcher who fed him regularly. He had shown up in the neighbourhood as a stray puppy years earlier and the community took him in. He slept in the staircase of an apartment building, was fed by a woman named Nona, and spent his days playing with kids in a nearby park. After the video went viral the Adjara Tourism Department built him his own doghouse with a star that read “People’s Choice.” A mural of him was painted on the side of a building. Tourists started visiting Batumi just to meet him. The city government even launched a stray dog adoption programme and unofficially named it after him. He passed away in October 2023, just before turning 10.

Unable to see properly, the dog spun in circles before slowly approaching him, as if begging for food. Put off by its appearance, the boy walked away. The next day, he saw the dog again near the cemetery. It was gentle, familiar with the area, and kept searching everywhere following scents and looking around, only to end up disappointed every time. Other stray dogs bullied it, yet it refused to leave. A local woman then shared the heartbreaking truth. About two and a half years earlier, an elderly man had rescued the dog when it was just a tiny puppy. The two became inseparable. When the old man passed away and was buried in that cemetery, the loyal dog began an endless vigil, returning every day in search of the only person it had ever loved. The Prime Minister's office forwarded it to the Home Minister, and we were called by the Home Minister for a meeting today, and we all had a meeting with the Home Minister. We clearly spelt out the illegalities in the amendment bill. We pointed out clause by clause and also certain provisions in the existing Act which, according to us, are unnecessary. Even if a license is going to be cancelled, even if a registration is going to be cancelled, there was no necessity to take over the properties of these organizations, including their activities... this was also clearly explained to the Home Minister that these bodies have employed expert hands for running these organizations, institutions, hospitals, and by taking over it will clearly destroy the organizations, including the hospitals. We have also said that it is not good even for the people as well as for the majority for whom we are serving… We clearly explained the repercussions and how draconian it is, how it affects or violates the constitutional guarantees to the minorities, including to the extent of taking over the places of worship; also, we pointed out. The Home Minister spent about an hour discussing with us, and we had clearly explained to him with an open mind. He heard us, and he said that he'll look into this matter."

While at the park, some unleashed dogs approach her dog and run up on him. He reacts, but she’s able to control him. The other dog’s owner comes up. Of course he’s unhelpful and blames her dog for being aggressive. When I used to live at the house in Brecksville, it seemed like everybody had an aggressive dog, or maybe they just trained them to not like me I’m not sure. I used to go for walks at night while I was dealing with customers and such when I was at the insurance company. During my walks it wouldn’t be uncommon for me to encounter 3-4 dogs being walked by their owners and sometimes they aren’t on leashes. Even though they aren’t biting, when a big dog like that jumps on me with its paws, it’s gonna scratch the crap out of my arms and legs. I said something to the owner and he just laughed claiming it’s just a scratch. I let it go that time but then it happened again a few days later. I ended up filing a report and calling animal control. They ended up taking the dog because earlier in the day it had attacked a little kid on a bike. Whether or not it intended to harm her didn’t matter, the point is it knocked the little girl off of the bike and dragged it for a few seconds, causing some scrapes on the little girl. The parents were furious because anytime anyone says anything about his aggressive dog he usually laughs at them like he laughed at me. The owner was angry at everyone for repeatedly reporting his dog but honestly this needed to happen. When will aggressive dog owners finally wake up and realize the threat their aggressive dogs are to others including themselves? We’ve all seen the stories on the news.

Following the alleged suicide of #ConfidentGroup Chairman #CJRoy, #Karnataka Home Minister #DrGParameshwara on Saturday said that Roy's company had been raided by the Income Tax Department in December 2025 and was given 60 days to file a chargesheet. Speaking to reporters in #Bengaluru, Parameshwara said the deadline to file the chargesheet was February 4, and Roy had returned from #Dubai three days ago. He added that Roy cooperated with the Income Tax officials who visited his office to record his statement. "His (CJ Roy) company was raided by the IT department in December. They were given 60 days to file a charge sheet. The deadline was set for the February 4 and he arrived from Dubai three days ago. The officials (#IncomeTax) went to his office to record his statement. He (Roy) responded to that," Parameshwara told reporters. The Home Minister further stated that Roy went inside his office, saying he would come out in a few minutes. However, when he did not emerge for about 20 minutes, it was found that he had died by "suicide". Parameshwara said an investigation would be conducted into the earlier incident and that he has asked his department to conduct a preliminary inquiry. "In the meantime, he went to his office and said he would come in a few minutes. When he did not come out for about 20 minutes, it was noticed that he had committed suicide. Apart from this, an investigation should be conducted to find out what happened in the past. I have asked our department to conduct a preliminary investigation," Parameshwara said.
