Jet Patcher technology is suited for repairing smaller potholes without disrupting traffic, Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda said. The technology was demonstrated on the Vidhana Soudha-MS Building road as part of a Rs 2-crore pilot by Central City Corporation. The machine uses cold-mix technology to repair potholes up to 50 mm deep by cleaning the damaged area, applying bitumen and wet mix, and compacting it. Traffic can resume within about 10 minutes, reducing the need for night-time repairs. If successful, the technology will be deployed across all five city corporations. The minister said different technologies would be used based on pothole depth & road damage.

How many times should taxpayers pay for the same road ? Just 2–3 months after patchwork was carried out, the asphalt has already deteriorated to the point where it’s difficult to even tell that repairs were done. When we spoke to the engineer, we were informed that the earlier work was carried out by BWSSB, and because of poor quality, a fresh estimate is now being considered to repair the same stretch again. This raises some important questions, not just for one road, one constituency, or one department, but the entire city. If public money has already been spent once, who is accountable when the work fails within a matter of months? Was the restoration inspected before being accepted? Have we our such contractor? Does the contractor have a defect liability period or maintenance obligation, and if so, why should taxpayers pay again instead of enforcing those contractual obligations? How much of Bengaluru’s infrastructure budget is being spent on redoing work that should have lasted much longer? This isn’t about targeting any individual or political party. It’s about demanding transparency, quality, and accountability in the use of PUBLIC funds. Every rupee spent comes from the people. Every failed project deserves EXPLANATION. Every contractor and every department responsible for public works should be held to the same standard. Karnataka Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda strongly came down on his own government machinery and the contractor during an inspection of the ongoing Metro Phase 2B project from Nagawara to Bagalur Cross on Sunday, openly expressing his frustration over prolonged delays, poor execution, and the hardships being imposed on the public.During the inspection, the minister pulled up Metro officials and contractors for incomplete pillars, blocked roads, and footpaths filled with construction debris, which have severely affected traffic flow and pedestrian movement. A 26-year-old nurse was allegedly attacked with acid and repeatedly assaulted with a machete by her estranged husband in full public view in Bengaluru on Thursday morning. The incident occurred around 9.15 am near a private clinic when the woman stepped out for breakfast. She is currently undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of a private hospital and her condition is reported to be critical. The victim, identified as Madhumita, who hails from Kolkata in West Bengal, had been working as a nurse at the clinic for around one-and-a-half years. According to police, her husband Venkatesh had arrived on a motorcycle and was waiting for her near the clinic. Police said the couple, who got married in Madurai in 2024, had been living separately for around a year following a family dispute and were not in contact with each other. According to the police, Venkatesh allegedly chased Madhumita after she came out of the clinic. She ran towards the cellar parking area in an attempt to escape, but the accused allegedly caught hold of her and threw acid on her. He then grabbed her by the hair and repeatedly attacked her with a machete. The assault unfolded in full public view, triggering panic among onlookers. Hearing her screams, several people rushed to help and raised an alarm. However, the accused allegedly brandished the machete at those who attempted to intervene, preventing them from approaching the victim. Some members of the public reportedly tried to rescue Madhumita by pelting stones at the accused, but were unable to overpower him. As the situation turned violent, a traffic police sub-inspector, who was managing traffic at a nearby signal, rushed to the spot. Police said the officer intervened while locals were pelting stones at the accused. The accused allegedly then turned on the officer and attacked him with the machete. The PSI reportedly managed to knock the weapon out of the accused's hand using a stick before securing him. The accused was subsequently handed over to the police and taken into custody. Police have obtained videos of the assault recorded by the public. Venkatesh is currently being questioned as investigators seek to establish the exact motive behind the attack.

Nagaprasanna, heard petitions seeking transfer of the investigation into the alleged KPSC recruitment scam, including the probe against suspended KPSC Chairman Shivashankarappa Sahukar and the alleged irregularities in the recruitment of Veterinary Officers to the CBI. During the hearing, Advocate Venkatesh Dalawai appearing for the petitioners, submitted that one of the selected candidates is related to the suspended Chairman and alleged that bribes of around ₹80 lakh were paid to secure appointments. He further brought to the Court’s notice that the State Home Minister had publicly stated that the KPSC scam FIRs had been transferred to the CID for investigation. Expressing serious concern over the allegations, the Court observed that the matter appeared to be a case of “daylight robbery.” The bench questioned how candidates could have secured unusually high marks without the involvement of officials within the KPSC and remarked that the Commission had functioned efficiently until around 1998, after which several recruitment processes had become embroiled in controversy. The Court also observed that an investigation by the State’s own agency, the CID, may not inspire public confidence in a case of such magnitude. High Court directed the State Government to explain why the investigation should not be entrusted to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and ordered it to place the entire investigation material before the Court. The State has been granted one week’s time to file its response and produce the relevant records. The Court also directed that no coercive action shall be taken against the petitioners. Notices have been issued to the State Government and the CBI and the matter has been posted for further hearing on 7 August 2026.

The machine, accompanied by men — police and paramilitary jawans — reached the neighbourhood around 2pm. Barricades were set up on both ends of the narrow lane. A crowd built up beyond the barricades. A section of the residents claimed they had approached the Supreme Court, challenging the demolition ordered by a division bench of the Calcutta High Court. “My 28-year-old daughter had heart surgery last year. We are on the fifth (top) floor. A portion of the terrace was demolished. The repeated sounds were too disturbing for her,” said a woman. The demolition drive followed a warning from Bengal chief minister Suvendu Adhikari on May 13. He said he had asked the CESC to conduct an internal audit of illegal buildings across the city and stop power supply to them. “We are coordinating with the Kolkata Municipal Corporation. The civic body is identifying the illegal buildings, and we are identifying unauthorised connections,” said CESC spokesperson. Sources in the utility said new power connections are issued after basic checks. “Otherwise, every home would end up with multiple meters. But the civic body must inform us if a building is illegal. We will act accordingly,” a source said. A KMC official said that a similar court-ordered demolition of a portion of a restaurant in central Calcutta had recently been carried out. “The demolition continued for more than a week and ended on May 11,” the official said.
