Yeah teslas version cost literally zero since they are using the cameras in the car. BMW seems to have lidar set up along the entire 1km stretch. 🤦

FSD LiDAR is a dead technology. Tesla’s 100% vision-only fully autonomous FSD starts in 60 days. Cybercabs cost $17K to build, no remote drivers, no geo fencing. Waymo’s cost $150K to build, require remote drivers and gel fencing. Tesla wins.

It’s the last production day of 2025 at Giga Texas & it seems to be a Model Y Performance day to boot! I’ve added a real time video showing the pace of vehicles exiting the factory, but with a new twist. The cars are being driven out of the factory and down the ramp by employees, then autonomously about 1.3 miles to the West End of Line facility for final processing. This may be due to interior preparations for upgrades and maintenance on the production lines over the next few weeks. In any case, enjoy these views of a rare Friday production day!

These people have no idea Tesla Robotaxis are about to eat Waymo’s breakfast, lunch, and dinner. 1/ Waymo loses $ on every ride. Tesla Robotaxis will be very profitable. 2/ Waymo needs expensive LiDAR and clunky sensors. Tesla uses only vision and a neural net, just like humans. 3/ Waymo has 1,500 cars. Tesla can scale to millions quickly, 8M+ vehicles is the current fleet size. 4/ Waymo isn’t vertically integrated, they rely on other automakers. Nissan has unveiled its next-gen driver assist AI technology called ProPilot, which the company says will be on par with Tesla's FSD when it is released by March 2028. “We think ours is smarter than Tesla FSD, just not as polished as a product,” said Nissan. The prototype vehicles feature 11 cameras, 5 radar sensors, and a next-generation LiDAR sensor. This is my second video clip showing a full autonomous drive by a Tesla Model Y from the Giga Texas factory exit, through traffic (these are non-pubiuc roads) about 1.5 miles (~2.5 Km) to the west End of Line facility. I spent 6 hours at Tesla Boston and spoke to well over 50 people. Most had never even heard of Optimus before, their minds were completely blown. Great work by Tesla getting Optimus in front of visitors from all over the world who are here for the Boston Marathon.
