The manager reportedly told them they could not just storm through the kitchen without judicial authorization. A kitchen, in a restaurant, is not a public space. When agents do not have consent, exigent circumstances, or a valid warrant signed by a judge… then managers have every right to question that search. Apparently you don’t realize that chasing someone who flees into a building allows police to chase them. They are not required to stop and get a warrant in order to continue chasing them.

They are doing this knowing there are cameras all around… now imagine what they are doing IN the facilities.

Hot pursuit. Suspects literally fled from a traffic stop into the diner. Exigent circumstances let agents follow without a warrant; straight 4th Amendment law (Santana, etc.). Demanding one mid-chase doesn't make you a hero; it makes you an obstructer. The manager doesn't get to play judge and block federal agents from a felony suspect. The problem with this is the manager being comfortable enough with lax enforcement of laws to allow the illegal to hide in the kitchen. The manager should have never let the illegal into the kitchen out of fear of being prosecuted for it.

Law enforcement CAN chase a suspect into a private business - they have probable cause and are justified in doing so.
