what's the range ....I thought the water is a problem and that's why most submarines come with a wire ....or that's just for subs diving deeper

Sinking a ship that is afloat, unaware, and technologically outmatched is not some extraordinary feat of naval brilliance. It is what happens when one side controls the underwater battlespace and the other lacks layered anti-submarine warfare capability. Claims of dramatic “first hit” superiority sound impressive but to anyone who understands naval warfare, this was a mismatch from the start.
